We were told to arrive at 7:30 a.m., so we drove over an hour to get there, trusting their word. Despite this, we were made to wait until 10:00 a.m. just for anesthesia, with no clear explanation and no concern for a 4-year-old child who was already scared and uncomfortable. After the surgery, I was horrified to see that no one bothered to clean the blood from my daughter's mouth--her mouth was left full of blood. This is basic care and should never be ignored, especially when treating a child. This experience was distressing, careless, and completely unacceptable. The excessive waiting time, lack of professionalism, and poor post-surgery care show a serious lack of respect for patients and families. I strongly do not recommend this place. If anyone considers going there, do not assume they will do what they say--double-check everything, because we deeply regret trusting them. read more

Before I called the state, I spoke to someone new to medi cal, I was on the other line listening. She lied and told her that she tried explaining it to me when all she kept saying was I still had kaiser as her insurance, call them, I am going to tell her primary dentist that we denied the referral and hung up the phone. But speaking to someone else, she told her what was really going on, I don't appreciate the unprofessional behavior the receptionist has. Instead of listening she talked over me. So instead of finding out the information myself, I had to find out from listening to a 3rd party, when she also could have explained how everything works as well Bottom line, I moved to a different dentist and I also read reviews with I should have done beforehand. My daughter is a Type 1 diabetic and they looked at everything (endocrinologist last visit notes, Dexcom and tandem reports), and explained EVERYTHING to me step by step! They were even able to speak with my insurance and get authorization approved the same day as my son was in pain! ! My son was referred here by his dentist. Lysette BY FAR has the shittiest attitude, and it is no wonder why her photo is the only one that isn't displayed online. She was rude and hung up mid conversation. After calling the insurance company and doing what was asked to help in fixing the issue with the insurance, she flat out said that she won't be calling to verify the information to proceed. Mr. Panjkaj Patel and Mr. Shailesh K. Patel (Owners), you have quite the liability on your hands. After seeing the overall rating of your business, it is clear that there isn't much pride that is taken in managing the professionalism of your staff. The lack of her photo further indicates that you KNOW that Lysette is a problem and there is a gross mismanagement of your staff. Did I mention that she KNEW she messed up, and she texted my sister and claimed she NEVER hung up when she was on speaker phone? And now my sister is banned?!?! FOR WHAT?!?! PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW THIS MAKES SENSE?? Also, before Lysette, there was supposed to be follow up conversations from Diana and Sandy. No one ever responded or had the professional courtesy to follow up. If 0 stars were possible this is what we would give. This is the singular most unprofessional medical experience that I have ever had with any of my children. My mother chose this location, which I wasn't the happiest about due to the bad reviews, however this seemed to one of the only locations that would accept the insurance we had so reluctantly we brought our 3/almost 4 year old baby. The baby had to have 2 root canals and 2 crowns under general anesthesia. But when we got home after the procedure, and as I started watching my child, it became clear that sonethibg was wrong. She could no longer close her mouth all of the way. The crowns that Dr. Thomas had placed were too high so that the baby's other teeth could no longer make contact. This also caused the baby to continuously drool as she could not close her mouth, and when she ate she almost chokes because she cannot chew her food well enough which forces her to have to swallow her food in larger chunks; and she sometimes cannot quite get the food down. When she sleeps, her pillow is completely wet the next morning because she cannot close her mouth and its causing her to excessively drool, AND she now speaks with a lisp which she never had this speech problem before. When I called the dentist office back and explained these issues with Dr. Thomas, she responded with "Oh, I dont believe that is a bad as you say it is". This was very unprofessional and I requested that an appointment be made so that she could see the problems with the crowns with her own eyes. I ended up speaking with the office manager who was very apologetic and stated that when we brought our baby back she would see the head dentist, Dr. Patel, instead of Dr. Thomas. When we came in for the follow up exam Dr. Patel seemed rushed, and was very cold and direct and seemed reluctant to even see us. He was so abrupt with my baby that she almost became afraid and wouldn't let him touch her. I calmed her down and he did his inspection, and afterwards told me that there was nothing wrong with her crowns! He stated that my baby's teeth never touched/made contact before, and so this was normal. I asked him how he could know that when A. He did not do the procedure himself, and B. I've been with this child from birth and since she's had teeth she has never had a problem with her teeth making contact. She's never spoken with a lisp, nor has she drooled, or had trouble eating, not untill Dr. Thomas placed these crowns. He also admitted that they never even took pictures of her bite before the procedure. I tried to explain to Dr. Patel that we are not happy with the work and that the crowns needed to be adjusted. He litterally stood up, told me to "take her somewhere else then", turned his back on the baby and I, and walked out. This again, is the single most unprofessional, unaccountable, medical experience that I have ever had with one of my children and I will never bring my children back here or recommend this facility to anyone. They are unprofessional and seem just in it for the money. There are many more reputable locations to take children in the south bay, whi actually love what they do and 'care' for children. And I feel so guilty and sorry to my child that she's having this terrible experience and now will gave to have this very serious procedure done all over again at another facility. I would give this place 0 star if I could. Management lack of proper training for their employees, unprofessionalism encountered. Their receptionist called me after they got approval from my daughter's insurance, to set up an appointment for the next day because they have availability at 11AM. The fact that we waited awhile for that process, I took whatever was available. Keep in mind it's Lunar New Year today, I'm driving from Oakland (imagine the traffic), and my daughter was told to start fasting at 12AM last night. We arrived earlier than appointment time to fill out paperwork and submit the required documents. 15 minutes later, I came up to the receptionist and asked what's going on since her appointment was at 11AM. She came back out after asking the people in the back and told me they "are running behind, their cases are backed up, and it'll be for awhile" and can't tell me how long. So when were they planning to let us and everyone else waiting know, or did they just expect us to waste our time and wait?? What's more absurd was when she told me the appointment I made wasn't an appointment but a registration only and that I should've EXPECTED to wait 3-6 hours before EVEN getting called in. So over the phone she confirmed that they have availability at 11AM for what then? Also, over the phone she told me the procedure will take 3 hours overall. Nothing was mentioned that you'll come in to "register" and wait for 3-6 hours, meaning my daughter will have to continue fasting for as long as they expect us to wait. I wouldn't had taken the appointment, had I known. I'd question her professionalism when she said it's 11AM (counting her fingers) and said we'll be out by 5-6PM. When I told her I wasn't expecting all this, and thought it was a 3 hour procedure from appointment time, and that I've came from Oakland, she said, "that's the thing, everyone from Oakland comes here". Basically saying good luck finding another place. I just canceled it, I'm not waiting until 5-6PM for my daughter to be seen, since typically they're already expecting people to wait 3-6 hours but today they're super backed up. Wow! What a great and caring service from everyone here at the center. I'm honestly impressed and very happy with our experience. The front desk was very helpful with the whole process, yes it does take some time prior to receiving an appointment. To get all the insurance authorizations processed but very worth the wait. Once we received our appointment I made sure to ASK questions prior to arriving which were very helpful on what to expect. The front dest also gave great suggestions as in how long to expect on the whole procedure with wait time, to bring extra clothes just in case and even a snack for myself while I wait. Since you can't leave the waiting area while your child is in surgery. The day we arrived my daughter and I were both nervous but the environment at the office is calm. I really appreciate how all the staff from the front desk, nurses, anesthesiologists to the doctor are very nice and informative! They answered all my questions and concerns along with making sure my daughter felt comfortable. The whole process was very pleasant and honestly I'm glad I brought my daughter here for her treatment. If there any parents who are worried about bringing their special needs child. I suggest you mention that at the beginning of your appointment so they can confirm with the health records. We were happy to receive the first appointment of the day which was 6:30 am. Just remember that they only work on one child at a time that is why they inform you on a estimated wait time. Lastly my advice is to come with another adult so when you go home that person can sit in the back with your child. Because your child will be drowsy and won't be able to walk on their on. read more

We were there for 3 hours! Got in at 7:30 am & was out by 10am. Thank you for making sure my daughter was taken care of. She is recovering and already feeling better. I made an appointment 2 months ago for my 10 year old son who has autism. They were told he has autism at the time and we were given an appointment for 10AM 8/30. We arrived this morning at 9:45 AM and I completed all of the paperwork. They have a one room lobby, no toys for children and only a Television playing loudly with an animated children's film. One of the other patrons there with a 2 year old daughter walked up and asked them how long is the wait, because she had been there for 2.5 hours. ( This is an anesthesia dental office for young children and children with special needs. All children waiting here were fasting. ) She was told she could leave and come back with her daughter and her father was waiting in the lobby. At this point we had been there for an hour and 15 minutes. The thought that i may be in this lobby for another 2 hours with my son before his appointment was preposterous. Autistic children do not sit in chairs for hours on end and remain well behaved. I asked if I could take him for a walk and they could call me. They initially told me yes and then told me they may need to do a pre op on him before the surgery. So we waited and they called us into the back. There in the hallway the receptionist and the office manager told us that we could not go to the park ( as the receptionist had told us) and that we could walk around outside. The office manager told me if I did not like this I could come back. It had taken 2 months to get to the date of the appointment. I told them i was willing to wait, but I could not count on my sons behavior. She then asked me why didn't I tell them he was autistic which I firmly told her that I had when I made the appointment mentioned who referred us and that my son was autistic and that he could not be worked on without anesthesia. When I again mentioned that their lobby was inadequate and that the loud television was giving me a head ache she told me that she would refer me somewhere else, but I could not stay. I told her not to bother. I know another place to go and we left. They were rude, ill trained, not set up for special needs kids and they had 5 families in there waiting for their procedures and were 2 children ahead of us when I had already been there for over an hour? YES dental procedures can vary in times, but that place is a cattle call and I have never been treated so insultingly. I highly recommend you avoid them and i intend to tell the bay area autism community as well. read more

Incompetent nurse and staff. I was helping a family I know out and drove them to their appt. Unfortunately, they wasted the family's time and my time. Make you and your child wait a long time 2 hrs after your scheduled appt time with a kid who hasn't eaten for more than 12 hrs! Won't solve problems in order to fix an issue that actually had a simple solution. The kid went to the clinic no less than an hour later and he was fine and there was no reason to cancel his appt. guess they cranky since needed lunch too like my kid did. They took very good care of my daughter and did their best in putting me and my husbands nervousness away. The nurses were very sweet and patience with my two year old. I would just suggest to any parent that would take their toddler here to try to schedule their child first. My husband and I wait at most three hours which went by fast. Ok update from last post: I was so pissed after the last posting that I called the primary dentist office and ripped them a new one for even referring people here and causing some of the back and forth issues with this place. They requested I give them another shot stating "dentist here are great, it's just the crappy front desk that makes things look bad." I called yesterday for appt, and guess who answered the phone?! Yup it was same girl but I didn't realize it right away but In fairness she was very professional and pleasant. I'm sure she realized who I was once she pulled up our info. She got us in for early this morning when they opened. She was very nice at the and courteous this time (well damnit I was ready for a face to face war with this chick, lol). We were 2nd to be called into surgery, and out by 930a. The whole process was smooth, anesthesiologist was nice, and the doctor was really sweet, she helped me relax and explained everything they were going to do and if any other things came up they came out to tell me before they proceeded. Very pleased with everyone today. 630-signed in and paperwork 700-medical questionnaire with M.A. 730-Dr came and took 1st patient 815-Anesthesiologist called us back to make sure all info was correct and gave an injection to put you to sleep (worked on like 45 secs) 830-update and x-ray findings discussed 900-I'm starting to panic, but then updated all went well 930-we're going home So with all that being said, it was a good experience. I'm just gonna chalk that 1st encounter review up as her just having a bad day, or they are really starting to pay attention to all there reviews. Anesthesiologist Belli performed an injection to my 41 lb 6 yr old son. Clearly that is an underweight class for the age, she asked me to hold him while sitting in a chair before she performed the shot. The needle was at least an inch and half and my sons arm is about two and quarter inch wide. Any one reading this can generalize that you wouldn't shoot in a needle forcefully into that size of an arm, well that's what Belli, an anesthesiologist at a children's dental surgery institute just did. ARE PEOPLE GOING MAD?! These are children here! Do you think my son will ever voluntarily walk into a dentist place ever again after that experience?!?! Thanks BELLI! appreciate the future moments of major tantrum after this traumatic experience while you earn the big bucks! Oh and she has the nerve to say while putting on a band aid on the spot where blood was seeping out of, "aw you moved!" "Some of the medicine came out". She carelessly overlooked the fact that I was holding my sons arm with a tiger grip and never let it move a centimeter even with the after shock I received from the jolt like force. -- some of you parents or people may be saying, "oh I've been there before, it is the way it is." No, it isn't and you have to stand up to it. There are tons of malpractices happening every single day and if people do not speak up, our healthcare will never improve! Obama and Trump are not in charge of the care we receive, we are! Take action and rid of individuals who don't want to improve their skill set for the betterment. One positive thing I must say, the actual surgeon performing the procedure was very calm and understanding, but I've not even stepped out of this place yet. Let's see what else happens. Great service! First time here. My 3 year old had work done and she's doing well. It did take up to 4 hours ONLY because it is a SURGERY center. They have to prep you, there's briefing, paperwork, and not to mention there may be others ahead of you, so the complaining about the time is expected. I took my 5 year old in for surgery this past week and after I read the reviews I was very nervous so I went two weeks before surgery just to check it out and I was very pleased. Surgery day came and like most people we waited 2 hours to get seen but I completely understand why, I mean I don't want the Dr to rush my child's procedure bc someone is annoyed. The staff was all wonderful and they took great care of my daughter. I definitely would recommend them. Also they come keep parents updated while their child is in surgery which made me feel a lot more at ease since this was a first time for us. read more

I am very peticular on how I want things.... however, with very few places accepting our insurance, I was limited. Despite the negative feedback from others, I found this place to be great. let me begin by saying i was super terrified about putting my 3 year old to sleep under general anesthesia my son has large tonsils and that was my main concern since he does mouth breath alot at night i got multiple opinions went to diffrent dental offices and all said my baby needed to be put to sleep for his dental work... i did tons of research talked to friends who have went through this type of procedure and after talking to my husband we both agreed on putting him to sleep and started the process ... it was not easy but we were very positive and faithful it would all be ok... our experience was great girls answered the phone when i called appts were made accordingly and they answered all my questions when i called no problem there... The day of our appt here we are checking in at 630am first case of the day i am a nervous wreck crying terrified of whats about to happen i check in fill out paper work jeanette was amazing in helping get this taken care of at about 6:55am we go to the back and my son has vitals taken nurse christina asks questions on my sons health and explains step by step what i am about to sign... at about 7:05am my son is takenken back with my husband and is put to sleep with iv sedation then wheeled in to xrays 7:20am we get the treatment my son will be having and the waitting begins he is under general anesthesia multiple drs by his side being monitored 50min later he is out and in recovery ready to go home... dr patel did an amazing job explaining everything that was done to my son he was fully awake by the time we got home all protocals were followed jeannete christina and the rest of the nurses here really did a wonderful job ... this is a surgery center so expect to be here 3-6hrs we were here 3and a half hrs plan your visit well....thank you very much bay area dental i would highly recommend this place to any parent ... our experience was great and we thank you for your carem read more

My son is special needs and needs to be put to sleep to have work done. I have Medical for Families so it is very hard to find decent dental providers. Unfortunately I don't see this difficulty coming to an end after having dealt with these people. I called to make an appointment after receiving a referral from my son's current dental provider and all I got were VERY RUDE receptionists with no feeling or caring about the person on the other end of the line. They were greatly concerned about how they were going to get paid though. I am not even going to go into detail about what they charge for or how they charge for it. I tried to ask questions and get some help from them and all I got was attitude, disconcern and hung up on with none of my past calls ever returned. Apparently just because we have Medical for Families this means we can be treated this way by places like this. I hopped onto Yelp to check the reviews and now after seeing all these negative reviews I am so happy I did not have to go to them. I read the reviews the day or my son's appointment and I was very apprehensive that history may repeat itself. But fortunately my experience was the opposite. My son is autistic so taking him a traditional dentist to get his routine dental work done isn't an option for us. I have done a lot of research and cold called many dental offices and none of the dental offices met our needs until I called Bay Area surgery center. I explained my situation and the gal suggested that I take their first appointment time available which 7:00am. Due to the fact that we were their first patient of the day I didn't experience any issues whatsoever. The staff has its own onsite anesthesiologist and RN and both are very accommodating and knowledgable. For the others that commented on the office's ambiance and etc, please bear in mind that they are not a pediatric dental office it's a dental surgery center. There is another pediatric dental that treats both in San Jose and I would have my son go there however they have a ridiculous policy that their surgery time slots are by age group strictly. So my sons appointment would have been at 2:00pm. Any mother would agree having a small child with special needs to fast for that long is clearly out of the question. For parents of children with special needs, I would definitely recommend this dental office BUT please take the earliest appointment available. read more

Absolutely the worst. First they double book their child patients every hour. This means that if one child's surgery takes more than an hour at 9:00 am (and it always does) the second child for the 9:00 am appointment is now interfering with the appointments for the next two children waiting for their 10:00 appt. Therefore all of the children continually have to wait much much longer and longer. Why does this matter? They CANNOT eat. My son was not allowed to eat for 5 hours!! He is a growing hungry 7 year old. 5 hours!!! all because they are too greedy to only schedule one child per hour which other dental centers do. In addition their surgeons are shady taking way too many breaks and lunches, going out the back door, not addressing parents adequately. They bank on the "poor" Hispanics who are too afraid to questions about the process because they don't have "papers" and have no money. They should not, we are too smart for that. This clinic needs to be reviewed. In addition their front desk staff lie about your wait time and the scheduling. DO NOT TRUST THIS CLINIC. They'll hurt your child not help them. read more

IVE seen more bad reviews than good. But with coming to this place today i learned that its a typical dental surgery facility. The dental team was very professional. They kept me informed of everything going on and even showed me pictures of the areas that needed work. My son's procedure was quick. 45mins. But I guess it also depends on the amount and what kind of work needs to be done. So don't expect a quick procedure. I've seen a few reviews of complaints about a wait time. The wait time is to be expected it is a SURGERY center. If they did everything so fast important factors could be missed it's not like going to a regular dental check up. Your child goes under here, so doctors and nurses have to make sure they're very careful. I noticed that they take one patient at a time. Which I think is smart. It's surgery it's already complicated no matter how small it might be so the less stress the better the procedures will go. Not to mention these are children not adults and more care goes into handling a child,right?. So cut this place a little slack. Except for their CHAIRS. The office could use a friendlier kiddy atmosphere and NEW CHAIRS. The CHAIRS look like they're hand me downs. But they're just chairs I would rather the equipment they use be in tip top shape rather than the chairs lol. I think that this place has received the negative reviews because maybe the parents weren't familiar with surgery and how surgery can take a while. Aslo with this place working on one patient at a time you can be sure to expect a wait. Also keep in mind that the procedure can take longer or less depending on the work that needs to be done. Believe me I was scared of this place at first. Only because I heard the words "put to sleep". I think the hard part is waiting for them to wake up so you can confirm that your baby is okay. Other than that I rate this place 4 stars maybe that's a little high but being a dental professional I can say they follow proper protocols. this place was really great with my son and me. i was hesitant to go based on reviews but i was referred here by my sonss dentist based on ins.so i went. apt at 7:30 he was seen about 8am if not sooner we talked to nurse dr. and anesthesiologist we left about 9:30 i live in fremont and was home before 10 my timin g there was good since alot of ppl complained on being there for hours but they do say you will be there from 3-6 hours depending on work needed and anesthesia im glad i did take my son he had a abscess on a broken tooth taken care of.and other work that was needed the front staff was very pleasant along with the dr.and nurses. they were very thorough with all the information for me about the procedures and what would happen. they gave him his sleppy shot which took place in like 30 secs. then took xrays came out with the pictures and went over the treatment plan i agreed with the treatment and they began. they were good with keeping me updated on him. when they were done the dr. talked to me and said everything went great give it about 30 min for him to wake up. when he did the nurse called me about 30 min later he was still asleep but could answer back she helped put him in the wheel chair and took him to my car. i had a great experience with this place and staff. even over phone and making apt.i would recommend this place read more

I took my daughter in yesterday for removal of two extra baby teeth that were affecting her permanent teeth. I had a standing appointment for later in the month but asked to be placed on a wait list in case of a cancellation. I got a call on Friday for an opening on Monday, I was one of two first appointments of the day and was told that I could be there by 6:15 am, which I was. Another patient arrived about 10 min after me, the office lobby opened at 6:30. I filled out all the paperwork quickly and was called in first. I found the office to be clean. Everyone explained everything clearly to me and answered all of my questions. The anesthesiologist, nurse and oral surgeon were very professional. All the staff were great. My daughter surgery went very well, we were done by 9 am. Also I was given a discount on sealants that my insurance did not cover. Yes, I agree it is difficult to have a child fasting, When I got the appointment they explained that the wait time can increase due to previous patients needing more work then expected. I would recommend trying to get the earliest appointment available. read more
