We interviewed three highly recommended DJ's for our wedding. Bruce came out on top. Even with high expectations, Bruce exceeded them by far. He carefully listened to how we wanted our wedding to turn out and in the months and weeks leading up to the wedding, he was always available to listen to any adjustments we wanted to make. Being in the business for as long as he has, he has a lot of experience and connections and recommendations. And it shows! He even gave us a referral for a harpist that we ended using for our ceremony that we loved. On the day of the wedding, Bruce came prepared and made it his goal to make sure that everyone had a good time. My groom had a last second request to surprise serenade me with his guitar and a bunch of our friends at the reception & Bruce helped to set it up perfectly. One of my most favorite moments. Had the opportunity to work with Gus. I will first start out with the positive, he was a great MC who had a lot of energy, great jokes, and was intentional with drawing the guests from the wedding. However there are a few things to note. 1. We wanted to have our friends play instruments and sing. The FAQ that was provided stated that this was allowed and that instruments were allowed to be plugged into the speakers. However when we brought it up he began arguing with us. We stated that we would provide the instruments, cords, and music stands however rather than seeking to be solution based, he didn't even really seem like he wanted to help us. The day of the wedding when our friends were sound checking with him he got angry at them when he specifically said HE WOULD PROVIDE mic stands beforehand. He said, "you guys are killing me" and in a grumpy mood stormed off to his car to go check. If you're going to say something is allowed in your FAQ then stick to what you say. 2. On his contract he had a typo that completely impacted how much we would pay. This is a lack of professionalism and every contract that is provided must be exact and accurate. If I didn't read throughly we would've paid more than what was stated! 3. We created a music playlist for him to use for the dance floor. He did not use any of the songs from the playlist that we gave him, rather he played his own songs. I want to be fair and I want to note that he is a great MC however these other points must be addressed. The price was the cheapest we could find but maybe we could've paid more and looked elsewhere. read more

Bruce was so fun and easy to work with - from our initial phone call with him, we knew he was the best DJ for us. He had a laid back but professional attitude and we clicked with him right away. Throughout the planning process, Bruce was very good at taking notes and listening to what we wanted. He uses a software that is easy to follow to add all of our songs - my only comment would be to make it a little easier to add songs. For 50% of the songs, I had to find them and put the link in even though they are common songs...they just wouldn't appear in his software when I searched...Otherwise, it was easy to use! Bruce set up several calls with us leading up to the wedding to make sure he had the timeline, names, etc. down to a T. And it was all worth it, because he did a great job on the day of! We had a very busy wedding with lots of moving parts, but Bruce did a great job with keeping up and getting everything right! He was accommodating to all of our crazy requests, even when we decided to give all of the wedding party couples their own choice of "walk up songs" for the grand entrance only a week before the wedding...and Bruce made it happen! Our wedding was scheduled for 8/8/20. It had to be cancelled due to the state of CA governors "shelter in place" order. Since then my husband got out of the military & we moved out of state. Bruce has refused to return our deposit stating it is "non-refundable" despite these extenuating circumstances (COVID). Disgusting to make others pay for services legally not allowed to be rendered! Bruce did my wedding early last year, so this review is long overdue but well deserved. Bruce was the icing on the cake for our big day! I had told him that I encouraged the singing and dancing and gave him a list of all the songs I wanted--he delivered and then some! There was one song I wanted to end the night with that I had forgotten and at the very last moment he made it work. He even provided the uplights that made our venue feel even more cozy. Even more so, I loved his booth set up--it didn't feel like an awkwardly placed table--it fit right into our decor. My favorite part of it all was how he got our families on the dance floor and everyone singing along. If you want the best, search no further! Bruce is the most amazing DJ I have ever experienced! I put on a Christmas Holiday party every year with over 260 guests, and he has our party hopping! The first year I used Bruce was in 2012, and he has DJ'd our annual party ever since. The group is mainly young, 20's-40's, and I have trouble every year getting them to stop dancing and leave! Hahaha. The first year I went over some music options with him, but since then, I have let him have cart blanche to play whatever he thinks is best and he always knocks it out of the park!!! Bruce is a wonderful DJ! We were impressed with him from the very first email he sent to us. The series of questionnaires and advice he gave us showed how eager he was to learn everything he could about us, and help us make an informed decision. He was also very flexible about setting up video chats and discussing ideas for our wedding day. What I especially loved about him was how on-point he was during the big day. We sent him a series of song lists we wanted to play during different parts of our wedding. One song was a ballad my younger brother recorded, and the minute I heard the first notes play during cocktail hour, my smile was that much wider for the rest of the night. As much of a blur as the day was, he seemed to work well with with our venue coordinators and help move the wedding along without any hiccups. My co worker recommended Gus as a DJ and I'm so thankful she did. From the very first email Gus and Bruce were professional, responsive, and so friendly. Battleson Entertainment is organized and has an online system to help you pick what songs you're using during your wedding. We had a phone call with Gus the week before our wedding go through all the song choices and the schedule for the wedding. I told him picking the songs was probably the hardest part of the wedding but he had great recommendations to help us. During the ceremony and reception Gus made sure the celebration was sticking to the schedule and he had clear communication with us during the whole day. The venue coordinator told us after the wedding that Gus was the most professional DJ she had worked with and he provided her with information that other DJ's normally don't. We were so thankful to have Gus there to help us celebrate during our special day. One thing that I thought was great is Gus has a website the guests can use to request songs to be played. He did a great job playing the requested songs. We got married on a golf course and at the start of the ceremony a cart rolled up that was playing music loudly. Gus went over and kindly asked for them to turn the music off. I didn't see this but my family told me the day after the wedding. I appreciated the extra care Gus gave during the day. read more

Bruce is the man! Battleson Entertainment was provided to us on a list of vendors at our wedding venue. After visiting his website, we were definitely impressed. Bruce really makes an effort to stay on top of all the latest in the industry. His lighting, panels, and scheduling are a good example of that. We were really drawn to "frontloading" our wedding. We got all of the wedding activities out of the way and then started continuous dancing until the end of the night. We fell in love with Bruce's laid back attitude and good nature. He was really fun to work with. At no point were we stressed out with Bruce. We had some pretty unconventional ideas that he worked with. He is so organized and really makes an effort to get to know you. We filled out a lot of forms with information about us and what we wanted and didn't want played at our wedding. He had a website where we could input songs and a website for our guests to enter songs. On the day of the wedding, we were so excited when we heard an instrumental version of the Halloween movie theme playing. Bruce understood us 100%. During the ceremony, Bruce was a calming presence off to the side. He nailed every moment at the perfect time. We were also super excited to see that Bruce dressed up since it was a Halloween wedding. During dinner, he played awesome songs that got the guests singing along. He was a great MC and got the crowd excited. We couldn't have asked for a better DJ. One of our guests even asked for the playlist because she said it was "the perfect Halloween playlist!" Bruce was very professional, played only songs I selected from my 250 song playlist I created in Spotify, and had ample equipment to cover three rooms at my venue (The Hacienda in Santa Ana, which is how I found him). Bruce really paid attention to detail and kept my wife and I in the loop at all times. I feel bad that I only tipped him 10% as I wanted to tip 20%, but hopefully someone will read this review and choose him for your ceremony. Our wedding was yesterday at Strawberry Farms in Irvine. We were a bit last minute to think about a DJ and had a tight budget for our wedding. We were lucky Bruce was able to come to our wedding and met with him a few weeks in advance to go over our plans. He is very friendly and open to ideas. We have no experience with parties, weddings etc. He offered great examples and helped us pick songs. We got so caught up in other things we weren't able to really get him a list of songs, but he knew what we liked and planned on it. He did our outdoor ceremony and was told last minute we were doing a sand ceremony and needed a good song for that and managed it perfectly. We also decided last minute to do a grand entrance and our coordinator told Bruce and he quickly got a good song lined up and announced us as we came in. EVERY single guest raved about Bruce, his personality and songs were great. We had people from 13months old to 95 years old at our wedding and everyone enjoyed the music and his MC skills. He was moderately priced for DJ service, but provided us with a phenomenal experience. He came early to setup, his DJ station looked elegant and you didn't see chords everywhere or a mess. He was very accommodating, lively, and just easy to work with. It really was our glue for the wedding. We didn't plan on any dancing, even though we did have people get out on the floor to do a little. We were very grateful to have Bruce be our DJ and were amazed how our ceremony and reception went!! Bruce was the fantastic DJ for our cocktail hour and reception. As musicians, my now husband and I were keen on having the music we really loved and appreciated played at our wedding. Bruce kindly listened to our many requests (including finding a very elusive first dance song!!!) and then added his own sage wisdom from his years of experience. Our bridal party commented to us how nice he was; he sent our best man to check in on us when we got lost in the crowd talking to people. Bruce was the only DJ that we met with during the planning process. We received quotes from a few other DJs and even though, some of them were less expensive than Bruce, we decided to book with him because of his experience, his intimate knowledge of our wedding venue (he is located in the same building) and his philosophy on mixing music. During our final consultation, Bruce helped us narrow down our musical selections based on the type of wedding we wanted. During the wedding, Bruce was a great emcee - commanding but not pushy or corny. He even handled himself very well with our Chinese emcee, who was a little more vocal at times than we were expecting. I noticed with other DJ companies, they just assign a random DJ for your event and it just didn't feel right. Furthermore, Battleson Entertainment had a classy white sound system set up covering all the wires and black sound equipment for the evening, it looked so professional and beautiful! About a month before our wedding we scheduled a phone meeting where he asked us everything from introductions to announcements to the schedule of the day and the specific type of music selections that we wanted for each part of the wedding. We had ceremony music, cocktail hour music, music during dinner and a whole lot of dance music for the entire evening! We had some outstanding requests in terms of Hindi/ Bollywood music and he was able to make it all happen! For example: for our first dance we started off with a classic love song for one minute, then we changed it to a minute of a Bollywood love song, then for the third part of our first dance he played a three minute upbeat mix of a Bollywood/Hindi/English mashup that we found on YouTube! It's been two weeks since our wedding and I am literally still hearing from Friends and Family about how much fun they had dancing their butts off at our wedding. Battleson Entertainment truly kept the dance floor packed and moving.  The DJ also has a very classy lighting system which I highly recommend.  You definitely don't want cheesy lighting affecting all the pretty photos you're hoping your photographer is capturing!  We hired Bruce off a recommendation and couldn't have been happier with our decision.  Going into this, I thought the DJ's only job was to play music but you get way more with Battleson Entertainment.  Bruce is extremely organized and prompt with emails.  He scheduled a few consultations with us to get to know us better and to understand what we were looking for.  Bruce reached out to us to schedule our last consultation, with plenty of time before our wedding, so we weren't rushing to figure it all out like we had to with many of our other vendors. This is important because as you get closer to the Wedding day you tend to lose your mind a tad...  Bruce made sure we kept everything on schedule, which is ULTRA important.   The music is the most important thing about this review. Without going to an actual event and hearing a DJ in persons it's hard to rate their performance.  I am picky with music and because my Wife is from South America we had to make sure that we had a good mixture of American and Latin music. Not a problem in the slightest.
