Man, I really want to give 4 stars here, but I just can't quite give it the 4th, unfortunately. I had just finished a grueling four days* of working in Puget Sound, which involved a lot of being out and about without knowing where I'd be or what I'd be doing the next hour, so you can imagine how exhausted I was when I came in to order a nice takeout meal for dinner. For whatever reason, I was craving Mediterranean food, and when I was searching for Mediterranean food in the Bothell area, where I was going to be spending the next couple of days afterwards, this restaurant showed up third on the list! As I was looking through the menu, I noticed their main cuisine is Indian cuisine, yet they also served Mediterranean food, which I thought was intriguing, yet a little dubious as I believe that a restaurant serving a multitude of cuisines could subject themselves to being spread too thin in their kitchen. I had looked at their menu beforehand and had decided to get the Gyro Platter, Butter Masala with Chicken, and the Goat Biryani, hoping the Goat would also mean "Greatest of All Time." I also got some butter and garlic naan to go with the meal. When I came in, Azmat was there to serve me. He had such a pleasant and calming demeanor that I wish the quality of the food would have matched that of his level of service. After reciting my order to him, he mentioned it would take 15 to 20 minutes for my order to be ready. I was sitting in a seat by the front door while several other customers came in to pick up their online orders. I thought about ordering online, but realized it would have cost a few dollars extra to do so, hence why I decided to go there in person to order. After 10 minutes, a server noticed me sitting there and offered to assist. I knew it was early, so there wasn't much she could do at this point. 15 minutes later, an employee came from the back to hand me my takeout order while apologizing for the long wait. Well, not too bad of an extended wait though. But what was too bad was the two Indian dishes that I ordered. Neither the Goat Biryani nor the Butter Masala really left any impression whatsoever. They definitely didn't taste bad, but I felt the flavors in both were quite muted. I did like the Gyro Platter better, though, but I wouldn't say it was as good as other Mediterranean spots I've been to in SoCal. The Naan breads didn't leave any impression either; I would have guessed it was just plain Naan bread. For a fraction of the cost, I'm sure you could go to one of Safeway, Fred Meyer, or even QFC for a pack of plain Naan bread that would taste almost as good. Bay Leaf Bar & Grill is located at the base of the Junction Apartments next to McMenamins Anderson School. There's plenty of parking closer to the school, but parking adjacent to Bay Leaf is quite scarce. There's a wide bike path that almost looks like a sidewalk, but is wide enough for cars to drive through. There are a few on-street parking spots directly in front, but right before these spots, there's an alleyway that has a few parking spots albeit 15 minutes only. Some of the spots are reserved for McMenamins, but I do remember the first one not having any mention of McMenamins. I wouldn't mind coming back if I wanted a taste of both Mediterranean and Indian in the same meal, especially since the interior looked so fancy and well-maintained! However, if I wanted just one or the other, I'd look elsewhere next time I'm visiting the area. Overall, 7 stars out of 10, but rounded down. * My visit was back in November of 2025; I had gone on a hiatus from posting reviews, hence the rather last post.

The food here is okay but the muted flavors are disappointing. Started with the Gobi Manchurian appetizer which is one of my favorites, and I liked that the cauliflower was lightly battered, but the sauce needed more spices and everything was buried under onions and bell peppers. Tandoori chicken and lamb curry also were cooked well, but again lacked any flavor. We asked for moderate spiciness on the lamb curry but it was more like brown mushroom gravy with no kick. Garlic naan was similarly baked well but wish we could actually taste garlic. Service was very friendly and the interior is clean and welcoming, though maybe it was a sign how empty it was at dinner time.

Got takeout from this spot and had a good experience! I did takeout from the Yelp app and liked that it showed me updates about my order directly in the app. The food was ready in about 20 min, which is great timing in my book. I was greeted at the front by one of the staff and they got my order to me right away. I did have to remind them about my mango Lassi, but by the time I reminded them there was already another waiter walking it over to me. I got the paneer tikka masala and it was lovely. Very much a comfort food. The mild was a little mild in flavor, so I might get a mild/med next time to add a bit more oomph to the dish. Generous serving of rice and the mango lassi was lovely! I will definitely come back for takeout and hope they make an appearance on some popular delivery apps soon.

Ordered the BBQ meat platter and beef Nihari. The BBQ was great but the nihari didn't have enough flavor or any ginger in it. Service was okay too.

Bay leaf is one of my favorite restaurants in Bothell. Family owned and run, the food is outstanding! My favorite appetizers are the chicken pakora and dolmathes. The chicken is crunchy and comes with a unique, tasty sauce. The dolmathes are classic grape leaves with good herbs. Main dishes that I love are the butter masala and the Chile chicken. You can't go wrong with anything you get here though. The Biryani is spicy. Full bar for those who fancy a drink with dinner. Classic decor, rarely too busy. Wonderful service.

Went in around 6ish on a Friday evening. The staff were very friendly and courteous. They did keep checking on us (probably she must be the manager or the owner is my wild guess). Ambience was also good. These are the items which we ordered - Paneer Tikka Appetizer - good Chilli Paneer - very good Gyro Platter - very good (loved the meat texture and softness) KARAHI (GOAT) - very good Garlic Naan - good Chai - good, felt great after getting wet in the rain Kulfi - good They do serve alcohol as well. I would definitely recommend this place and would visit once again later. Parking is a pain if you are totally new to this location. It would either be street parking or the parking in the garage behind (all spaces were marked resident parking, so I am not sure which one is reserved for the restaurant). You can probably park in the town hall parking across the restaurant.

Fun place to stop by! There is lots of seating options and a private party room. I got the pomegranate gin and tonic and it was tasty. It wasn't too sweet and just the right balance.

We've been here twice for dinner now and both times we were left wondering why this restaurant wasn't packed. It's a family-owned Indian restaurant with delicious food and genuinely kind service! The garlic naan is some of the best we've had--soft, buttery, and packed with flavor. And the coconut chicken curry is absolutely incredible. Rich, creamy, perfectly spiced, and savory chicken --comfort food at its finest. It's been pretty empty during both our visits, which is such a shame because this spot truly deserves more love. If you're in the area, skip the chains and support this local gem. You won't regret it!

I dine at this restaurant occasionally. It never disappoints. Great family run place. Super friendly people. The menu has a lot of great choices. Appetizers are delicious. I will definitely keep coming back for the amazing Indian food. They knock it out of the park every time.

We have gotten takeout from here a couple of times and finally had dinner here recently. They have a lot of seating space inside, and the service is friendly and quick. We got Tandoori Chicken, Goat Curry, and Tandoori Roti. We loved the Goat Curry, Tandoori Roti and Tandoori Chicken were good. For dessert we got Kulfi and Rasmalai. Both our desserts were very good, the Kulfi portion was double of what were expecting.

Nice clean place, server was nice. Didn't know it was an Indian Cuisine till we saw the menu and heard the music, place had a modern decor. Full bar and decent size menu. Food was delicious, fresh and every bite tasted better than the other. Food did take a bit of time but was definitely worth the wait. Highly recommended if you are hungry and ready to overload with carbs.

However, yesterday on 6/28 when the wait was too long so I decided to choose takeout, it was the worst service I've ever experienced. I walked inside, placed the takeout order, and was told it would be ready in about 15 minutes. I went outside to the bench to wait to realize the server didn't take my name for the order. After about 20 minutes had passed, I walked back inside to look for someone. I saw another server walk over when I was lost and waiting and she ended up helping another group who walked in after me, so I was ignored. Then I initiated the conversation and asked about my order and she said "Oh please wait outside and we will come out to give you your order when it's ready." I glanced over and noticed someone bagging takeout orders, so I walked back outside. Another 25 minutes passed and no one has come out to deliver my takeout order. It was about 45 minutes since I placed the order and I was not happy. I walked back inside and asked the server behind the counter. Mind you this is the 3rd server. They asked what I ordered (since my name was not taken down when the order was placed, it made it unorganized) and one of the two takeout bags that was sitting on the counter for a good 20 minutes I noticed it was my order. When I got home, the burger buns were all soggy and the fries were soft and not crispy anymore. This is such an unfortunate situation because I've always shared positive comments about The Cottage, but with the experience I had yesterday, I will be rethinking to come back.

The chicken is Hawaiian-style, and the meal comes with daikon pickles. As a pickle lover, I was excited and these were awesome They were a strange highlighter-yellow color, but don't let that scare you. They were delicious! The chicken tenders were HUGE and tasted like nice pieces of breast meat. They were crispy, well seasoned and filling enough that I could only finish 2 out of 3. I also ordered the kimchi mac & cheese and fries. Everything is à la carte, and honestly, the hardest part was picking sides because there were so many choices First, the FRIES. Crispy, clean tasting and seasoned perfectly. I'm emphasizing this because here in Seattle, fries are always a mystery You truly never know what you're going to get. The kimchi mac & cheese surprised me in the best way. I was a little nervous the kimchi sauce would overpower everything, but I barely noticed it. Every bite was cheesy, thick and creamy with a sharper cheese flavor, not that overly gooey, messy mac & cheese. I'd heard before coming here that their spice levels can run hotter than advertised, for example, that the mild cayenne might taste more like hot. Personally, I didn't think the mild was hotter than advertised. If you enjoy seasoned food, you should be fine. If you're sensitive to spice or heavy seasoning, just work your way up. And don't skip the dips! I tried the hibiscus BBQ sauce and really liked it. I'm normally a honey mustard girl too, but I wasn't paying extra for another sauce Luckily, the dip portion was pretty generous and plenty for my meal. Service was fast, informative and decent. The restaurant itself was small, quiet and super laid-back. I went with a friend and only saw maybe two other people come in while we were there. Next time I'm trying that cucumber salad Overall, crispy Hawaiian-style chicken, great sides, GOOD fries, awesome pickles and portions that actually fill you up. I'll definitely be back.

Fair warning, my spice tolerance is pretty high so what I think of as medium may not be what everyone else expects medium to be, since I saw a lot of the reviews on Google said that it was too spicy. Everything here was a bit on the salty side, but not unbearable. The fries were also pretty good, so I'd probably get more of those!

We booked a reservation via OpenTable and arrived right on time. They sat us immediately. Nothing too remarkable about the space. Looks like a typical American restaurant you would see in any town or city. I did notice the staff are very casually dressed with t-shirt uniforms which made me think this place is much more casual than I expected based on the menu. We ended up trying the following: - Spicy Steamed Manila Clams: Below average. The clams themselves were fine, but they were completely overpowered by the chorizo and broth. It felt more like eating a chorizo dish, with a few clams included. - Foie Gras Torchon: Ok. Foie gras was fine, but the crostini felt store bought and rather cardboard-like. - Peach and Burrata Salad: Ok. We got exactly as described, but didn't find it particularly fresh. - Chicago Pulled Pork Dip: Ok. Not an item I normally see on the menu in this part of the USA, it was not bad. Good bread to meat proportion, and pulled pork was pretty good. Chips were good too. Hearty dish, but not particularly memorable in any way. - House Cut French Fries: Below average. Fries were soggy. I thought the garlic-saffron aioli was a mustard because of how yellow it was - it didn't taste like much. Service was adequate. Friendly enough, but nothing outstanding. I will give credit for the complimentary cookies at the end of the meal - that was nice. Overall, I wasn't overly impressed. Maybe I was expecting more because of the high ratings on Yelp and Google reviews. I feel they have a pretty solid looking menu, but they cut corners on quality and execution, so the final result doesn't compare to other restaurants serving the same type of food.
