Came here bc they said they had a dog event. They had a handful of dog vendors, some raffle baskets, some dogs around. I didn't see a dog costume contest. Perhaps I was late. This bar just wasn't for me. There was just a lot of smoke everywhere. People were having a good time drinking inside and out. It's def a dive sports bar. Came to catch a band on a Saturday night. Great atmosphere. with lots of friendly people although it was a bit crowded. It is really nice though to have the outdoor space to go relax in too and access to the food truck. I only grabbed a beer but would come back again depending on the music. read more

Seemed like a good place when I watched Christmas parade & shared a laugh with a bouncer - When u use the back entrance, u have to walk thru those hard plastic strips that keep the cold air inside. I joked it was like walking into a butcher shop, sans the sawdust; bouncer said something like, 'thère were only 2 sexes!' 1. WTF? His 'humor' didn't even align to our conversation. 2. WTF? Random! Hours later,walking back to car, we dropped in for a nightcap. Husband hit the loo; I took a seat at the bar, apparently next to a regular. As we waited on the bartender, the gal & I shared a few chuckles. When the bartender approached, I said, "my girlfriend & I will have..." the gal wigged. She jumped up & moved a seat away. She said to the bartender "no, not me!" & said "that's not funny HERE!". My husband caught that. We split. In this day and age, keep your homophobe shite. Bousers is a great place to have a drink and listen to live music. I live within bicycle distance from there so I frequent the place often. Almost every evening they have a live band at 9pm. Most of the times they are a pretty good band also. Dogs are allowed inside the bar but in the evenings its too crowded and loud inside for a dog. They have a huge patio with lots of seating. There is also a food truck thats has good food. If you dont want to order from the food truck Bousers makes a high quality frozen pizza in a little mini oven. Its not bad at all. Lots of locals frequent this bar. Many of them walk or drive their golf cart there. The drinks here are very reasonable. Probably $2-$3 less than most bars. Every dive bar strives to be like Bousers. read more

Having been a KJ (karaoke jocky) and a bartender in a past life I appreciate how thankless the work is and so I like to tip them well. This apparently was not enough for Bausers KJ "Jack" who was allowing a lot of singers to cut in front of me, some twice. I sang one whole song and I was there from 10:15 to close waiting to sing one more, but it never happened. I was humble I was very nice and I asked for no special favors. At closing I politely asked Jack "why". He actually says "you take your 20 buck tip back if you don't like it". WOW. My jaw hit the floor. I backed away, put my head down and walked back to the AirBB. Moral of the story: Jack the Bausers KJ will treat you like a piece of garbage if you're not a local. read more

Bauser the dog is long gone, but his legacy lives on. He's on the sign, the walls and behind the bar, immortalized by hand-painted murals of his awesomeness sitting behind a cold, sudsy beer with a cigar in his mouth. That must've been one cool-ass mutt! I only have a few regrets in my life, and stopping in here about a year too late to meet Bauser is definitely one of them. The first evening we rolled in because the Pinellas Trail runs through they back parking lot. Very wisely, they built a small wooden bridge over the creek back there and put a sign that reads, "Cold water, even colder beer." And that's how we were reeled in. The bar itself is great, and the people are even better. Everyone here is friendly as if we've been coming in for decades. We meet Frank from Ohio the first night, who told us stories about Bauser and some squirrel that found his way into the owner's pocket one day. On our second trip, we met Alex from Colombia--a fan of wooden nickles. Also a real swell fella. The list goes on and on. Recently, the bar has been rehabbed. It is definitely a dive bar, but its recent face-lift gives one an idea of what it might have looked like 12 years ago. Also, smoking was once permitted inside, but they built a huge covered front patio, and the smokers have been relocated. So far, this is becoming my favorite dive in Dunedin. This is a first rate, 5 star "DIVE BAR". 'Wanna drink at 11 AM? Wanna buy cigarettes and whiskey from behind the same bar? Wanna not worry too much about how you look? It's not likely you can even be seen in the cool semidarkness. Wanna go outside and smoke on a patio complete with cooling fans, big screen and WiFi. Sidebar: I kept seeing the patrons pass through a mystery door and thought there must be a card game, girls, or Wacky tobacky going on in there. So I walked through the door myself. And there it was; an oasis for diehard smokers. Not for me. But if you want it, they've got it. BTW Not much call here for single-malt scotch so don't look for Lagavulin but they do have Macallan. No place to take take your Mama on Mother's Day. But if you just lost your job, your dog of fifteen years just died, your son dropped out of med school, or you came home early to find your wife in bed with your sister, then this is the kind of place you'll need. read more

If you're in Dunedin looking for a TRUE bar, this is a good choice. Friendly staff and regulars. Even when crowded you never wait long for a drink. The staff is always grinding. Nice sized patio with tables and chairs for smokers. Solid amount of free parking (which is rare in Dunedin). A great selection of liquor and beer. Popped in here shortly after moving to the area: bar staff was very welcoming. It was karaoke night. DJ was great. If you know what song you want, just tell him. You don't need a slip or a song book. The DJ has EVERYTHING. I'm not much for karaoke, but this place actually got me to sing the 1st night. I've been here a couple of times since and had a nice time. They also have live music which gets a bit loud in the moderately sized bar area, but hey, if it's too loud head to the patio. You can also bring your dog here which I love. There's darts and a fun Family Guy pinball machine. This is a fun night spot. Definitely on the dive side, but that's a good thing. You'll make friends with folks from their 20s to their 60s. Bausers is the best dive bar around. They are my five star standard for local dive bars. They fill my two needs and more so. 1. Inexpensive beverages 2. Never have to wait for your first drink or your next. The inside is not great but that's what makes it a dive bar. It also is not dirty of gross by any means. They stopped allowing smoking inside but Smokers are still welcome you just have to go to the patio. They have a full bar and can make anything you want. The beer prices are the best around at 2.50 domestic bottles. Also inexpensive high end drinks. The beer selection might be limited for some but I don't go to a dive bar to try new brews we have the beermuda triangle for that. They have entertainment almost every night from karaoke to live bands and the live bands are what you want to drink to from blues to rock. The staff and clientele are wonderful. Such friendly folk there it's like the cheers of Dunedin but divier! read more

I was here for a fun run race over the past weekend. In fact, I was a volunteer. After the race, I went inside to do a Bloody Mary and sample the refreshments. I have to say that the overpowering smell of stale smoke was such a distraction.(you can smoke in a bar if there is no food served.) As much as I'd like to come over occasionally to listen to some good live blues, I might be too distracted by the smoke. I will add that the staff and bartenders were most friendly. read more

I visit Bauser's on Monday for the live music. It's mostly an older crowd. Been going here for a little over 2 years. The building is a nondescript cinder block rectangle. Inside, it is dark and there is a slight smoke smell early in the evening. As the evening passes, its going to get smokier and smokier. The music can be anywhere from good to off the hook excellent. I've seen tremendous musicians play here (remember, there is no cover to get in and listen). The bartender is the best ever, read the reviews below and others say the same. i was there for the St Patrick's Day race on March 15th. Outside, the band and seating were in the hot sun and it was very hot that day. After the race we decided to go inside Bausers for a couple of drinks. A few words to describe the place: smokey, dirty, old, dive, dark and sticky. Sticky probably from all the tobacco built up on the bar, chairs and floors. Disgusting. Did I mention smokey? The bartenders were quite obvious in treating us racers differently than they treated the regulars. We waited twice as long for drinks and were not treated well at all. No smiles or eye contact. I went to the Dunedin St Pat's Day marathon which was at Bauser's. It was well-organized and a blast! They had a great band, food, and free beer for the runners! After teh race we went inside for perfect Bloody Mary's and the people were all having a great time. The bartenders were the best!
