Good service. Good drinks. Good vibes. Whenever I come here the service is attentive, the environment is relaxed and enjoyable, and the drinks are delicious. I learned the history of Bauman's through their Airbnb tasting tour (would recommend) and got to talk with and tour with the founder. Very fun experience if you get the chance. I love the localness of this business and how inviting all their employees seem to be. They've expanded their food menu and have a happy hour so there are plenty of reasons pulling me back for more. read more

*Thunder crashing, followed by screaming and creepy organ music* It's been a while since I have had Bauman's cider and just recently I had one of their ciders. It's been a hot minute since I have had a cider from them but the cider I just finished enjoying was none other than Elvira's Currant Obsession. This was a currant cider and a type I don't believe I have had before. I have had currants before but it was when I was quite young and we had a currant bush in my grandmother's yard on the family ranch. We would grab some for a snack which was always good. I remember them being a tad tart. This cider in contrast us fairly sweet and while it was good I tend to go for more dry ciders. But Elvira was on the label and how can you not love Elvira? She's in season anytime of the year. But anyway the flavor highlights for a kind of less common berry is the red currant( or on the bottle it says Black Currant) , apple and sweetness. Tartness is there as well as dryness but it definitely is more subdued. And it makes sense since this is a berry cider. At any rate it was good to revisit Bauman's Cider again and thank you for tuning into another one of my Yelp reviews...unpleasant dreams! *cue the sinister laughing and more creepy organ music* read more

Nice cidery taproom, with high ceilings, lots of natural sunlight, and some houseplants giving it a bright, airy feel. The inside is quite large with a variety of seating, and they have a patio as well. We tried two different cider flights, each highlighting different styles. They also have a small, but very delicious lookimg food menu, but we had already eaten lunch so we just enjoyed beverages this time and I look forward to coming back and having a meal here as well. Great happy hour in PDX with $5 craft ciders. I tried the Clyde's Dry during happy hour for $5 and loved the glassware and the fruity but dry and enjoyable flavor and was nice and cold! They have a pair of cozy leather seats in the corner too which we were lucky to grab. Service was friendly and attentive, but not too "in your face" which I appreciate - allowed us to catch up over two hours and enjoy the great clean fresh space. read more

Everytime a "best of" write-up comes out the long wait times follow. Fortunately, the pizza pop-up at Baumen's - Oregonlive hailed it as the best in Portland - is only on Wednesdays. The hype lived up to its billing: the Cotto was excellent! And definitely opt for the side of Calabrian chili oil apple syrup for dipping, a fitting compliment. Their flagship Clyde's Dry cider was one of the best I've had. Crisp, not too tart, and a refreshing pairing to the cotto. I was warned about sketchy service, but I experienced the opposite. We were given a friendly greeting as soon as we walked in, and overall the service was great. The space is really nice too--big and airy, with a sort of industrial-meets-greenhouse vibe. A really comfortable place to sit and enjoy. My husband and I split a pizza and a Basque cheesecake. This was the perfect amount of food for the two of us, and it was very tasty. We both created our own cider flights. I already knew I love the loganberry, so I opted for others instead. There were 30 to choose from. Bauman's really stood out with its great selection of tasty ciders, its respectable food menu, and a large, modern space that was really inviting. The ciders were really excellent. I went with the Authentic (the classic flavor), but apparently the Loganberry is the most popular. Both were equally impressive, with clean, balanced taste that didn't feel like a fruit overload. Add to that some great food on the menu, and you can see why this place is such a draw. The sourdough bread is made in house, and was fantastic. Likewise, the salmon roll was fresh and delicious. I was in Portland visiting and was looking for a place to sit and enjoy a drink for my first night and stumbled across this place. I honestly want to highlight how friendly the service here was. Everyone was so welcoming and it really gave just a wonderful impression on Portland. I ended up getting a flight and they were so good. The cider here was so fruity and you can tell they are so proud of their city and their cider tells that story. My favorite cider was the Loganberry forward one and I also had to get the in-house sourdough with the tarragon butter. Each cider in the flight I chose was incredible (many were limited/seasonal so I won't list and recommendations so I don't get your hopes up). We tried the Loganberry cider at a food truck and we had to go to their actual location because of how tasty the drink was. The cider was so fresh, fruity, and delicious. When we arrived, Deron took take of us at the bar! HIGHLY RECOMMEND going to him at the bar. He was so knowledgeable in regards to the notes and tastes of each cider. He gave great recommendations based off the types of ciders I tended to go for. He recommended Guava Grapefruit and wow that one was incredible. We ended up trying a few different flights, which I also recommend if you are trying to figure out which one you want a full glass of. Overall amazing ciders, service, and vibes. Probably the worst service I've ever received at a restaurant, which is so sad. The food from the pop up was delicious, but the experience was tainted with extremely rude service from Eric and his manager. They made the ambiance so uncomfortable when he belittled us. Being blatantly ignored at a restaurant by a manager is no fun, and quite frankly has never happened so it was shocking. Heads up, despite ordering multiple dishes, this place chooses not to give out any take out boxes to some people so buy your own take out boxes and bring it with you if you plan on taking any food to go. They will refuse to give them to you. We had to take our leftover bread, tater tots, falafel and dessert on napkins, unfortunately. Won't be returning solely because of this terrible and saddening service experience. read more

5PM arrival and the place was nearly empty. Would've thought they would have a happy hour or something but they didn't. Hope they survive because I love their cider, but it was a ghost town. One thing is that their food is pricey for pub food. $7 (+tip) for 3 half-slices of bread with (plain) butter might explain why the place is empty. Suggest they get rid of the waiters and switch it up to ordering at the bar. Add a happy hour. Make the munchies either more substantial, or price them lower. And the menu needs more variety of hot plate items that go with cider. Yeah, I know this sounds negative but I hope they make adjustments. read more

We were excited to try the newly opened Bauman's in Portland, having been to the cider festival at the farm! We were able to find shaded seating on the back patio for our group on a sunny weekend evening. They have individual ciders or flight options on the menu - lots to choose from and we enjoyed everything we tried! We had the sourdough bread, asparagus salad, and crab roll. All were honestly so good but the crab roll is a MUST order! Service was very attentive. Highly recommend stopping here! read more
