Contacted this company for assistance thru their website and received an auto reply "Someone will be in touch you soon!" After hearing Nothing after 3 days I called to be greeted with the wrong name and then excuses as to why they truly did not call. We called for a quote and someone was out the next business day. Steve Graham was our sales guy. He was very knowledgeable about our old current system. He gave us all the option from most expensive, moderate and basic. I felt absolutely no pressure. He was also very patient with our 2 year old who kept interrupting our meeting. Within 10 day our new furnace and A/C was installed. Techs who came to install were friendly. They explained about going in and out of the home. They also made sure to close the gate to our fence each time they walked out so our puppy wouldn't escape! read more

Where to start? * FIRST OF ALL, I want to point out the only good review of them on Yelp is by A CURRENT EMPLOYEE! He even states it at the end of his review. That's right they have a CURRENT EMPLOYEE PUTTING UP GOOD REVIEWS FOR THEM. That should give you and idea of who they are! I hired Bay Area Services Heating & Cooling to put in new HVAC including Ductwork. 1. They DIDN'T DO IT TO CODE so It DIDN"T PASS INSPECTION and so they TRIED TO GET ME TO PAY MORE TO GET IT TO PASS INSPECTION. When I told Jack B about it he tried saying I instructed to do it that way. First of all, I don't do HVAC which is why I hired them in the first place. It's not my job to know or make sure it's to code it's theirs! Plus, the first item that didn't pass, they decided. I will update this in the near future and add emails, details and pictures but that's a pretty big one! The best part of his response is his claim that I instructed him to go against code?!# What? Really, so a) he means to tell me if I tell him to do something against code he will? Had I known that I would've chosen something better than locating the AC in the wrong spot...seriously. b) If he knew what he was doing or what the workers were doing he would know it wasn't going to pass and wouldn't have told them not to put it there. This guys responses are so ridiculous. Instead HE TRIED TO MAKE MONEY ON THEIR MISTAKE! 2. Absolutely every step of the process was a nightmare. They cut 2 holes in my hardware floors in the upstairs bedroom where you can see down through to the living room and left them their without anything. Not even a vent cover. When I asked about them Jack B tried saying it was because of layout due to a chimney. Not true! I asked them if they could get started on things that needed to be done regardless of whether the chimney had work on it or not and he said they could. They just screwed up and left it there. 3. When I did the walk through with one of their guys, I pointed out that a few things before we even get to the city inspection: First of all, There was a huge 2 inch gap around a pipe in the basement wall where they ran a line to the AC unit. So, kind of defeats the purpose of HVAC if the outside air is flowing freely into the house, not to mention all the bugs and whatever else. I pointed that out and was told it would be taken care of. Even after pointing it out, they put a little puddy in the hole but when I checked it again it still had a gap. Second, there were gaps in the ductwork. This is brand new ductwork, it shouldn't have gaps in it! I will say at least that guy then went through and taped a few gaps up but they shouldn't be there to begin with. 4. This was new ductwork so they tore some things out and JUST LEFT ALL THE DEMO, WOOD, PLASTER, GARBAGE ETC in a big, big pile. When I asked about it Jack B said they weren't going to clean it up. Every thing they did was to ensure they did the least work. Jack B is so unethical it creeps me out. The work done, the process and the response to all the issues is just a nightmare. Sold us a York furnace and a/c. Nothing but trouble. They even started the furnace on fire in our house. We did get a new replacement furnace and nothing but trouble again. Four gas valve replacements in a short time. They no longer sell York because they were so much trouble as their employee told us. This last month the valve went out again and they charged us $501.00 as they said the warranty was expired. LIE !!! There is still 3yrs left on this furnace. They gave us a partial refund for the part and shorted us $84.00 and tax money. They charged us $99.00 for diagnostics. Watch what they write on your receipt and repair papers. We have dealt with Bay Area for over 30 yrs and always recommended them but never again , I will tell anybody that will listen to what crooks they are. They sold us this furnace already knowing they were having problems with York. read more

Our heat went out on a Thursday night, Current furnace was 31 years old so I called Bay Area Services for an estimate. They were at my house within an hour. Their pricing was fair and I wanted a Trane System. Discussed with Jack, very honest and friendly guy, that I really needed heat for the weekend and couldn't wait until Monday. Jack arranged for Saturday installation. Matt and Joel were here at 8 am; we had a new furnace by lunch. Installers were very knowledgeable and professional. Our house is now nice and warm. Unprofessional. I made an appointment two weeks ago for an air conditioner tuneup. I get a call the morning of the appointment at 8:30 am (appointment was for 8/9 am) telling me they can't come until the next day because they need to service people without air. I told them I don't have air either because I want it serviced before turning it on. She said they would come then that day. When I asked if it would be by 9 am (my appointment time) she advised my my appointment was for 5-6 pm. I asked when did my appointment get changed and why wasn't I called, there was no explanation. So a few hours later they call back and speak with my son informing him they won't be able to come until the next day between 4-5 pm. I called them back and spoke with Brad who informed me they were first serving customers who have a service contract with them. I told him this is a very unprofessional way of handling business. He hung up on me. What is the use of having an appointment? Bay Area has serviced the air conditioner/furnace for the previous owners so I thought I would give Bay Area Service a try. Just had Joey from Bay Area Services install a new furnace and thermostat for my Mom last Friday. He was great to have do the job. Her old furnace did not have much longer to go. The new Trane furnace that he installed works so much quieter than the old Lennox one and we are looking forward to lower bills now thanks to it's higher efficiency! In interest of full disclosure, I want to say that though I have been a customer of this company for years, I am now an employee as well and my appreciation for Bay Area Services has only grown. read more

So, I have a 2o year old trane air conditioner and a wire burnt out. I called Bay Area because I have had them service my furnace and was satisfied with their prior work (they cleaned and serviced my furnace every fall). When they came out, the service guy was like, we could fix it but its about $500 and because its old we recommend that you replace it. I trust them, so I was like "Sucks but ok". So they told me their sales guy would stop out and walk through my options. When I asked about how much a new one might cost, he was like "I don't really know but Tim will answer all of your questions". Good old Tim...ready to answer all my questions....prepare for the grooming! From the minute their sales guy Tim walked into my home, I could just feel the swarmy dishonesty. He actually had the balls to ask me what the condition of my furnace was because if it needed upgrading, he could work a "great deal" (mind you its August). He literally gave me quotes with extra "electrician charges" because apparently I would have to do some "upgrades to my fusebox" (my house is 20 years old with all appropriate electrical compliances). I was like...you are putting in electrical equipment...and this is an extra charge? He quotes me a Trane for 4K'ish and when I asked for other options that might be cheaper he quoted me a Rheem for about the same price. Not helpful. What is a girl to do? A girl calls another capable girl and talks it through. So talking with that good friend of mine, she immediately told me I should get a second quote and recommended Packerland Heating because she personally knew one of the technicians and said "you will get real answers". I called there first and asked for some quotes for 2.5 ton air conditioners and they happily quoted me 2K for an American Standard (btw...the techician here told me that Trane and American Standard are made by the same company). I feel a bit better instantly knowing that the cost is in half before we even start AND they were willing to quote me their cost right over the phone. So the technician Brian, who just left my house, looked at my air conditioner, showed me the wire, told me that the capicitor that was cited as "weak" was fine, and that my coils could use a blow out but that was it. A wire. Between the service call and the wire, it was $90, and my air is on again and cooling fine. Even if my air conditioner dies tomorrow...I already know that I can replace it. Why would I not spend $90 on something that was working absolutely fine before a wire randomly burnt out? I see another post here, where someone's furnace went out and they also pulled the line of "too old to fix" and replace. When they decided to go another route, they were still charged for the service call. Same thing happened to me. They charged me 115 bucks to "assess" the situation only to predatorially lie to me to upsell what I needed for their benefit. If I wanted to pay to be exploited, I would restart online dating!! So basically, I got charged $115 buck to be exploited (at least with online dating I would have had an adult beverage or 2 that would have eased the disappointment). I don't know if this happened because I am a single female who appears to be easy pickings and exploitable...it sure feels that way. I am pretty angry. It never feels good to be exploited and taken advantage and that is exactly what they did. So, in summary....I would never, never, never recommend this company. They have broken the circle of trust with me! I will recommend and use Packerland Heating. I had told them over the phone what I was quoted, they could have easily upsold me too. The second learning tool here is always get a second opinion if you can. The third learning tool is that if you are a lady, always draw on your lady friends to help steer you in the right direction (good advice for the fellows too). Setup an estimate 3 weeks prior to the appointment and called 15 minutes past the appointment time, and they stated the employee called in sick today and didnt have a number on file to contact me. I used Bay Area for routine furnace service in December 2015. When the tech arrived he was a pleasant guy...no problem. Although he was an hour late. He took the cover off my furnace and found a problem. It was legit as he showed me the plastic piece which was cracked. He then told me I needed a new furnace which I again believe to be true. So he put the furnace back together and called a sales guy from their company...Tim who instantly arrived at my home to sell me a furnace. So...they then charged me $115 for the furnace service even though there was no cleaning service completed. The furnace was still in working order and the tech said to me...no sense in service or cleaning if you plan to replace it. I agreed...but was still charged. I basically threw $115 away. When I questioned why I had to pay I was told...sorry can't give your money back. I get that they found an issue. But my furnace was working fine...they came for a cleaning not a repair or diagnosis. If you call a lawn service to come apply a weed treatment, they arrive to say we can do anything for you your lawn is too far gone...they don't say...you own me for a weed treatment anyway.
