We actually loved coming here for our regular dental cleanings and x-rays, which were every 6 months. Dr. Thai and his team were always respectful, efficient at what they do, and informative. I would give them 5 stars for that. My husband would get his occasional cavity, but that always got resolved here. But, I always felt off about how fast Dr. Thai's cleanings were... After moving away recently, our current dentist stated that my husband's periodontal disease (which Dr. Thai never stated it like that, he would minimize it by just calling it "gum recession") is the same level of loss people have when they are age 50-60+ and required deep cleaning, or in specific dental terms, scaling and root planing. This process requires local anesthesia and is way more in depth, which Dr. Thai has NEVER done for my husband previously. He has only done basic cleanings. Comparing the x-rays from the past 2 years, it has gotten worse. Dr. Thai has never oriented it that way. He never referred my husband either, for example if he couldn't do the deep cleanings. If he had done the deep cleanings, apparently it could have slowed the progression of this periodontal disease. I have a brother in his 3rd year of dental school, and he confirmed all of this too. In the end, it seems like Dr. Thai prioritizes speed and volume to maximize the amount of daily patients he can take. I understand that, in the Bay Area, it is tough to turn a profit in such a business. But this is at the risk of patient's long term health! Whoever is reading this, please make sure you get a secondary opinion regarding the care you receive. And please don't be naive like us.

Dr. Wong's assistant walked me through the 360 x-rays and interior & exterior scans very carefully (you get a 3D model of your teeth after that, which is really cool!) Dr. Wong went over my scans teeth by teeth and answered my questions. After that, he cleaned my teeth and removed all the stains and buildup. He was careful and avoided touching my gums, which I'm usually nervous about. Overall, I had a perfect visit, and would definitely recommend Dr. Wong to all my friends!

I waited 40 minutes for the extraction and he cancelled the root canal twice -- once while I was already in his office for the procedure and another time by phone. I went to a different dentist who showed me the exray that indicated no root canal was necessary. Dr. Galang told me the tooth he extracted was loose but he had a very difficult time removing it so I'm skeptical that it was necessary. I made a very poor decision based on the fact that he took my insurance.

She recommends crowns and crowns and crowns, rarely addressing any of the standard care topics here in the US. The entire visit felt more like a dental surgeon chomping at the bit for well, more surgery. Old habits die hard, and some of these old habits are certainly playing for gold medal at the Olympics.
