This place is awesome. There is so much to say so I'll try and get it all. 1. The food was really good. Lots of different selection and a kids menu. It also came out super fast probably about 7 minutes after we ordered it. 2. Beer selection is awesome! It also comes out perfectly and quickly. You can order by half pint or pint. 3. Family friendly. They have high chairs and boosters and a kids menu. It's a very comfortable friendly place and the service was very good. I would highly recommend it. Very cozy and a big tv the entire room can see. They have a rewards program through their app, advertised in the establishment, but the waiter didn't know what it was, and when he entered my info I never got my rewards. We got three growlers of beer to go. They are $10 each, which is a great deal. I believe it is only $5 to refill them, so be sure to keep the growler! The beer was very good; very classic German beer. We got the Pilsner, Helles Lager, and Hefeweizen. The Hefeweizen was a group favorite. I wouldn't get them every day (I prefer more unique beers), but they are a great value for authentic beer. I am intrigued to dine in and try their food sometime now! read more

Great food and great service! If you like German food, this is your place. Some of my favorites are the pierogies, goulash and spaetzel, giant pretzel, Reuben rolls and French onion soup. I loved the beer cheese served with the pretzel so much I asked "Does anyone mind if I just straight up drink this?" and the answer was a resounding "No!" Love that. And of course, the beer. I left a quite good review about this place two years ago. So two years later I bring my wife back for our wedding anniversary. During that time we had been back several times and the quality was still quite good. Now we have been told there's a "new menu" and upon seeing the menu they have raised the prices significantly. I wouldn't even complain too much about spending $70 for lunch for us if the food was good like it used to be. It's not even close. The schnitzel used to be absolutely amazing, now it's passable at best. The first thing my wife said upon starting her meal was "this is just not good". They took the fried cabbage off the menu. While I know that it's technically not German, it was amazing. They replaced it with this sweet red cabbage that was pretty disgusting to be honest. The football game was on and I know that's a big draw for people but the volume shouldn't be so loud that I literally had to yell across the table to even speak to my wife. It got to the point where we were actually texting each other. The whole place just seems like a dumbed down version of itself. The staff no one longer wears the lederhosen. Not a big deal but it was a nice touch. Kind of fun. They used to pack the leftovers in a cool cardboard takeout box. Now it's a Styrofoam clamshell it looks like it belongs at Denny's. A bunch a little stuff. None of those things in of itself is a big deal but added up its not what it was, they clearly don't put the effort in anymore and are more concerned with cutting corners. We came here early December to celebrate my cousin and his wife both completing their respective schooling and getting their new jobs. My aunt came weeks before to check the place out to see if they could accommodate our large group. She asked at that time if we could have a few tables pushed together in the dining room area opposite the beer hall. On the night of our dinner, we began arriving and they instead had us set up in the beer hall. Don't get me wrong, the beer hall would be awesome to sit in with a smaller group. It just would have been way too loud for all of us to actually talk and enjoy each other's company with the loud music and longer, less intimate tables. My aunt spoke with some managers and got us set up in the dining room which was closed off at the time. I was really impressed with the level of professionalism during all of this as I am sure they had to really switch things up with their staff to make this all possible. All of the staff were great! Very caring and hospitable! The appetizers and dinners were all fantastic! I personally tried the sausage platter with four or five different sausages, potatoes and cabbage. I liked it so much I would be hard pressed to try anything else if we go back there! Again, thank you for making our visit great! I've only had one experience here, but I enjoyed it. We came on schnitzel night and the food was definitely worth the price. It's communal seating, similar to Old German Beer Hall, but when were there it was so chill we were able to find a seat easily. There is also a stage area set up for live music and there is a wall of tvs because people can't stop staring at screens. As for the beers, the deal is in the flights; but like so many places in town right now, almost everything was super hoppy. (I just want to scream to the world "It's okay to not make hoppy beer! There are other flavor profiles, people!" But that's another story.) You can purchase growlers here, but it has to be done before 9pm. While the Bierhaus is open past 9 and you can consume alcohol after 9pm on site, you cannot purchase growlers to go after 9pm. Overall, it was a good time. Good food, okay beer. read more

Everyone enjoyed their appetizers and dinners. Their beer cheese is delicious! You need to get that with the pretzel. I enjoyed the Hefeweizen. It is very smooth with such a great flavor. Dined here tonight. They have a variety of beers but that is about it. Food items are obviously prepared too quickly and served lukewarm. After we finished the waitress shooed us out - even though more than half the tables in the restaurant were open. If you want German food, try Maders. If you want a variety of beers, try Doc's BBQ or some of the places downtown. This establishment doesn't know what it wants to be, so it suffers. Not good quality for the price. read more

So happy they have brought this space back to life. They really are bucking the general food trend with large portions in the large sit down space, where mobile food trucks, small portions and outside dining is all the rage. That said the food is better than you'd think. The beer they brew there is decent, nothing you'd go back for or take a grower home of. The real magic happens during Octoberfest each September in the outdoor festival grounds. With perfect weather that can literally be the most fun on the planet, with everyone drinking steins of German beer and yelling along to the traditional German drinking songs. We volunteered serving beer for years as part of our service to the soccer club, and we looked forward to doing it every year. It was sometimes magical, where you would wake up the next morning wondering if that really happened! Wishing them all the best! read more

I love German Bierhauses! They are always a good time, and Bavarian Bierhaus did not disappoint. We were having a large family party (lots of kids) so they set us up in a large room downstairs. The two kegs available for us was Ornery IPA and the Anvil Polka Pils (both pretty solid). They also set us up with a good amount of booze including my buddy Jack Daniels. Since we had a large party they served us buffet style and I could not get enough of the food. The pretzel balls and bier cheese, Pork Schnitzel, Perogies, Potato dumplings, Potato pancakes with apple sauce! All were so good. Every so often a cousin and I would sneak upstairs and check out the "Halfway to Octoberfest" party. Any excuse for a great time! read more

Fun place! If you love german style beer halls this is the place for you! Wait staff was friendly and attentive and loved the overall atmosphere! I ordered the pirogies and a soft pretzel. Both were filling as hell but tasted great! Also showed up on quiz night (Thursday nights) so for a buck I got to exercise my brain a little bit as well. They also brew all their own beer here and every beer I had was great. I really like that folks brought their whole family there. So kids and all can enjoy this place. The tour was very informative, the beer was excellent, and the service was great. A very nice space, German beer hall with polka music playing. Definitely worth a visit, and stay for dinner afterwards! The food is delicious; favorite is the meat and cheese platter appetizer. Note: tours are free, and you don't need to call and make a reservation to do one. Just go to the bar between 4:30&6:30PM on a Friday. The Barvarian Bierhaus is also accessible via the Oak Leaf trail, if you prefer to bike. They have a nice outdoor patio in the summer. read more

I want to love this place. But no sane person can. I've been going here since they day they opened. They are in my neighborhood, and it's a beautiful place. But they just can't get even the smallest bit of customer service right. From the day they opened you are a stranger at the bar. And good luck getting a beer. Lots of staff. Lots. And you see them turn over on a week to week basis. That's the sign of a management problem. Their app never worked right. They never recorded what you drank. They said, "We'll make it right the next time." Not happening. You can sit at the bar for 20 minutes and never be acknowledged. You can sit at a table longer. But the staff just don't seem to care. Which means the management doesn't care. And, yes, I've spoken with the management. Tonight I came in even after saying we don't need to come here again. Yes, it was Oktoberfest outside. Many of the people have left and it was fairly empty. Just wanted a beer. Stood at the bar for almost 15 minutes as I saw 4 employees behind the bar drinking with each other and ignoring everyone there. After that I just left. Please don't think you'll be treated as a person there. Or even as a cardboard cutout. They've had an issue with customer service since they've opened. It's been discussed. Nothing changes. I WANT to love this place. They are in my back yard. They can make some great beer. But if the staff doesn't give a shit. Why should I? read more

Firstly, what an amazing space with a beautiful festival grounds. Ample parking and a really authentic beer hall experience. The beer is great too! I visited last fall for a Volkswagen car show, a couple of times for dinner and recently for Oktoberfest. I always find the service and atmosphere to be really energetic. We've been here for soccer games and Oktoberfest a number of times but never took the time for a meal. We finally stopped in a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. I'd heard all kinds of different reviews from folks, but was happy we got to experience on our own. A big gripe I've heard is price, but our servings were big and hearty and well worth the price - comparable to other new restaurants in Milwaukee and the food lived up to it. A big plate of food and a beer equaled out to about $20 a person, which is exactly what I'd expect. The schnitzel was amazing and covered in this great beer cheese sauce which I then mixed in to my spaetzle for basically the an amazing Wisconsin meal. We've been meaning to try this place for at least a year now. We finally did on a Saturday night after a Milwaukee Film Festival outing at the nearby Fox Bay in Whitefish bay. The place is big for sure, but it was pretty empty. Not a good sign? The two-piece polka band was fun. Great beer, food was 50/50, but the service was horrible. Went there for lunch a few weeks back with my wife and granddaughter. Ordered my granddaughter a small pretzel, Mac and cheese and my wife and I got the Pork shank (I do not remember the official name). The pretzel was an appetizer, my granddaughter still had two pieces of pretzel to finish and before the main course was brought out, the waitress walks by, grabs the plate with the pretzel pieces on it and walks away. This leaves my 6 year old exclaiming, very sadly "she took my pretzel!" So about 5 minutes later, the waitress returns with our food and as we ask her about the pretzel, she says, "Oh, I assumed she was finished". Not, I am sorry, no apology, just a declarative statement. In any normal restaurant, the correct response would have been, "I'm sorry, can I get her another one? Or let me take that off the bill". Next, the pork was very good, however the mashed potatoes were more like a cold ball of play dough. And the amount of sauerkraut was pretty small, so my wife asks '"can I get a bit more sauerkraut?" The waitress says sure and walks away. 7 minutes later, granted now we are pretty far into the pork, another server comes out with a huge plate of sauerkraut. Which 90% did not get eaten. When we got the bill we were charged full price ($4 I think) for a full side of sauerkraut. We just wanted like an extra spoonful/scoop. We asked the waitress about this and she tells us, "that's how it comes." And walks away. As we are getting ready to pay out bill she walks by and says, - "Thanks for putting up with me" or something to that effect. All in all a pretty waisted lunch time experience. read more

Went here after work for a co-workers last day. The place is huge and can seat many people. We went in a group of 7. I started off with a wheat beer. Then proceeded to their wings honey sirarcha which was very tasty. I also ordered a cup of brat chili which was a little spicy. Overall it was a good experience. For the first day open, wonderful! My husband and I bonkers of all thing German, so obviously we had to go opening day. And since we have been to Oktoberfest in Munich, we needed to come her ASAP! We had the sauerkraut balls, and lots of beer! For dinner, I had Schnitzel dinner- the pork was bigger than your head. It came with spaetzel a bacony-meaty cabbage. My husband had their pork dinner and it came with the wonderful cabbage and two very large potato balls- which were good, but needed a tweak. For dessert, we had the cream puff- which I didn't like (no WI girl wants chocolate on their cream puff), but my husband LOVED it. The beer selection was very good. The downfall was they didn't have THEIR beer yet- another one to two weeks. The menus was was very good and we are excited to try a lot of it. Being of German heritage, my husband and I love good German food, beer and music. The Bavarian Bierhaus provides all three, and in large quantities. Previously, this place was known as the Bavarian Inn. It was closed for a few years until April 26th, 2016, when it reopened as the Bavarian Bierhaus. As soon as we heard about the grand opening, we knew we had to check it out. There are two options for seating here. You can either sit in the regular dining room, or you can sit in the beer hall. The beer hall is where the live music is played, so if you're looking for a quiet dining experience, I would advise you to sit in the regular dining room. We opted to go for the beer hall experience while here. The staff here is exceptional. Not only are they friendly, but they interact with the guests when the music is playing as well. I received a double high-five from one of the servers, and I saw another server polka dancing with a guest. If it's excellent German cuisine that you're looking for, then this is a place for you. The food is not only delicious, but the portion sizes are generous. For my meal, I had the Jäegerschnitzel. The piece of schnitzel took up almost half of my plate. It comes covered in a mushroom sauce, which is amazing, and a side of Spaetzle and fried cabbage. My husband had the chicken schnitzel sandwich, which came with a side of potatoes. I would highly recommend getting the basket of soft pretzels with beer cheese for an appetizer. There is no doubt that we will be back here in the future. read more

Seven options for house-brewed beer on my second visit as opposed to the two upon my first! Their classic German styles are done very well - no off-flavors and the lagers are clean. The Hoppy Pils is killer, the dunkel not too far behind but I find the hefe a little bit lacking. If you're not into the tap selection, the bottle selection is very, very good. Service was good the first time, excellent at a slower lunch time when there's more interaction. JUST overheard: a server asked the knowledgable bartender about Weiss beers and said, "can you point them out to me on the menu so I can better assist her?" Awesome. The atmosphere of this place is truly hard to beat. I've only had the pretzel here so far so it's hard to comment on the food but I find this place just a little on the pricy side for what you're getting, especially with a four beer flight at $11. read more

Next, this is really a community hall that happens to serve food. The portion was big, I did not walk away hungry, but the food was fairly bland. Spätzle was dry. The Mushroom sauce was wet, but not much flavor. The port schnitzel, correction, schnitzels, were crispy, and the oil added a lot of welcomed flavor. The pretzel was warm, and seemed like it was a frozen baked kind of appetizer. Based on the main course I decided to pass on the sweets. Service was a bit slow, but ok if you consider I was waited on by the bartender (not sure where everyone else was). Your mileage may vary. read more

I really want to like this place more. The beer hall is a very nice room, The beers are fine but the food is subpar. On my last visit we ordered the Bavarian pretzels, chicken bratwurst with no onions or sauerkraut, the Oktoberfest jumbo bratwurst, and a kids hot dog. Chicken brat came with onions and kraut, Oktoberfest brat had no mustard, bun was over toasted and the pretzels at best were warm. If the soccer games are going on the concession stand is a better bet. read more

Our waitress was lovely. She was kind and we understood that as the place was brand new, there would be some unknowns- she was good about finding answers for us. The beer is overpriced for my taste- having gotten used to $5 half litres at the park beer gardens, $7 was a bit steep for me. The food was decent though also pricey- but you get a lot of it!!I highly recommend the potato pancakes with applesauce. I got a few Growlers to go which i highly recommend! I have been for food in the past, but mainly recommend the beer. The growlers are $10 each, with a $5 refill. Each growler holds about 5 beers, and we had 3 growlers for 5 people which was the perfect amount. The Hefeweizen was my personal favorite; it had a banana taste which was surprisingly very good. I prefer light beers, and it was very refreshing. I'm intrigued to try out their Oktoberfest festivities next fall! read more

Two years ago I would have given this place 5 stars, good food, fun german experience. However, we recently went there to celebrate our anniversary and were extremely disappointed. OUR MEAL WAS TERRIBLE.. We ordered the Wiener schnitzel with potato pancakes and were so disappointed! Both the schnitzel and the pancakes were so overcooked and the veal was tough. The potato pancakes were basically inedible. It was an early dinner and it appeared that they had reheated leftovers from lunch. Even the service wasn't on par. I was drinking water and our waiter never offered to refill my glass. My husband left half his food on his plate (which never happens), and the waiter didn't ask him if his meal was okay. I decided that because of our past positive experiences, I would email the assistant manager first and express our concerns. Unfortunately, obviously the management doesn't really care if customers aren't happy with their food, since I received no response. so, I'll close with DINER BEWARE! read more
