In a time when customer service is taken over by bots, it is so refreshing to receive top-notch, in-person service. Treat has gone above and beyond in addressing my needs and concerns. He even took the time to call my optometrist in SF due to unclear prescription details. And when he says he'll call you back, he'll call you back. They accept VSP and have a great line of frames to accommodate the Asian nose Bridge :) You can park at the back of the building for free (secure lot) and get a sammy at Ike's next door after your visit. There's free parking right behind the location. I arrived for my appointment and was kindly greeted. Within a minute, I was called in to begin my yearly eye exam + contact lens exam. They have very modern eye testing equipment that does a thorough job before you meet with Dr. Liu. Dr. Liu is so personal, upbeat, and friendly. I feel at ease and confident that my eyes are in great hands with him. I wish all my medical/health appointments were this wonderful! I haven't been to the optometrist in over 10 years, and Bay Bridge Optometry made my appointment so seamless and easy. I went in for a routine eye check and everything was extremely professional and they have a very clean office. The staff at the front were so friendly. Dr James Liu was amazing and very knowledgable, he made me feel very comfortable the entire time. They used all the latest technology to examine my eyes and I felt very well taken care of. I went on my way and was very happy with this appointment. But 2 months later I had something lodged in my eye and I couldn't get it out. Dr James Liu fit me in for a same day appointment, and was able to remove it from my eye instantly and prescribe antibiotics drops. I had a challenging situation: two years before, I'd gone in on some beautiful glasses (about $1000, all-in) from a legendary LA optometrist but then, one day while cleaning them, they snapped. And without going deep into backstory, let's just say I didn't quite feel supported by that optometrist--bad follow-through, expensive options that would take weeks and weeks to execute--which led me to contact the studio that created the frames, which led to discovering Bay Bridge Optometry. Treat answered the phone and I told him my situation. Within a five minute phone call, Treat looked into his remote system, saw that the frames were available in France, and ordered them. I had originally wanted to find a pair in stock somewhere to get them more quickly, but he told me that they'd probably only take a week to arrive, and that if I didn't want them, that he'd keep them in his inventory. Zero pressure, zero risk, zero attitude. The glasses arrived in the States on a Friday, less than a week from our first conversation, and Treat got them heading my way first thing Monday morning. They landed on Wednesday, and within an hour of having them in my possession, I had a local optometrist pop my lenses in. No charge. Overall, Bay Bridge Optometry and Treat have my absolute highest recommendation. I was very impressed with Xavier. My wife has balance issues and has broken two glasses frames in the last couple years falling. She tried to buy some frames on eBay but they were too small for the lenses Xavier was able to cannibalize the arms of the recently purchased frames and put them on the frames with the lenses. He did it while I waited for a short time in the office and there was no charge. Xavier also picked out a pair of frames for me to replace the old platinum frames I've been wearing for the last 25 years. I've gotten nothing but compliments on them. Warning - only go here if your time means absolutely nothing to you!! My husband has now made 5 trips to this place and he still doesn't have the lenses we purchased for his existing Tom Ford frames over 6 weeks ago! I should have known we were in for trouble when I overheard another customer picking up his glasses asking, "Should my lenses be blurry?!?" This conversation happened during our first visit to the store. After paying for his lenses he was asked to return numerous times for different measurements. The lenses finally arrived over a month later after we purchased them. However, they had to be re-done because the measurement for his progressive lenses was incorrect!! When I complained about the lengthy delay and asked the doctor for a discount for the inconvenience, he responded with a lengthy email about how they were uber customer-focused, how the mask my husband wore may have affected the measurements, and numerous other excuses for the delay. He also suggested that we go somewhere else in the future for our glasses! Okay, that's fine and dandy and I realize that things are tough these days, but if they can't measure people correctly while masked then why offer glasses for sale?!? I think most customers would agree that asking people to return 6x and wait 6+ weeks for their lenses is ridiculous, unreasonable and totally unacceptable even during covid times!! Also, when we initially ordered his lenses Lilly measured my husband while standing in front of him. I thought that was quite odd since I've always seen opticians measure while seated directly in front of someone. Don't say you haven't been warned... Avoid unless you're okay wasting your time and have nothing better to do than making trip after trip for a single pair of lenses!! read more

It's funny, I didn't even meet the doctor, but the staff is fantastic!! I was putting on my contacts this morning, when one of them ripped in my eye. So I had part of a contact lens in my eye, that was difficult to find. I dropped by the office, because it was close to where I worked and told them my situation. The doctor was all booked for the day, but the wonderful ladies at the front desk were incredibly knowledgeable and really wanted to help me. They gave me some eye solution and a contact lens hand guide. I got back, and was able to successfully removed the contact piece from my eye. Definitely got a new customer in me! read more

Dr. Liu and their team are the best. Their office is beautiful, clean, and spatious. During COVID, they take all precautions to ensure the safety of their patients and their staff. They are quick to respond to emails and requests. They are on time with their appointments and wait no longer than a couple of minutes to be seated in the back. Dr. Liu explains everything quite well and answers any of your questions. He truly cares and wants to ensure that the patient is comfortable. What an OUTSTANDING optometry! Came in for a long overdue check-up and was immediately drawn in by the warm welcome of the receptionist, awesome selection of frames, and cool decor. LOVE that it's dog-friendly, too, so go ahead and bring in Fido. Dr. Liu was incredibly kind, super knowledgeable, and I could tell right away that he genuinely cares about the well-being of his patients. He took the time to explain any issues I was having with my eyes and handled each step of the exam conscientiously. Dr. Liu also informed me of the various brands of frames they carry and the pros & cons of my options. They carry some hip brands like Tom Ford, Ray Ban, Woow, and Kate Spade, along with socially conscious and eco-friendly brands like 141 and Proof. I left with a more accurate prescription than I got previously at Target Optometry, a pair of fun Woow glasses and a pair of polarized, prescriptive Proofs made from recycled wood (that would later be sent to my home when they're ready). Dr. Liu is a really cool optometrist. He's very informative. He fielded all my questions and explained eye-related things to me succinctly. I felt educated after my first appointment. He's also resourceful. He knows and recommends a LASIK eye surgeon if interested. My overall eye exam experience was pleasant. Every step of the way, Dr. Liu provided clear instructions and guidance. It was pain free and comfortable. No complaints here. The eye equipment/ tools look modern and well taken cared of. The rooms are bright and friendly - not old and compact. The office is really bright and warm. It's very clean. I really like the bathroom as it's big, clean, and the lighting is nice. There's succulents in there which makes it feel welcoming. I especially love how Dr. Liu's office is very close to my work. Makes appointment coordination much easier and I can go during my lunch or before work. read more

I was having some issues that were really concerning me and causing a lot of stress. I called this morning to see if I could possibly be seen sooner than a few weeks out, because their online calendar was booked up. They were able to accommodate me later the same day which I really appreciated. I arrived a little early, barely sat down for a minute before they were ready. Everyone was really nice and I was in and out with a new prescription in less than an hour which included me being indecisive with my frame choice. The facilities were very clean and modern. I chose this place because of ALL the AMAZING REVIEWS and the CONVENIENCE of it being right next to my work... day of my appointment I arriver 12mins early. I walked around and was trying on frames.. the technician who was working in the front had a customer, however, he did not even acknowledge me, nor say hello. Literally I walked around and tried on glasses for ~10 minutes with no single word to me. 2 minutes before my appointment he asks me if I am here for an appointment. I said yes, and he said someone will be with me shortly. Other technician takes me back for the pre-test. That part goes smoothly. Next the part with the doctor goes smoothly. When I go to check out, the same guy in the front starts to breakdown prices for me.. and pretty much tells me that I have to either buy glasses or contacts with them. If I don't then I would be charged full price for my contact lens fitting. Which on my insurance clearly states my copays for the services!!! Red flag here. Taking my business someplace else. Overall my first and last experience with this place, which sucks because it's literally a 3 minute walk from my work. Recap: 1. Didn't greet or acknowledge me for 10 minutes of walking back and forth then finally sitting down (right in front of him) 2. Very very poor knowledge of how insurance claims work. 3. Tried to charge me full price for a contact lens fitting, when on the sheet in front of him clearly states I am covered for both a comprehensive eye exam + contact lens. ** the receptionist did call me later that day, to apologize and said that I was correct, about my insurance... ** also I went on a Friday afternoon, maybe they were just over the workday...? read more

I recently moved to the Bay Area and made an appointment here based on the rave reviews for Dr. Liu. Three hours before my appointment, I received a text saying that my appointment would be with Dr. Caleb Poon. There's no mention of any doctor other than Dr. Liu anywhere on their website and I didn't see Dr. Poon's credentials or license anywhere in their office (is that even legal?). When I mentioned it to the receptionist, all she said was that he was new. I went with it anyway as I really needed an exam to get a new contact prescription and the office is close by. Bad idea. Dr. Poon was extremely awkward with zero "bedside" manner. He mumbled under his breath for the entirety of the appointment. At various points I thought he was mumbling to me, so I asked him to repeat himself. Turns out he was mumbling to himself. When I thought he was mumbling to himself, but he was actually mumbling to me, he would raise his voice to a near shout and repeat himself as if I was ignoring him. He left the room on several occasions without so much as a word or an "I'll be back". He poked at my face aggressively to make my eyeballs protrude and move in the desired direction. I understand touching of the area around my eyes is to be expected, but I didn't have my contacts in (-5 in both eyes, so practically blind without them) and he didn't warn me before he started to manhandle my face. Overall, an extremely disappointing (and uncomfortable) experience. I understand he may be new, either just to the office or also to the profession, but the other doctor really should've trained him or shadowed him until he was ready to work on his own. Which he definitely isn't. A warning about the change in doctors prior to the day of the visit, and the option to stay with the doctor I made an appointment with, would've been nice as well. Before visiting Bay Bridge Optometry, I'd been going to the same Optometrist for over a decade. I really liked my eye doctor. The only problem was that it was about an hour and a half drive away back in my childhood hometown (Yes, I'm one of those weird people who will go out of their way to visit a dentist or optometrist they really like for years). It was time for me to finally move on and get an optometrist in the bay area. I was nervous about finding a new doctor. The one time I had previously seen another doctor, they gave me a new prescription that was too strong that my regular eye doctor eventually scaled back. I spent plenty of time reading reviews for a few optometrists and ended up choosing BBO. The location was convenient and was only a few minute drive from where I live. The reviews were great. Plus, they seemed to have a decent selection of glasses and a nice modern office from the yelp pictures. Ultimately, I'm happy I chose BBO. The doctor was great and spent ample time talking with me about my occasional headaches and other questions I had about my eyes and prescription. They helped me order a new pair of glasses and helped fix and clean a pair of prescription sunglasses that I love and have worn for years. I'll definitely be going back! read more

I was due for an eye exam and came across Bay Bridge Optometry via Yelp. Honestly, the close proximity to my work was the key factor but the fact that they had such good reviews didn't hurt. :) My appt lasted about an hour and it was the most thorough eye exam I've ever had. They even gave me an option to do hi-res photos on my eyes instead of getting them dilated, which I opted for. Their frame selections are limited but they have good options ranging in prices. Oh everyone was super friendly and helpful and the doctor also very knowledgeable. Overall, really happy with the exam, cost and frame options! Only bad thing, my eyesight got even worse since my last exam. :-/ read more

Interim review: Exam done and eyeglasses ordered 8 days ago. Order just sent to lab yesterday. No explanation for delay, no apology (and the place isn't cheap). Hope the eventual results are better than this lapse suggests! Final review: Eyeglasses ready 20 days after ordering. Business phoned to apologize for delay (and notify me I'd been overcharged $100), but only after I posted the above interim review to Yelp. Never received an explanation for the slow service, even upon collecting product in person from store. On the plus side: Good product, on-the-mark prescription (done by optometrist onsite), and very helpful assistance from two office staff when selecting frames. So, good outcome (ultimately), but can't say I'd feel comfortable doing repeat business with them. With regret, overall rating therefore remains 3 stars. read more
