Great location. You can walk into town. Cause sometimes parking is scarce. Have stayed here several times! This is the first time we were very disappointed!! Three light bulbs had to be replaced. Knob missing on stove. We spilled something on floor and when we cleaned it up the paper towels were black!! Dirty towel under edge of bed long hair in one bathroom shower. In other bath a half of corona beer and hair clasp in shower. A group of possibly 20 took over pool ALL day like from 11:30 till 7:00pm. I am not sure if any were staying there!!! Took one of our parking places had to ask them to move! They had big floats, small pool. NO one else went to pool but them. We went at 8:00pm! Also no safety bars to assist getting in and out of tubs. No hairdryer, one towel per person I do believe I over paid cleaning fee!!!! Seriously we really like staying here BUT...... read more

Feel a bit misled since the room I rented, "Rivers Edge 703" was not as pictured. The size and layout were the same, but the furniture and bedding were NOT THE SAME. I don't know which room they posted pictures of, but it wasn't 703. The bedding was more outdated, the pictures on the wall were different, etc. There were no gas logs or wood for the fireplace. I had a bit of trouble finding the room since the night clerk was terrible at directions. I had to ask twice before I found the room. I don't think he had ever crossed the street from the office to get a feel for room locations. Other than that, the studio condo was clean and very conveniently located in downtown Helen. Be sure and bring your shampoo and hairdryer, as they are not provided. read more

Cabin located in the woods. Porch and hot tub. Fireplace (no wood), outside charcoal grill. Two beds in Cabin 43. Cabin clean. Heat worked great. One mattress comfortable the other swags in the middle really bad. No extra blankets. One towel, one washcloth per person for 4 days. Ridiculous!! No hand towels, no paper towels, NO toilet paper! No soap to wash your hands. We have called constantly and still no issues resolved. We had to go to the office and get a net to clean out pine needles in the hot tub. Man in office rude and not helpful at all! Sewer smell coming up out of the drain in the kitchen. It's disgusting! We had to keep a window open just to stay there. TV worked great. Direct TV and a smart tv each room and in the living room. Some things good but unfortunately the bad outweighed the good. read more

Someone needs to condemn this facility, at least rental 101. Can't speak for the others taking care of their own villas? Apparently time share? Welp some forgot to clean, fix,even probably has not been stayed at for a long time. Heavily presence of spider webs everywhere, insect inside and out. We , my friend and I have tried emails to this people giving them a chance to respond and not a word so I'm doing t this mostly to warn people not to rent here. For 450.00 dollars for two nights we got this. I stayed awake the second night afraid a spider would get on my bed with me. Tv did not work , toilets hardly flushed after third time, there was a very mildewed smell in the air. They gave us the wrong email in the office so don't even try that. 2 lady's sitting outside morning we left and one being The manager? Seemed so surprised about our findings???? So they don't check this units before renting them out? Then the maid who doesn't even exist had the goal to leave a tip envelope???? Yikes!!!for some reason is not letting post the pot holder found in kitchen drawer from last year ? Still with BBQ sauce intact. HORRIFICALLY DISGUSTING! Stay away. Stay far, far, away! Not only is this place WAY overpriced it's not anything like advertised. The paint was peeling from all the walls. The TV in the main room is on a wall that you can't view from the sofa. The TV should be mounted on a tv mount that is moveable. The wires were hanging out and dangling from ALL the tv's, an unsightly sight and dangerous if there are small children around. They should be put inside the wall instead of dangling from the tv, or at the least tucked behind the tv. The fireplace, which was a major amenity for renting the condo, did not work. When asked why, we were told they had to shut off the gas because of a crack. This is something that should have been mentioned upon booking or at the least upon arrival and a refund should have been issued. We were charged an addition $125 for extra items which there were none. There were no paper towels, napkins, extra blankets, or pillows. This is the end of November and it was cold! The bed sheet was rough, towels were thin and cheap, and whoever they have making up the beds needs lessons. Trust me when I say DO NOT stay here. Plan your trip way ahead of time and stay somewhere nice. I'd give this disgusting establishment zero stars if I could. read more

We have stayed here in the past with good experiences each time. However, we were woke up at 1:00 AM with water dripping from the ceiling. The floor and bed were both soaked. We went across the road (in the freezing cold) to the office. The solution was the pack and move across the road- in the middle of the night might I add again. We asked 3X to be contacted by management and have yet to receive a call. We would have recommended this location before. After the conversations and professionalism of the team, I would recommend looking elsewhere. read more

On July 20, 2021, I visited this establishment to reserve Alpine Getaway 62, mainly for the Hot tub. Iwas told by the lady that it was broken, but would be fixed by the time we got there, on Oct 15, 2021. We it was not! Parts were All over the floor! I called and they gave me a $25 refund! Well it gets worse! The Chalet had two showers, one gave you hot water out of the bottom spout and cold out of the shower head, the second one was reversed! Holes in the walls and paneling coming loose and falling into the room! The final nail was a strong sense of meldew/mold! I asked for a half refund and got nothing. When I got home I turned it into the BBB of Atlanta and they could not get a response and closed my case. Check out other YELP reviews on this property! The town of Helen is getting a bad name because of them, so don't rent and tell your friends! Helen is a beautiful place. read more

I have to say - we were very worried when we pulled up. The parking lot has seen better days, and the lobby to check in was a bit of a dive. Unfortunately a mistake with out first place forced us to not have a place to stay after driving to Helen on a Friday night during Octoberfest. This place was one of the only remaining with vacancy. We were not in position to negotiate the $210 per night. When we opened the door - fearing the worst, we were surprised, in a good way. The inside was clean and nicely renovated. There we two bedroom rooms and a common living room/kitchen - suite style. Full kitchen with basic plates/pots/pans. A gas-powered fireplace (on a timer) and 3 different porches (we were on the 2nd floor). The bed that we tried was very comfortable. WiFi would have been nice and the rugs are obviously on the replacement list still - but our little dog didn't mind (yes - dogs are allowed with a $100 deposit). Location was very good for down town access - but far enough away that there wasn't a ton of noise. All-in-all, we salvaged an almost disasterous weekend. I would say to not let the outside deceive you - and if you have a family or a 2nd couple - this could be an ideal spot (see pictures). read more

We booked a unit at Bavarian Brook Rentals on Airbnb. We paid about $142 per night including taxes (it was high season - August). For that amount of money, I expect a place to have the bare necessities at least. BRR didn't quite live up to those expectations. It was a bit dirty (our feet were black after walking around barefoot for a few minutes). The kitchen, while very nice looking (stainless steel appliances, granite counters, island) was SPARSE. If you're thinking of cooking here, you better bring some of your own things, because the kitchen had diner salt and pepper shakers, about 20 plates, a set of really cheap and easily breakable silverware, and some very old and scratched up pans and sheet pans. We had to make an extra run to the dollar store down the street to grab more things so that we could cook in the rental. And, wifi in Helen is TERRIBLE. They'll give you a wifi and password, but it won't work. So you're stuck with some very basic TV channels unless you decide to bring some sort of other device with you (a DVD player, for example). The unit was spacious and the location was great (we walked a lot of places), but it definitely didn't seem like it warranted the price we paid, and I wouldn't stay again. read more

We rented the Alpine Getaway 62 cabin. When we arrived, we found about 150+ dead bugs on the floor of the living room. We were appalled. We went to the office to complain and the guy called the cabin owner. The owner said he would credit back some of our money due to the bugs BUT HE NEVER DID. On top of that, only half of the hot tub jets work. That was a little disappointing. I understand that they're a lot of upkeep but if you're going to charge over $150/night to stay, everything better be working. Such a rip off. DO NOT RENT ALPINE GETAWAY 62 from these people unless you like a cabin full of dead bugs and a hot tub where only half the jets work. read more

Absolutely the worst rental I have ever stayed in. We rented alpine getaway 62 for the weekend and Was by no means a rentable cabin. Infested with bees and bugs, garbage everywhere, Hot tub did not work, no wash machine( they told me to go to the laundry mat in downtown), Fire pit was a burn spot in the front yard, Front porch is about to fall off the front of the house due to wood rot. Neither TV worked because it appears they did not pay the cable bill. Landscaping hasn't been probably all year. I Called the office to complain and talk to them but they did not care. Only stayed 2 off the 3 nights that we paid for. Then I asked them for the owners info to call and they would only gave me a fake email address. Apparently the owner of the rental company also owns this cabin. Zero standards in the hospitality/ vacation rental business. read more

So after a 4.5hr drive we arrived at the location for check in. My wife and I went inside and waited for someone to come out to the front desk. Finally I knocked loudly on the door and a young man came to the front desk. He WAS NOT very sociable and was kind of rude. I remember telling my wife he shouldn't be in customer service. Anyway we rented the cabin at 24 Red Fox Lane. At first impression, I noticed the outside WAS NOT kept up. From a safety standpoint, as you walked up to the first step at the bottom of the stair case the first step was at least 18in high due to water erosion and was muddy with roots sticking out of the ground. Then as we walked up the stairs we immediately noticed that the outside of the cabin was weather worn and obviously not maintained. A lot of the other cabins were well maintained and the wood was stained nicely. The hot tube at least worked! After we got in the cabin and settled in we noticed that even though the AC was on the cabin was very humid so we opened the windows and shut off the ac because you couldn't get comfortable. The kitchen table legs were so lose that the tabled swayed approx 3in in each direction. The cooking utensils that were provided were minimal and very cheap. The worst part of it all was that the neighbors were not in a rental home it was their home. At approximately 1145pm-midnight the neighbors were fighting. One of them was laying on their horn repeatedly and the woman was screaming at the top of her lungs. Woke both my wife and I. I can go on and on but you get the point. I have pictures of everything but there's no where to post them. Anyway It appears that the owners aren't interested in our safety or maintaining this cabin. they would rather just rent it out an pocket the money. This cabin costs over $600.00 for 3 days. read more

I am writing to you regarding our stay this past weekend, Friday and Saturday night, in room 104. We left a day early because the jetted tub in our room would not work, which was why we chose this room in the first place. There were no lightbulbs in the lamps in the bedroom or the living room. And the pullout sleeper, the mattress was so worn and old that you could feel the bars and springs through it. When I went to fold it back up, the frame of the couch bent and we had to wrangle it to get the mattress part back into the frame so we could sit on the couch. I cannot believe the black coloration of the ceilings, the old and worn pillows and sheets on the bed. What a terrible, unkept room. Also, we tried sitting on the porch, but there was so much debris and dirt in the slats of the porch above, that every time someone up there walked, we were showered with dirt and debris. We tried calling the office, but no one answered Friday night to fix the jetted tub and get light bulbs. Saturday morning, when my husband went to the office it was closed and so he called the emergency number and left a message. No one called back within an hour. Having no choice (as they were closed on Sunday also), we returned our key and left another message. Still no one has responded to us regarding the condition of the room. Also, there was no wi-fi available, basic cable channels with terrible signal and the remote didn't work and not even a courtesy packet of coffee for the coffee pot. We have requested that one night be refunded, but still no response from the management. DO NOT STAY HERE. read more

Do not stay here! They charged $180 a night and I was told the hot tub had a leak after I was checking in. Given this it is Ocktober Fest in Helen it is difficult to find another place to stay. Once getting to the cabin you can see by these pictures that hot tub had not been working or cleaned for quite some time. I will report to BBB as well until all of my $$ has been refunded. read more

We chose this place for our Christmas vacation because the rooms appeared to be original and decently priced. For $95 we actually got a really nice room, close to the main road in Helen. The room is clean and nicely decorated, it looks like a mountain cabin. It has a full kitchen, two TVs, two balconies and a really nice sofa. So far, we love it. read more

Well, we booked this cabin last minute and due to the holiday weekend it was our last option available. After reading the reviews, I was terrified. The customer service needs some improvement. You can call the business for yourself and see what I mean when they answer the phone. I asked the young man at the desk if I could see the cabin (cabin 25) before they charge me and he told me no. I mentioned the reviews and he said people just like to run their mouths. I was pretty surprised about that. We took a leap of faith, again because of our circumstances, and I wasn't completely disappointed. Other than a funky smell and a few dead bugs it was all around decent. For the money, I wouldn't suggest this place. You can get a lot more for your dollar elsewhere. They only provided us with a quarter roll of paper towels and a half roll of toilet paper. The hot tub was well kept and clean. The sheets were clean, I checked and no signs of bed bugs which is ALWAY a plus. If this place was a last resort I'd say go for it. This place was a dump. The mattress had such holes in it that a very pregnant woman could have slept face down with no problem. My husband and I took turns sleeping on the couch so the other could sleep in the center of the bed where it wasn't quiet as bad. Told them we needed another mattress to no avail. The comforter smelled of pee and sex. I went to the office to ask for blankets to cover up with and was given two that had more hair on them than my brush. Very disappointed!!!! $140/night..... The young guy that checked us in was very uncaring. When I went to tell them about the mattress there was an older man with a cane and he said if he could find one he would have to bring it over himself....told him not to bother. This Place is a dump! Wow we were fooled. The pictures look pretty decent online but when we got there. OMG! The origingal room we got was gross so we asked to be moved to another room. They let us look a 2 different ones and neither where that much better. We choose the one that seemed the cleanest but the 1975 decor and the bed mattress must have been from that decaded too. The beds sucked and where sqeekie. They charge high prices and about the only luxury you will get is some toilet paper. Just take my advice and stay away from this dive. read more

We booked a last minute trip to Helen for the 16th-18th of September. A lot of the rooms that we were finding was over $120 a night and we were looking to spend under $100. We booked room 803b, which was a riverfront room. The room had a King size bed, with a mini-fridge and microwave. Looked like it had been renovated recently. We were a short 2 block walk to the Festhalle and about 3 blocks from the main shopping area in Helen. Outside right on the river there is an area to BBQ/Picnic as well as several swings to just sit in and enjoy the peacefulness the river brings. We look forward to returning to Helen and would recommend staying at the Bavarian Brook Rentals. read more

Two stars are generous. But we did meet some nice people in the other apartments. First very 1970s. You would think they would at least have done some minor upgrades in 30+ years. The bathroom faucet leaks. The toilet from upstairs leaks through the ceiling directly on to 1st floor toilet (nasty). Apt had 3 bathrooms for the 2 bedrooms nice but one toilet did not refill after flushing. Sheets do not fit bed and came off bad every night. Towels were stained. Not one matching coffee cup or glass or silverware - not a huge deal but really go to Walmart and spend 30 bucks. 1 cereal bowl. Carpet was filthy. Told the desk about the toilet and like my friend said "his give a damn was busted" basically blew everything off with a nonchalant attitude. Ended up dismantling a bed to out mattress on floor due to bed noise and poor support. Had a good time in Helen in town ect. Well, we rented room #16, a 2 bedroom condo. It's not the worst place I've ever stayed, but not the best either. Was it clean? Not by my standards, but it wasn't exactly a roach motel. The granite counter tops (nice) were gritty to the touch (not nice) as if they hadn't been wiped down. The dishes in the cupboards were not clean, but I tend to wash that kind of thing before I let my family use it anyway. The A/C was off when we arrived and the thermostat said 82 degrees, but it did cool down after running a few hours. There was a faint smell of wet dog that went away after the A/C ran a while and we bought some air freshener. The shower curtains had a little mold on them, but just need to be changed as it wasn't a disturbing amount . . . yet. If you looked in the toilets, they both had mold growing under the bowl rim. I don't think the kitchen table had been wiped down as it was a little sticky. The oven door was missing the front cover, and we chose not to use it b/c I'm not sure if part of the heat shield was gone or not. The bathroom was missing a towel rack, but you could see where it had been pulled out of the wall. The beds were less than comfy. Overall, I didn't hate it, but definitely wished I would have done some research before checking in. Won't stay here again. The wifi never worked either, as I see another guest mentioned. If you have a choice, there are definitely better options for the same price. I will echo what others have said about the office staff not caring and being rude. Sometimes family owned establishments take pride in offering great service to protect their family name; other times, like this one, family means that they are always right and don't care about guest comfort. read more
