Great communication! Service: upon initial phone call they went over what they provide and locations. The cost of the services was the best around. My son needed 6 hours driving instruction. They set up the days and times which worked perfect for his winter break which was that week. I called on a Friday after Christmas then got a lesson for the following Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. It was at 3pm which was good for my son to deal with afternoon traffic driving. Instructor: very communicative via text and phone call. Sometimes he was early, which worked great for us. First lesson: went over rules of road and allowed son to drive with much guidance. Second lesson: more driving for my son and learning to merge or lane change. We approached Success Driving school to teach our teenage son to get his driving license. We had gotten good reviews about Keith from others, so we requested to hire his services. Keith is a great driving instructor whose experience and guidance made my son's driving successful enough to pass the practical driving exam. He is a very encouraging instructor, and was extremely helpful in calming my son down. We knew that my son was with a good instructor from the time we hired his services. During his lessons, Keith will drive around the neighborhood around the Redwood City DMV with my son, which was quite helpful to my son as he got familiar with the city's traffic conditions, types of signals and roads, railroad crossings and roundabouts, among other facets that made my son more prepared for the exam. Furthermore, Keith let him drive through the route, then stop at the end to reflect on his actions, before drawing on paper to describe my son's mistakes and how my son should go about fixing them. He also gave helpful tips for parallel parking, reversing, changing lanes, and other ways to make him more prepared and less abrupt while following the rules in real-time conditions. Last but not least, Keith tested my son's knowledge of all car controls and some other rules, making sure that he was driving at safe speed limits, doing all necessary checks, etc. After my son took his lessons, he was able to pass the driving exam at the first try without any hiccups. KEN WONG IS THE BEST Ken is a old yet kind driving instructor, and he has earned my utmost respect. He's the type of person who you don't see a lot but you respect. He is incredibly patient; I can't count how many times I'd made a mistake but he never got mad or angry and instead calmly corrected my actions. There was one time when I forgot my phone and he was already 20 minutes away, but he decided to bring the phone all the way back, through traffic, and still gave it back to me with a cheerful yet forgiving attitude. Not only that, he'll always try his best to make you laugh and smile, and with a cheerful personality he always brightens up your day and makes you want to have another driving lesson with him. He was also willing to pick me up from school, do the lesson, and drop me off back home without any objections! Main points about him in regards to teaching: 1) Incredibly patient, correcting you calmly and precisely 2) Always asks if you have any questions before and after the lessons 3) Can take control of the car with ease if anything is to happen! You're in very safe hands. 4) Teaches you very well, engraving the correct way to do something. After your 6 hours you will have learned a large amount. From my experience, if you are reading this review, I would wholeheartedly recomend you pick Ken as a driving instructor. My instructor was Phuong and the experience was not worth the $100ish that I paid. After taking a class with her, I realized I was better off learning by myself. I didn't learn anything useful from the course, and all we did was drive in circles in the same area. Everything she said was directly from the textbook, or can be found and better explained in Youtube videos. She also scoffed at me a couple of times when I didn't do something she wanted, but the thing is, I just really really really could not understand what she was saying. I had a bit of a hard time understanding her accent, and needed her to repeat herself multiple times throughout the course, but even then, I still couldn't really understand. It was extremely disrespectful for her to scoff and shake her head at me when I couldn't follow directions due to not understanding her. I was genuinely trying hard to. Imagine how stressful it already was to be an inexperienced driver, driving with a new instructor, AND to not be able to understand her when she was giving instructions midroad. Ultimately, it was a waste of my money, and I was better off watching Youtube videos and just practicing with an experienced driver. This driving course taught me that you do not need a driving instructor, and if you do choose one, there are plenty of better options. read more

We were looking for driving schools for our teenage son. Called many - either they went to voice mail or it was a month out. Success driving school did pick up with a person on the other end. I don't remember her name but she was very nice and accommodating to our schedule. Booked first lesson a few weeks out. We had Yolanda for our 3 lessons and she was the absolute best. She was very patient with my son and gave him valuable tips for driving and passing the driving test at the DMV. The last lesson was the most helpful where Yolanda took my son to the Fremont DMV area and did a practice driving test just like the real instructors did. She even had the same pass/fail test document where he could study on what and what not to do during his real test. Our son got his license on his first try. After reading the reviews, I decided to call this driving school to book my daughter's driving instructions. I specifically requested for Ken Wong. Ken was always on time and texted me directly the traffic rules and driving recommendations for my daughter. When it was finally time for my daughter to take her driving test at the dmv, I appreciate that I was able to text Ken with questions about driving rules and he was kind enough to respond back with additional driving advices. My daughter passed her driving test with only 2 errors. Thank you, Ken! HIGHLY RECOMMEND RAYMOND--DETAILED, HONEST, RECEPTIVE TO FEEDBACK.PASSED WITH A 97% 1ST TRY. 1) I had two 2-hour lessons with Raymond and he was very detailed and tailored his lesson to fit my needs. The previous instructors I had sat me through tedious driving theory for at least 30 minutes which had nothing to do with the practical part of driving. I passed my theory test with an 87.5% so there is no need for the theory unless it directly applies to the practical test. This got so bad that I had to tell Success Driving school not to teach theory, and Raymond listened and understood this perfectly. 2) He taught me theory only to reinforce the practical elements, like pulling over to the curb, turning right within 200 ft and going on the bike lane, staying within your lane while turning left, etc. in fact, I reviewed his drawings many days up to the test which helped me pass with a 97%. Everything that we practiced in a 4 hour session helped me ace the test, and the errors I got were well deserved with going 3 mph above the speed limit while changing lane, something Raymond talked about, and not looking at my blind spot at 1 intersection. 3) Raymond even went over our lesson time from 5:15-7:40pm and I can tell he cares deeply about each of his students. It wasn't about trying to get his "job" over with and be calculators about how he spent his time, he truly loves and cares that each of us passed and always stayed over time to make sure I knew the concepts and understood what he was teaching, especially two days before my driving test. I am so lucky and grateful to have Raymond as my driving teacher and book him for another lesson as it solidified my confidence in driving. 4) Overall, Raymond is an excellent driving teacher with a warm, funny, honest, and open personality and a flexible teaching style tailored to your needs. This is a late review as I took the lessons back in May. I took several lessons with Danny. He was very patient, friendly, and in no way intimidating, contrary to the rumors about driving instructors out there. I remember a time when I was driving on the freeway with a lot of traffic. I was learning how to change lanes. There were a couple of times that I got so focused with the blind spot that I didn't realize that I was almost going to rear-end the person in front. Danny "saved" me every time and simply told me to be careful - casually and calmly. It seemed like he was used to all those close calls. I understand that being a driving instructor is a stressful job since the possibility of getting into accidents is higher due to having a new driver behind the wheel. However, Danny didn't even show it - he was professional at all times. If there was ever a change in schedule (such as running late or making changes to the lesson time), Danny would call ahead of time to inform me about the changes. I would recommend Danny as an instructor. However, some considerations to keep in mind: Last I heard, he only teaches during the weekends. Also, his schedule can be pretty tight as he has a lot of students. (Understandable - that's what happens to great instructors!) Overall, all my experiences with Success Driving School were satisfactory. I would recommend this driving school to new drivers in the area - especially Danny. read more

This is a public service announcement....my 15 year old daughter is learning to drive. For your safety and the safety of others, please remain in your homes for the duration of her lessons. Haha!!! I really wanted to like this driving school. Both the lady I made the appointment with and the instructor were so nice. What I didn't like it that the instructor spent the first 45 minutes of my daughter's 2 hour lesson in my driveway going over questions from the permit test my daughter already passed. I was paying for driving lessons not sitting in the driveway and going over rules of the road. My daughter also said she struggled with understanding the instructor. I think it was a language thing. We are an Asian family, but we don't speak Mandarin or Cantonese. Success Driving School may be a good match if you or your child speak those languages. I decided on Success Driving School because of the great yelp reviews, but I should have gone with my friends' recommendation instead. My daughter said it was cool to drive a Prius. read more

I used Success several years ago, but this time through they were terrible. They were late for each appointment (and, did not make up the time on the back end). They made my daughter feel very uncomfortable, were rude to her and even laughed at her during the driving lesson. Took my first lesson at Success Driving School with Ken and did not learn anything useful. The drivers side seat belt was in poor condition and the car was messy. He wasted about 30-40 mins out of my 2 hour lesson just sitting in the car explaining driving techniques that didn't actually help improve my driving skills. In my personal opinion, it felt like he was trying to squeeze more lessons out of his students rather than having their best interest. He also made a pit stop at HIS own house DURING my lesson. I took around 15 lessons with Ken Wong, during which time I went from having zero driving techniques to driving confidently in heavy traffic and on highways. And I passed my driving test with flying scores. Ken was very strict on me, but always mild and patient. He taught me not only how to follow the traffic rules, but also how to read the ever-changing traffic scenarios; not only how to drive with fewest mistakes possible, but also knowing what mistakes other drivers may make and how to prevent myself from getting caught in incidents in the first place. He even gave me a lot of useful tips on how to pick a right car after I passed the driving test. I felt very lucky for being able to learn from a true professional. I would recommend Natalie for slow learners and Phong for quick learners. Both teachers are knowledgeable, dedicated , punctual, hardworking, honest, polite and professional. Natalie thoroughly explained and gave me a copy of 'Evaluation Score Sheet'. She drew on a sheet of paper some important driving rules & handed it to me. She is very creative and thorough. You won't have any problem understanding their accents. They charge $85 per 2 hour that can be paid after every class. The school sends reminder on cell phone a day before the class and the receptionist is very cooperative. Once i cancelled a class after confirmation and they did not charge me. This summer my daughter registered for driving lessons with Success Driving school. Her instructor assigned was Jeff. She took 6 lessons, each of duration of about 90 minutes. Jeff was prompt on time and was easy going and he was extremely patient and made her drive on highways as well and my daughter felt very much at ease while driving and as he was instructing her. She felt no pressure at all while driving and in effect she was totally comfortable. Since the driving test was to be in San Jose, the instructor made her drive around that area so that she would be comfortable on the day of the test. I could see that Jeff had taught her well when I took her driving in my neighborhood the week before the driving test. She got her driver's license on her first attempt in September.... Took 3 classes with Raymond. He was on time every day, and taught me well. I passed the DMV test in Santa Clara on my first attempt :) In addition to this, this driving school is perhaps the cheapest when it comes to price. 85$ for 2 hrs of classes. 105$ for the driving test with an instructor (your can't drive alone until you're given a license). Raymond even helped me with some of the formalities there. Ultimately, I only made 3 minor mistakes (you can make up to 15) and got my license. 5 stars. read more
