It was a pain to get a stiff webbing strap onto my car's towhook vs. just clipping on the cable and hook directly, but he insisted to reduce the chance of scratching the bumper with the cable as it changed angles going up and down the flat-bed. Marc is AWESOME!!! My car just died for no reason. It's sitting in my garage and I needed to get it to my dealership for repairs. I called Marc and he was able to come pick it up within the time he specified. (he even entertained my lil 18 month old toddler!) He took it to the dealership and even called me to let me know the name of the consultant responsible for my car. The best experience getting a tow I've ever had, hands down! Marc was fantastic. He arrived exactly when he said he would, and even went above and beyond. After finding out about my shredded fan belt and seized up pulley, he made a couple calls to mechanics he recommended. Marc's first reaction when he arrived to pick up my car was, "There she is, in all her glory!" to my non-starttable 02 Altima. His kind and personality put me at ease as he hooked up my car to tow to a local auto shop. He must have been taken aback when I asked if I could catch a ride with him to the auto shop because he is used to just picking up the vehicle and taking them to their destination. He also had his dog with him, so he graciously replied "Sure! As long as you like dogs!" He even offered me a ride to BART after he dropped my car off. Let's start off with he's just a nice guy and he has the most amazingly friendly, four-legged co-pilot. My car sat for 40 years down a really long, steep driveway, in a garage that was falling apart. He came through and moved the car, plus schooled me along the way on how to get one of the locked up rotors free and how I should proceed with getting her up and running. In life, there are certain certainties. . .for me, it's that I have bad tow truck driver karma. I always seem to end up with a guy who is either pissed off, rude, mean, cranky, really smelly (!) or just down right creepy. Hi! Generally, I don't usually read, much less write website reviews; however, I was so impressed with Marc's service, that I decided a high-star review was needed! Recently, I accidentally placed my keys in the trunk and completely locked myself out of the car. I called USAA Insurance and the first guy stops by. He opens the driver side door which accidentally shut down the entire system. The car was disabled and he was not able to open up the trunk at all. He left. The second guy shows up to tow my car but his trucks was to wide for my driveway. He left. Gentlemen #3 shows up; this is Marc. When Marc initially called to let me know that he would be at my house in 40 minutes, I had to tell him I was unable to make that time due to work. He switched his own job schedule around to fit mine...I was extremely thankful! The driveway in my apartment is very narrow and I was fearful that the tow truck might hit my building, causing more damage. Marc handled the procedure confidently and professionally. I'd trust Marc with my firstborn. My car died on a nice steep hill on Bernal Heights, and despite my best attempts, I just couldn't get it going. After reading the reviews here on Yelp, I decided to give him a shot. I've had some not-so-hot towing experiences out here in the past so I was hoping Junebug's would be different, and damn was I right. I called Junebugs in the middle of a workday, talked to Marc right away and he came out on a moment's notice to rescue my aging Jetta. I met him at the car and within a few minutes had had it up on his flatbed and we were off, back to my place in Berkeley. I rode in the cab with Marc, which with some tow drivers can be an exercise in boredom, but Marc and I talked about older VW's, skateboarding, a life in general. He's a real cool guy and even offered to come haul the Jetta away if I couldn't get it running again. When we got back to Berkeley, he dropped it off in my driveway, I paid with a credit card, and then he even gave me a ride back to Bart so I could get back to work in downtown SF. Marc saved my A$$ yesterday evening on 580 going East towards San Francisco from the Oakland Lake Merritt area. I was riding around in one of my Can Am Spyders when the engine siezed up since Can Am Spyders have a notorious problem for dumping coolant if the coolant fan malfunctions. The Can Am Spyder did not start up and I was stock on a busy freeway with cars going way over the speed limit not giving a F about me. Junebug was the first one that came up in Google and was the closest to me and it was a relief to see Marc. He was professional, friendly, and also an avid biker and car enthusiast. What I got was, "Sorry we like to keep our tows local" or "Sure I can tow it, but if the wheels start dragging and flatspotting I am not responsible," or "Sure , but do you have your own straps, because we don't want the liability with our straps"....HUH????? There's a first time for everything...and today was my first tow truck experience and it was great, actually! I lost the keys to my Chevy HHR and needed to take into the dealer to get reprogrammed, etc. After calling Ken Betts, who wanted $180, I called Junebugs and spoke with Marc. He quickly got my car out of it's awkward position (sandwiched in between to fat ass cars) and onto his flatbed. My precious Saabaru 9-2x was running hot, and every tow company I called via my roadside service snowball'ed me. Showing up with non flatbeds, crappy dollys, or flat out lying about the time it would take them to get there. Lots of "We'll be there in 45 mins!", followed by showing up 4 hours later. I went through 4 different tow companies who couldn't get their act together(why is this industry so poorly staffed?). I finally found Marc here on Yelp, who said he was over an an hour away at that point. However, he promised a time, and stuck to it, which means a lot to me, especially when I'm in & out of the house all day - I don't have time to deal with false promises. He showed up right on time, with a flatbed(I have a AWD vehicle), and managed to pull my car out from between two cars, like threading a needle, and had it all straight & level on the truck. He knew the shop I needed it towed to, and it turns out they're actually old acquaintances, and had worked on a car project together way back when. To top all that off, apparently he's from the same town I just moved from, small world! He was able to assess my car's problem and knew right away the different ways to fix it. He asked the dealership how they fix the problem (which, of course, was the most expensive option that takes several days-to-a week), so I decided that I wasn't going to leave my car there.
