On Saturday afternoon, Jesse arrived at my 1979 Wonder Bread Van within several minutes after a call and details about the tow were arranged. All day Saturday I made attempts to find a car repair shop in Richmond only to get stalled while the shop delayed me before turning me down. My stranded Van was on a commercial street of Richmond presenting eminent threat of being seized by police after 3 nights parked on the street. Jesse understood my difficult problem as the Van unexpectedly cound not start on Friday. Jesse was very nice and professional. Unawared that El Cerrito has a 72 hour parking restriction on non-resident vehicles. I found out the hard way when I returned & discovered that my car was towed! I didn't know and for sure didn't see signs that your city was having road work done on May 5 on 20th street. So Low and Behold I went to get my car this morning with my dog and Dog Gone No Car...!! So me and my dog walked down to get the release form from the RPD and that didn't cost a thing but when I got to the asshole tow place they had me bent so fucking much over and in tears I asked them if they would wave the storage fee of $69.00 and they said they were already giving me a break . $$$250(tow) + $69.00 $$$ I hope the MF that runs or owns that place has nightmares of the people he robbed when he didn't have to...What a Fucking Dick...I hate you!!! Unfortunately my rear tire on my scatpack blew up in the freeway I was able to make it out to a chevron, I knew I had to call a tow truck company but knowing how insurance works it would of probably took me 2 hours if I was lucky to get a tow truck to me, so I quickly decided to do some yelp search and found Bay Area tow. Francisco was very responsive and in just less than 45 min my car was home safe. Also he was a nice guy that knows that being a sport car he cared about not damaging my super lowered car. My daughter's car was towed from our home by CHP after she let a dumb drive her car recklessly (per the CHP documents) and it was placed on a 30 day hold. She went to the tow yard to confirm the price and was told $4,063.00. I got the money from the bank, we met up for the exchange and when she went to get her car it miraculously was $4,463.00. I assume they do that in hopes that the person doesn't have enough money and they can continue to charge fees. Well I pray they (the employees of this place) all die a very slow death for even playing like that. This is the worst people to deal with tried to pay with credit card had my brother drive from San Francisco and because he was not on the title they didn't wanted to take payment and said they only take cash. I called Bay Area Tow and spoke to Jessy and quoted me $50 to tow my car from Steve's auto shop back to my place. Quick and straight forward. I called Roza Roadside Assistance first due to Yelp reviews and spoke to Philip. I told him I need a towing service in El Cerrito. He goes "Oh, I don't cover that area." Although his Yelp profile says he covers areas like Emeryville and Berkeley. And like most people, I consider El Cerrito as Berkeley'ish area. I think it's a blessing in disguise that he turned me down and I called Jessy instead! I had my mini van towed from Albany to Castro Valley because the car had no insurance covered and I don't drive it at all. I called so many towing company and the rate was pretty high. He had to tow my car from a crowded parking lot (Costco on a Sunday afternoon) and I was so impressed with how quickly he was able to do so. The price was very reasonable. This place is shady. My car was towed on a Friday. $185 tow fee, plus $75 per day impound. I got my paperwork done on Friday, but according to every visible and online advertising, they were closed all weekend. When I questioned the all weekend impound charges, they said" if you would have called we would have come out." Really? How many businesses have people just hanging out during closed hours. Don't you think I would have saved myself $225 if I had know you were actually open? Shady business. read more

it Its unfortunate I cannot give them a zero. They misinformed in order to take the car to the yard and I am writing this review as I hope others will learn from my experience. The car broke down after a minor accident, I was the passenger, didn't have my AAA card and so ended up having to call this company to tow. They only had to tow 2 blocks to my home and charged me $255. When I was about to pay the money, the tow truck driver says its better if he doesn't leave the car here, because if he takes the car into the yard, AAA will pay for it and then take it to a body shop. I asked him are you sure AAA will pay for this, and he says "100%". He lied in order to take the car into the yard, because then the next day when I called AAA - found out they don't pay for it but they will tow the car wherever if the tow yard leaves the car outside. And the tow yard said they will charge us the initial $255 + $85 for each day of storage + extra miles to tow from our house to the yard, just in order to move the car outside their yard. When I told him that we were misinformed by their tow truck driver, the person over the phone was rude and yelled " You are wasting my time!" . Also, added that most of his business comes from CHP, and he doesn't care about Yelp reviews. When I persisted, he agreed to charge me $255 + #days of storage. When I was ready to make the payment over phone, he said I needed to come in-person. When I asked, if I can come over and pay since the owner of the car is working and cannot take off, he said only the owner of the car can pay and it has to be in-person. This is all a tactic so they can keep the car as long as possible in the yard and charge extra money. So when we went in person he charged us $380 + $170 for 2 days of storage (total of $580 - not the $255 he agreed over the phone). And again when I asked him about the discrepancy, he yelled and did not respect his agreement. And I had no idea it would be so horrible, because I always used AAA and never had to deal with an unethical tow company like this who takes advantage of people in crisis. read more

They had a Honda odyssey on the back and the idiot was tailgating people and no joke.....He was driving 80-90 miles an hour and cutting people off. This review is for today I called several tow companies to have my boyfriend car towed 15 miles and they gave me 300$ pricing. So I decided to call this company despite the one negative review. The guy who answered the phone was very professional he asked me the reason for the tow and I told him that I only needed to be towed 15 from my house to sf. The guy told me 105 in which was the CHEAPEST EVER!!. The guy said there would be someone arriving 45-1hr. And just like that the guy arrived in a hour. A panic moments for me is when one of the work trucks used for plumbing Serice breaks down the driver is stranded with a 3 ton dually truck. In the past 3 years I have called Bay Area Tow on 5 separate occasions and each time they had delivered beyond my exceptions. The first was a non serious lock out in Berkeley in which they came in less than 20min and driver was backed on the road. The second incident a little more serious then the first when the truck stalled on bay-bridge toll blaze. Their timing once again was beyond what I expected the driver with the truck made back to office within 1 and a 1/4 total. The third incident was the worst when a truck was totaled along with another vehicle on a really bad accident. I made the call with the expectations that they might not be able to come out to San Francisco especially since the accident was on a Steafel and the truck was no longer drivable, but once again Bay Area total responded in a timely manner and the truck was back at the shop in lesson two hours. The fourth incident was when the truck stalled on one of the hills in the city and again the timing was quick. For the fifth and last incident one of the vans power steering gearbox came completely off of the frame. This time it was in the middle of the night and there was no way vehicle could stay till the following morning with all the tools. I tried 6 different companies in Richmond and all either where busy or had answering service that took a message which did not go far after that. I decide to call Bay Area to try my luck on getting a hold of someone after hours. Jesse picked up the phone and van was on the truck after 30min of initial call. I would highly recommend Bay Area Tow and their wonderful staff. If your looking for a Professional service good respond time and reasonable rates this company would be fit. Bay Area Tow is THE BEST! When I initially called the main number for Bay Area Tow, my call was handled very professionally and we set an appointment day and time. The driver arrived a bit earlier than our scheduled appointment time and together with another driver who arrived shortly thereafter, they tackled a tricky towing job for my client (my client was not on-site, but I was) - removing 2 big, old cars and an old truck (none of which have run for 25+ years) out of a residential backyard and through a long, narrow driveway. Veering slightly off course would result in hitting a house on either side. The two men worked the job with a tow truck, a flatbed tow truck and a forklift. The towing guys were clearly very skilled at maneuvering the tricky angles and got all three out without the slightest touch to either house. The guys on-site were very nice! We just had our 1986 Westfalia Vanagon towed to a shop in San Rafael from our house in the East Bay. Had to call a couple places before I found one that would cross the Richmond Bridge. Once I found one, they wanted $300+ and wouldn't give a firm quote. Called Bay Area Tow next. They gave me a quote that was almost 1/2 that. They were here ~30 minutes from the time I called. I would give no stars, but yelp won't let me. This service is absolutely unprofessional! Arrived 3 hours after the call to the tow, then refused to take the car to where it needed to go for unclear and dubious reasons, presumably because they close at "9 PM" -- their business card advertises "Emergency 24 hour/ 7 Day tow." The owner/manager was perfectly find with me (as a young women) being dropped off somewhere in Richmond during a BART strike at 11 PM when I live in San Francisco. OWNER WAS EXTREMELY RUDE ON TOP OF ILLOGICAL AND FLAT OUT REFUSING TO DO THEIR JOB! HE SCREAMED AT ME ON THE PHONE, "WHY ARE YOU WASTING MY TIME." Unfortunately, I didn't call these jokers, the rental company did. I finally got to where I was going after both myself and the car rental company completed chewed them out on the phone.
