She reported the staff really didn't interact much with the kids; they did just a little gymnastics every day. Towards the end of the first week, when I picked her up she was hobbling after having hurt her ankle. She was given NO type of aid, not even ice and not even told to elevate. The staff just dismissed it when she said she hurt herself. Poor kid was in pain all afternoon. I should have been called, but was not. When I told the front desk person the next day, she could care less and did not even make any apologies. Unbelievable for a fitness place to not care about injuries. If I had not already signed up and paid for another week, I would not have taken her back. But we had so back she went a couple weeks later. This time, she got an eye infection, probably from their dirty equipment. One morning she woke up with her eye puffed up so big she couldn't open it. Went to her doc and it was a bacterial infection. Took a few days for her eye to return to normal. Again I told the front desk staff and again they could care less. I own a children's business myself and would have done things so much differently. Never going back for camp. There are other gyms we can use.

This review is solely based on the summer camp…read more My son loved it. After coming from primrose he instantly said the grown ups there were much nicer. That made me feel better and realize how terrible the other place was. I like how it is "drop off and go" at certain time frames. He has even started to learn how to swim. Being scared of the water I was so shocked when he told me he learned how to cup his hands and is learning to swim on his back and that he even jumped in the water! I was proud. This place allows kids to be kids instead of sitting in front of a tv and playing games. It is a bit pricey to pay per week but it's the average cost of really any summer camp/day care. The only cons are that they are outside a lot and i purchased spray sunscreen but he told em they never put it in anyone. So he only has the sunscreen I put on him that morning. Would be nice for them to re-apply it for the kids who have spray sunscreen every few hours being outside a lot. Another con is that there is no large fridge or cooler for the kids lunches. He had an issue where his food got hot, the ice packs were no longer ice and caused condensation and causing his sand which to get "soggy." (He has an insulated lunch box too.)So I put more ice packs and it seems to help a little more but his lunch box has gotten so much heavier. Overall, I enjoyed having my son go here and he is already looking forward to next summer. There are some things that can be worked on but the workers were all kind and helpful.

Of course he was nowhere to be seen, but one of the managers heard me, and liked it so much that she changed the name to "Coppinger Family YMCA." Not one of my favourite YMCA locations by any stretch of the imagination. They were friendly enough at the desk although some of the employees were less friendly. It seems like a bit of a free-for-all with kids running all over the place. The workout space is pretty cramped and it does get pretty busy. A lot of Houston area YMCAs are very busy but this one feels like it doesn't have the space to handle it. They don't have nearly as much equipment for lifting as the downtown location either, but I would be okay with that if it wasn't so claustrophobic and busy, at any time of day I've been here. Employees are friendly, so I'll bump it up to a 4 star.

They hired people (mainly males) that made me and multiple other children feel uncomfortable, so I do believe they do not look into who their staff may really be. I was also groomed I'd prefer to not get into details but there was a much much older child who I now realized actually groomed me and my friends and was extremely inappropriate with us. Not to mention later on he was not even allowed in the restroom unsupervised because he had apparently asked multiple extremely young boys if he could suck them off.Now that me and my friends from there look back we realize that we were put in a unsafe environment. Not to mention the owners aren't exactly the best. In summary it was a good place but no longer is. I would not recommend sending your child and putting them through the same hell we went through. When I look back on the memories truth be told I am frustrated that the establishment was let go and that they allow things like what I've stated to happen. I hated that place and will never go back. P.S. You may notice there are many 5 star reviews well one thing to take notice of is that all of the good reviews are from a long time ago because as I states before this place is much different now than it was then.
