Green mildew and leaves that never even got swept before our arrival

Someone needs to condemn this facility, at least rental 101. Can't speak for the others taking care of their own villas? Apparently time share? Welp some forgot to clean, fix, even probably has not been stayed at for a long time. Heavily presence of spider webs everywhere, insect inside and out. We , my friend and I have tried emails to this people giving them a chance to respond and not a word so I'm doing t this mostly to warn people not to rent here. For 450.00 dollars for two nights we got this. I stayed awake the second night afraid a spider would get on my bed with me. Tv did not work , toilets hardly flushed after third time, there was a very mildewed smell in the air. They gave us the wrong email in the office so don't even try that. 2 lady's sitting outside morning we left and one being The manager? Seemed so surprised about our findings???? So they don't check this units before renting them out? Then the maid who doesn't even exist had the goal to leave a tip envelope???? Yikes!!!for some reason is not letting post the pot holder found in kitchen drawer from last year ? Still with BBQ sauce intact. Heavy presence of mildew in ceiling inliving room , pics ahead.

I have to say - we were very worried when we pulled up. The parking lot has seen better days, and the lobby to check in was a bit of a dive. Unfortunately a mistake with out first place forced us to not have a place to stay after driving to Helen on a Friday night during Octoberfest. This place was one of the only remaining with vacancy. We were not in position to negotiate the $210 per night. When we opened the door - fearing the worst, we were surprised, in a good way. The inside was clean and nicely renovated. There we two bedroom rooms and a common living room/kitchen - suite style. Full kitchen with basic plates/pots/pans. A gas-powered fireplace (on a timer) and 3 different porches (we were on the 2nd floor). The bed that we tried was very comfortable. WiFi would have been nice and the rugs are obviously on the replacement list still - but our little dog didn't mind (yes - dogs are allowed with a $100 deposit). Location was very good for down town access - but far enough away that there wasn't a ton of noise. All-in-all, we salvaged an almost disasterous weekend. I would say to not let the outside deceive you - and if you have a family or a 2nd couple - this could be an ideal spot (see pictures).

We booked a unit at Bavarian Brook Rentals on Airbnb. We paid about $142 per night including taxes (it was high season - August). For that amount of money, I expect a place to have the bare necessities at least. BRR didn't quite live up to those expectations. It was a bit dirty (our feet were black after walking around barefoot for a few minutes). The kitchen, while very nice looking (stainless steel appliances, granite counters, island) was SPARSE. If you're thinking of cooking here, you better bring some of your own things, because the kitchen had diner salt and pepper shakers, about 20 plates, a set of really cheap and easily breakable silverware, and some very old and scratched up pans and sheet pans. We had to make an extra run to the dollar store down the street to grab more things so that we could cook in the rental. And, wifi in Helen is TERRIBLE. They'll give you a wifi and password, but it won't work. So you're stuck with some very basic TV channels unless you decide to bring some sort of other device with you (a DVD player, for example). The unit was spacious and the location was great (we walked a lot of places), but it definitely didn't seem like it warranted the price we paid, and I wouldn't stay again.

    Pile of dead bugs
    Matt A.

We rented the Alpine Getaway 62 cabin. When we arrived, we found about 150+ dead bugs on the floor of the living room. We were appalled. We went to the office to complain and the guy called the cabin owner. The owner said he would credit back some of our money due to the bugs BUT HE NEVER DID. On top of that, only half of the hot tub jets work. That was a little disappointing. I understand that they're a lot of upkeep but if you're going to charge over $150/night to stay, everything better be working. Such a rip off. DO NOT RENT ALPINE GETAWAY 62 from these people unless you like a cabin full of dead bugs and a hot tub where only half the jets work.

Walked in after a 4 hour drive in hopes of relaxing and found this. Water splattering everywhere!

I'm trying to be nice and I realize that things happen but we walked into this after a 4 hour drive. Maybe they will fix it and make it right.

We reached the hotel around 10pm. Noticed that almost all stores and restaurants close early in Helen. But the check in staff was very helpful. She gave us an area map and list of things we could do. Also suggested a pizza place...which was the only place open at that time and would deliver. Our room was neat and clean. The hotel had complimentary breakfast "covid style". Meaning, you pick the items that you want from what they have available. They had quite a few selections. Cereal, juice, fruit, yogurt, nutri bar and cinnamon rolls. In hot breakfast they did not have anything vegetarian. They did have plain biscuits though. You tell the staff (who is wearing mask and gloves) what you want and she makes a tray for you. You can either eat in the dining area or take it to your room. The hotel seemed to follow the CDC guidelines for Covid. They do not enter your room for cleaning everyday (how it used to be before covid). If you need anything you just call the front desk and they bring it to you. Plus every day when we came back to the hotel in the evening...they left a care package with a towel, napkin, soap, toilet paper, etc. We didnt really had to ask for anything. The staff was helpful. Overall it was a pleasant stay.

Tammy O is our first shout-out: I had a medical emergency and spent the night in the ER before our trip. I understood and respected the cancellation policy but called anyway to see if we could push our reservation back one day. Tammy graciously accommodated this change and completely saved our honeymoon! Upon arrival we were immediate greeted by our complimentary valet, and he was a lovely gentlemen. There were several front desk rockstars who assisted us throughout our stay and I regret I cannot name them individually. Our room was great, it was nice and quiet with a gorgeous balcony. (See photo of sunrise!). We ordered room service multiple times and it arrived promptly. All the food we ordered blew us away. Caledonia was too notch and accommodated my food allergy. We enjoyed the sky bar with Melissa and breakfast at Caledonia with Teddy. Karen at the spa called me to help arrange several fantastic and luxurious services. If she hadn't called, I may not have booked! So glad I did. Big thank-you to the ladies at the spa. You HAVE to try the head-spa experience!! The pool was lovely. The water was a perfect temp and they offer plenty of floaties. We enjoyed beer poolside thanks to Teddy. I think my favorite part was that they don't allow kids under (I think) 14. Sorry! But there should be luxury experiences available for adults only. Valhalla checked that box. I wanted to add one detail that mattered a lot to us: my husband and I are a heavily tattooed alternative couple. We live in Asheville, NC where the majority of our community looks just like us. But when we travel outside our bubble, we expect that people may treat us differently. Valhalla staff warmed up to us quickly and treated us like family. We notice these things and it always makes a difference in our experience. Thank you! We made a great choice with Valhalla. We are big Christmas people and I'd love to return for the holidays. Thanks again for everything. You made our honeymoon!

You can tell from the photos that the hotel is dated, so that was not a surprise to us. When I read the reviews and saw a 4.6-star rating, I was expecting a nice hotel, but it is a little odd. Driving up to the hotel, you're not even sure it's the entrance. We arrived, and when we got to our room, it smelled a little like smoke as well as animals. I knew they accepted dogs, but when I called beforehand, I was assured they were kept in a separate section of the hotel. Of course, later I saw a large dog in the lobby. Again, I knew they accepted dogs, so it really wasn't a problem. We went into the quaint town of Helen and never heard from anyone at the hotel, so we went to the small office desk in the lobby and asked about the smells. They moved us to the room next door. The room was comfortable, large, had a sitting area, and the shower was nice. The next morning, I took a walk around the grounds to check out the tennis court. I need to attach a picture because it was a little scary and definitely not usable. They should not advertise that they have a tennis court. As I called beforehand to make sure they had a tennis court and pickleball. The next day, we headed into Helen again and wanted to return to the hotel for just an hour or so before heading back out, but we couldn't find a parking space. We had to head down a steep hill where there were some spaces, then drove back up the hill to see if one had opened up. They have a large section of about five valet spaces. A woman from the hotel drove by on a golf cart, and my husband asked if we could park in one of the spaces for an hour. She said they were reserved for those coming for dinner. My husband sarcastically replied, "Not for those staying here for four nights?" She was a nice lady, but that seemed odd. She removed one of the cones, and we parked in one of the five open spaces. The place was very slow and seasonal. The funny thing is that after being there for two nights, and with only a few guests around, she even asked, "Well, are you staying here at the hotel?" She didn't remember us, and we had spoken with her three times. I promise you, we are easy people. We understand that nothing is going to be perfect, and we can accept that. But not remembering us after several interactions felt a little disconcerting when you're hoping for a special experience. Meanwhile, it is now the next day, and I'm sitting in the lobby. No one has come to talk to me about the tennis court. We mentioned the room smell, we mentioned the tennis court, and we had to follow up ourselves by the end of the day. It's just a little disappointing when you're looking forward to a special getaway and feel like your concerns are not being addressed. That said, we did enjoy the warm chocolate chip cookies that were available in the evenings. They were a nice touch. And I should mention our first night we had dinner at the hotel and it was good. The onion rings were our favorite. Okay, one last experience. My husband is a golfer and I am not - I am a beginner. We decided for our last day we would play golf in the afternoon even if it's just to hit on the practice range. I told my husband I do not want to bother other golfers. We go to the pro shop and my husband asks if there is a time and mentions I am a beginner and he said they were truly filled up and that is fine as we did not set an appt but when my husband mentions we'd like to practice a little on the range and you can see no one is out there at this time, he replies we don't have any practice balls as he looks around - but you are more than welcome to take the golf cart and pick up some balls yourselves. We proceed to do this and when we head down there we practice a little and another couple come down as well and they say to us, wow we've never had this before, picking up your own practice balls. Anyways, wanted to mention our last experience. It is a shame, we will never come back to Valhalla Resort again.

My husband had scheduled a massage as a gift for that afternoon. This was probably the worst experience I have had. The therapist was poor in her execution, style and even manner. Before my treatment even started she mentioned an up charge for deep tissue. During my treatment she burped two times and her massage was far from relaxing her massage etiquette as a therapist was poor and as it was my birthday it sort of ruined my whole experience there, which was a shame. I did reach out to the B&B and provided my feedback, was told the spa manager (Tanya) would reach out but she never did. Heard back from the B&B manager and she told me the owner would give me a $50 dollar credit to my treatment the next time! We live almost two hours away so will not be planning on using that any time soon. To be honest after that experience I would not go back to the spa. Title: A Blissful Retreat at Lucille's Mountain Top Inn and Spa…read more Rating: (5/5) My partner and I recently enjoyed a two-day stay at Lucille's Mountain Top Inn and Spa, and it was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, the impeccable service and breathtaking surroundings left us utterly enchanted. Firstly, I must commend Alex, the multi-talented front desk manager and concierge. Her warm welcome and exceptional hospitality set the tone for our entire stay. Alex not only ensured a smooth check-in but also provided us with valuable information about the resort and nearby attractions. Her dedication to making our stay memorable was truly impressive. Our mornings were filled with culinary delights thanks to the talented chefs, Michael and Linda. There are always 2 courses, and they typically feature some local produce and meats. Michael's breakfast creations on day one were a delightful surprise, with flavors that danced on our taste buds, especially the sausage! Linda, the breakfast chef on day two, continued the culinary excellence with a delectable breakfast that left us craving for more. The eggs with asparagus were amazing and I am super picky about my eggs. Rebecca, the waitress, deserves a special mention for her attentive and friendly service during our meals. She made dining a pleasure, always ready with a smile and quick to accommodate any request. Carla, the kitchen helper, and Cassidy, another member of the front desk and concierge team, contributed to the overall smooth operation of the inn. Their dedication behind the scenes did not go unnoticed, and it's evident that the entire staff at Lucille's is a well-oiled machine. Desserts are also served in the evening and the guests serve themselves and typically joined in the common areas, reading, chatting or playing one of the several board games available. It was delightful way to unwind. The highlight of our stay was the couples massage at the spa, a truly rejuvenating experience. The spa staff exhibited professionalism and skill, creating a tranquil atmosphere that allowed us to unwind and connect on a deeper level. Lucille's Mountain Top Inn and Spa is a place where luxury meets nature, and where every staff member goes above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay. The stunning mountain views, the impeccable service, and the attention to detail make this an oasis of relaxation and romance. We can't wait to return to this hidden gem in the mountains. Thank you, Lucille's, for making our stay unforgettable.
