Big fan of both Good City Brewing , formerly in this location, and Explorium Brew Pub group, who named Wayfinder after one of its great beers. Wayfinder the restaurant and event space and rooftop space hasn't seemed to find its footing or more importantly, its people. On a prime time Friday night, where the people at?! The shareables menu looks great and deserves a visit with my besties. I liked my burger and fries, I wasn't asked how I wanted my burger but I blurted out "medium rare!" as the server walked away. How was it going to be cooked by default? There are no curry fries on the menu, sad day. The drinks menu of mixed drinks looks good, would love to see more beer on the menu and would love to see both advertised on the vertical screen behind the bar! It's the not so little things. Server seemed annoyed to have customers. There were literally two tables and six customers. We aren't picky and didn't ask for anything special. While the food is good (nothing we tried was mediocre or below but it's not fine dining) the portions don't match the steep prices. I don't drink alcohol and I think that definitely worked against us with our server They kept a lot of the features of Good City which always felt impersonal more than industrial chic. We live close by and it's always empty unless it's summer and the roof is hopping. read more

It's a great space with rooftop seating. We were there for an event. The appetizers they served were done very well. They had mini sliders as one of the dishes. Typically they are over cooked but the chicken was still juicy and the burgers were medium. Everything was top notch. My only issue was how they ran the bar. They had order takers and bartenders separate which really didn't work. It created a bottleneck with the bartenders that slowed service. The system will work but it needs to be two bartenders for every order taker. The order takers weren't as busy as the bartenders. It took ten to fifteen minutes to get a cocktail. The place has tons of potential with great craft beers so I'll be back on a non event day. read more

My dad and I went to Wayfinder in search of a tapas place we hadn't tried yet. I didn't realize that it was in the same space--and owned by the same people--of Good City Brewing that occupied the space previously. They still brew Good City beer on site. We had several dishes that we really enjoyed, including some blueberry horseradish Brussels sprouts, Filipino Adobo chicken wings and caramelized sweet plantains. (We dined right before they changed their menu, but it's to my understanding that they kept some of the dishes.) Our drinks were quite good: We tried the Bitter Strawberry Mai Tai and I'm the Captain Now. As someone who prefers sweeter drinks in general, the strawberry Mai Tai with Campari was beautifully balanced. The top floor of Wayfinder is a rooftop tiki bar with different drinks than are offered downstairs. We would have ordered more food or dessert to try, but they close pretty early on weekdays (8 pm). Still, would recommend a visit for some creative dishes, delicious drinks and beer! read more

Modern and hip restaurant that took over the priori Good City Brewing location. It is now owned by Explorium Brewery and offers shareable plates with some global, Asian fusion, latin themed plates. Pretty neat idea so you can taste the world in one place. Their ambience is spacious and inviting. For food we tried the larb, pickled fries, corn chips with a dash of elote and corn flavored cream dip. The larb was spicy and light, it was one of my favorites. You can't go wrong with fried pickles, the dip worked well with them. I was a bit surprised with corn chips with some elote expecting a full bed of elote with some chips on the side, so I asked for more corn to spread more on top which made it more appropriate on the elote portion. The Filipino adobo chicken had a subtle flavor concoction of light soy. The texture of the chicken was tender so the meat fell off easily to make it easy to eat. I like it more authentic in the saltier side marinated in soy sauce for hours and let the bay leaf soak in longer to let the chicken absorb the flavor. I also like chicken adobo with potatoes in it, so this spin of adobo chicken is unique with a twist of pico. It was my first time ever seeing Filipino pico. Typically tomatoes in Filipino dish contain some fish sauce or pico. For drinks we tried the watermelon cocktail and Bees Knees. Cool naming for cocktails. It's a great spacious place to hang out and take advantage of their rooftop when the weather is nice, great location on the east side. Service was good, staff was helpful! read more

Big fan of this place! I had the opportunity to join for their soft opening and have been back with different groups of friends 3 separate times after that. Always appreciate supporting the owners who I've known for a number of years. I enjoy the food here and I love the small plate concept. As someone who doesn't eat a ton to begin with it gives me the option of trying a number of different things without throwing away a bunch of food. While I certainly have favorites (the Brussels and the pork bell are great) I haven't had anything here that I didn't like. read more

We went to Wayfinder last night and I was really excited, as Explorium is such a top notch restaurant - the kind of place anyone can go to eat and find something they love on the menu. This concept is much different and more unique pairings. The menu is rather small and there wasn't a ton I was personally interested in. I split the carne con elotes and Filipino Adobo Chicken wings. The elote was definitely a let down. There was very little flavor and almost no meat at all, and the meat that was on it had a bad taste and texture. The chicken wings were good flavor and very tender, but incredibly small serving for the price. We also tried the Brussels sprouts and despite listing many interesting ingredients on the menu, this also lacked flavor. I was super excited to get the curry fries, a favorite of mine from Good City (and I've had at Explorium since!) but we were served fries that were fully saturated in curry and salt, they were inedible. Others at our table got the cubano, and muffuletta sandwiches. They both said they were average. Our server was friendly and the ambiance overall was good. But unfortunately the menu needs work before I'd consider returning. read more

We ordered many items. Food was decent. Got a free beer for the dads as it was Father's Day. Hummus and feta was good but there wasn't enough veggies and crostini and we were charged $4 for a very small refill without notice. Oxtail and pommes frites were good. Sauce excellent but the pommes were a bit soggy lying in the liquid au jus. Scotch eggs were good as were the plantains though the rice was very bland and added nothing to the dish. They also took an inordinate amount of time and so did the oxtail. We wanted to start with the plantains and feta and hummus but the food came out at all different times. So one of our party had to eat off other plates because his food didn't arrive. Service was good albeit a bit slow possibly due to kitchen issues. The restaurant wasn't very busy. Desserts were pretty good but the berry tart was better (as we were told it would be). Forgot to take photos of food before we ate it! We were way too hungry. We'd definitely try it again. read more

Great bar staff but management needs to ensure quality control and training happens. The food was alright but not great. Dry burger patty highlighted by a brilliant bacon jam. I would go with a potato bun instead of this thick brioche. The fries are underseasoned but interesting design for shoestring. The place was enormous inside but seemed empty without the high traffic needed for a space of this size. read more

Its taken every ounce of will power to not write this but If I did not it would be a disservice to not only the community who perceived this original good city location as a beacon of gathering for quality food and delicious brews, but also to the new ownership group who is trying to elevate and capitalize from their acquisition of the gem on the corner of Farwell and Windsor. The service was great, the beer was good, but the food lacked authenticity, passion and execution. Two notes: convert the vertical message board above the bar to a rotating draft list/tapas menu (you ran out of menus). And please lord, use fresh ingredients. Let's stop with the Parmesan cheese on the elotes nachos. Never half ass two things, whole ass one thing! We are rooting for you but you gotta give us something to write home about. read more

Atmosphere and service were great. We really wanted to like this place but the food just fell short. Not bad by any means, but not great. Just ok. We had the pickle fries and hummus platter for appetizers, and both were good - though the platter was short on all ingredients for what they charged. We also tried the vegan larb, which was very good, but again a very small portion for the price. The scallop kimchi entree was so very bland and the Cubano sandwich was just okay. Dessert was the sticky toffee pudding, which was so dry and not a sticky toffee pudding - we couldn't even finish. The berry tart was probably the best of the meal though it would have been better with some ice cream on the side. The chef did come talk to us about his struggles with the dessert as it's gluten and dairy free, and he's received previous complaints about it. I did appreciate that but think until you figure out the recipe, take it off the menu. Overall, nothing was bad - it just wasn't great. read more
