On a recent trip over to MI and the Upper Peninsula, I developed an issue with the rear tire on my 1999 Honda Valkyrie and couldn't continue much further on it. After making a few calls to shops in the area, Bill @ Steven's Cycle was able to find a suitable tire in their stock. He then coordinated with their sister shop, Stevens' Sport Center, and arranged to have that tire delivered to the Midland location. Travis @ the Midland location had a technician available when I rolled in to get it installed. Their service technician, Joe Doucet, had me back on the road in short order. In all, we only lost about 2 hours of travel time. I couldn't thank these guys enough for their efforts on my behalf. Their collective actions allowed us to continue our 2,250 mi. journey with little interruption. Just wanted to spread the good word!

The mechanics pointed out that the brakes were also on the brink of failure. They did a top notch job (with beautiful welds!) on the exhaust and brakes all around in what has to be record time...and we were a walk-in! We have a 1979 super glide in mint condition now that we had it repainted we would not trade it for a new bike. He laced the real wheel and mounted it on the bike. The starter motor was bad. Was riding the bike one day and it made a popping noise which fried the charging system. He repaired that also. He's great at his job and really knows what he is doing. Unlike some shops that say they can work on an old bike and then screw it up. If you need your bike worked on I suggest not waiting until the spring or summer, as he's super busy. His prices are reasonable too. We lived in Florida for 23 years and there were several shops that could work on old bikes in the Tampa Bay Area, but not so here two hours north of Detroit and the burbs.

I had rear brakes, rotors and a caliper replaced all for a decent price. He also was able to complete it the same day. That was the most exciting part for me. A couple of days before my appointment, I called and asked if they could add-on an electrical problem with a headlight and change the headlight and they said yes. I brought my car in a 1/2 hour early. They kept it for over 6 hours before Dennis telephoned me to say they didn't get to work on it because of working on cars from yesterday... really? He apologized and said they could start on it first thing Monday morning. I picked up my car and tires and told Dennis I was very disappointed in being treated this way and I asked if all their customers were treated this way - especially since I made the appointment 7 days prior. Dennis said well, they did have "other" cars to work on... how smug of him. Were the "other" cars on the schedule prior to mine... how ridiculous. This was so disrespectful to me that now, I will not disrespect myself by returning to Hampton Auto Repair to give them my business. It was just a few months ago that I spent over $1,000 there and was a regular customer, but no more. By the way, if I performed My job in this manner there would be consequences.
