The class was informative and the instructor, Lori H, was entertaining, considering the subject matter! Class went by quickly (8hrs) and we were well prepared for the test at the end. THAT was greatly appreciated! I only have 2 issues... 1-the talkers towards the front of the room: They were distracting. It was sometimes difficult to hear the instruction and discussion. They should have been asked to take their discussion outside.. but not a deal breaker.. 2- why didn't I sit closer to the front? Well, the classroom chairs were highschool-like desk/chair combo seats. Very small and very uncomfortable (as other smaller people told me). My leg couldn't even fit halfway in. I had to sit on an office chair in the back and pulled a desk, backwards, towards me for a writing surface. Pretty embarrassing. Please consider having single tables and chairs for those of us that need a bit more room. 8 hours slouching and my back is aching today... There are 3 ladies that work there, that are the kindest, sweetest and most compassionate angels I have ever met. They put up with me through incessant my questions, they guided me through a myriad of tasks that needed to be addressed, any problem that I was faced with they all helped get me through the process. They were kind, profoundly patient, incredibly knowledgeably and one of the sweetest group of ladies I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Nobody wants to attend traffic school but these ladies made it so bearable. They are truly a joy and in a climate of folks not caring about helping people these gals are angels of mercy and compassion. They are amazing, I wish I could give them a hundred stars. My son did drivers ed and drivers training through Bay Area Driving school. They were fantastic! He was well prepared for the permit test after the drivers ed. He has just finished the drivers training with Yona Lightstone. She was FANTASTIC. He said she was so calming and never made him nervous. She was very encouraging, and spoke in a calm manner. She chatted as they drove, with was calming and he said more realistic to what is like in the car with family (we chat and it is not silent). We had some very rainy days during his classes, and she helped him to know what to do. She also took him on the freeway! He now has practice to do, but he feels he is well on his way to be prepared to take the driving test for his license when the time comes! We opted for the full 6 hours of lessons, and feel it is well worth him being safe and prepared! read more

Erika was my driving instructor and she was AMAZING! She helped me so much to become a confident and defensive driver! You can really tell she cares that you fully understand what is going on. For example I didn't really understand blind spots and she got out of the car and showed me how I couldn't see her in some positions relative to the car. I had an AMAZING experience with BADS, specifically with John (my driving instructor) and Angel (the office manager). I purchased the "Adult License the works" package + additional lessons on top of that package. Before starting my lessons, I had an intense fear of driving. I've been in over 10 car accidents (as a passenger) and I have chronic pain because of it. I was terrified of the idea of driving, because of my many injuries but also that I could possibly hurt someone. This fear made me genuinely believe I was never going to get my drivers license. I'm 26 years old and I decided that this year was my time to conquer my fear. After getting my permit at the DMV, I did research online to see if any driving schools in the area worked with anxious drivers, specifically adults. I found BADS and decided to call and ask questions. I spoke with Angel (the office manager) and she was so sweet, kind, and not judgmental at all. I told her about my fear of driving (and causes of it) and that I'd like to work with whichever instructor she'd recommend for me. She chose John and I'm so thankful for her recommendation. She was so sweet anytime we spoke, especially with the phone call reminders. She even wished me luck when she called to remind me about my drive test appointment. That was amazing customer service and support. When I first met John, I explained that I was really scared of driving, but that I was willing to try. If someone could be patient with me and take their time, I was willing to overcome the anxiety and fear. He was EXTREMELY patient with me and checked in occasionally to make sure that I was okay. He would offer me breaks and ask me if there was anything else he could do better to support me. That was the patience and kindness that really helped me believe that I could actually do this. He's also quite the comedian so that always helped my anxiety too. Laughter definitely helps with anxiety and he always had me laughing every time I was in the car. I don't think there was a single lesson where I didn't laugh at least 5 times As the weeks passed on, I found that I was becoming less scared every time I had a lesson with John. Even though I was the one behind the wheel, I knew I was safe. John gives great instructions and he has the skills to take control of the situation if something happens. He also never made me feel bad for asking questions, even if they were the simple ones. I had zero knowledge about driving and he wasn't judgmental about that. He genuinely seemed to enjoy teaching me about driving. He taught me everything I needed to know, whether it was going to be on the DMV test or not. He also caught onto my learning style quickly and found ways to work with it. By the time it was our final lesson before my test, I realized that I wasn't scared anymore. And to be honest, I was having so much fun learning with John. That's a sentence I never thought I'd be saying. I was having fun learning how to drive! When we went to the DMV together on test day, John knew exactly how to create a calm and fun atmosphere before the test. And he gave me the best pep talk before hand and guess what? I PASSED the test and this was my 1st time ever taking it!!! I was SHOCKED that I passed and John said he knew I could do it all along. That was a huge moment for me. I not only overcame a fear, but I had fun doing it. Now as a newly license driving, I don't have any anxiety about driving. I know that I learned from the best instructor who taught me everything I needed to know. And that makes me feel safe anytime I get behind the wheel. Thank you so much John and Angel.
