Visited this place over the weekend after a long time. The seating is decent, and we were able to get in pretty quickly even though it was the weekend. We tried the weekend specials - chicken fry appetizer , chicken pulao, and lime soda. The appetizer was nice and a bit on the spicier side (to our liking). The chicken pulao was comforting and well-cooked. The lime soda was refreshing and went really well with the meal. The only downside was the service- the server arrived a bit late and seemed busy chatting, which made things feel a little inattentive. I do wish they paid more attention to customers. They are very inconsistent in briyani, I always order the same briyani for my kids and every alternate order has some issue in my last order missed they gave me a different briyani and in my latest order there were hair in it and not a single but the bunch. And it's very hard for pick up order as you open at ur home and my home is 15 mins away. This place is located along Bothell-Everett Highway. They have plenty of seating inside and offers a wide variety of Biryani options. Service is efficient and the food quality is decent. They only provide bottle water and they charge for these. In addition, the portions are huge so be prepared to ask for take-out boxes for leftovers. read more

Overall, not much to complain about here--everything we tried was solid. We started with an order of samosas, which were impressively large and filling. They had a satisfying crunch, and the flavorful filling made them a standout appetizer. Honestly, these could be a meal on their own, and I'd definitely order them again. The garlic naan was thin but packed with a strong buttery flavor. It worked perfectly as a vessel for the butter chicken sauce we dipped it into. We also tried the goat dum biryani, one of their most popular dishes. The portion of rice was huge--almost overwhelming--but hidden within were delicious pieces of goat. I appreciated the goat's chewy texture, though the sauce provided wasn't nearly enough to balance out all that rice. We visited on a Saturday lunch and noticed that the dining area was pretty empty, with most people opting for takeout. It is conveniently located on Bothell-Everett Hwy, but the staff are inattentive/completely ignored us, most of the food was just not it, and the vibe was a bit off. They DO NOT ACCEPT the 15% discount code for Yelpers who check in, saying that it's owned by new people and that offer was from the last one. The masala tea wasn't flavorful/very thin, and had a lot of gritty bits at the bottom; the veg pakora was mostly batter bits; and the paneer absolutely upset our stomachs (the leftovers confirmed it). I recently tried the Ulavacharu Chicken Biryani, Chicken Fried piece Biryani, Apollo Fish, and Paneer Butter Masala. The Apollo Fish was very fresh and delicious--highly recommended! The Paneer Butter Masala leans toward the sweeter side but tasted great. The Chicken Fried piece Biryani was flavorful and decent. This place deserves 5 stars! Their bezawada paneer biryani with double masala is bomb! So much flavor and spice! If you can't handle spicy food, then get their mild or medium spice option because the spicy and double masala option does get pretty hot. But if you are a spice lover then go for it. This is our default restaurant for rich, delicious, mouth-tingling Indian cuisine. On the spicy side, I have to introduce some of our old and new favorites :) For the appetizer, mutton fry is our go-to. Aromatic, complex, moist, with a gradual burn you will need a naan or roti to help put out the fire. We had a goat curry which I'm unsure of the name... maybe the Goan Goat Curry. This is a new favorite! Chunks of tender meat, some small bones so be careful. We know that meat nearest to bones are the tastiest! There was adequate gravy to soak up into the naan and roti. Another new favorite discovered: Mutton Kheema Biryani! I love my biryanis and this one was just superb! Served in layers like an Indian lasagna, the richness of this biryani caused my tastebuds to sing like a choir! That was all we do try with just the two of us. Will have to bring the family in again to get more variety. BTW apparently they now have chikoo shakes on the weekends. If you have never tried it, strongly recommended! But know that chikoo is a grainy fruit that is naturally sweet. If you are sensitive to textures, then maybe not. read more

If you want to receive the wrong meal 15 minutes later than the person who you are dining with, with piss poor service, and a restaurant who refuses to honor their own Yelp discount, this is the place for you! When we arrived, we could barely get recognized as a restaurant diner because there was so many take out people and companies. Obviously this is a takeout place with the disguise of being a restaurant. I was surprised to have plastic cups for water that never was refilled unless you flagged down someone. The cutlery was wood or bamboo. Not great. My husband got his meal. Later, another employee came to our table. I said that I didn't get my meal. He asked if I wanted it. Seriously? Fifteen minutes later I got my meal and it wasn't what I ordered. They said it was correct. Look at the pictures. No, it wasn't correct. It was so bad. It was a ton of rice with chicken that was filled with cumin. The flavor was so boring. Never was there an apology for the wrong dish or the delay. We waited forever to pay. I checked in on Yelp and for "appreciation" a 15% discount was offered in the app. The restaurant said that they "don't do Yelp" and refused to honor the discount. They are terrible. I wouldn't recommend it and I won't. First impressions are so important. What was mine? There's nothing "royal" about it and it's not a "house". It's an ordinary strip-mall building with no character. There are several old pieces of tape stuck to the glass entry door and lots of fingerprints on the dirty glass. It screams "We don't care!!!" And, they don't. Upon entering, there's no host nor a pleasant greeting. After you locate an available booth, you discover fake bamboo design paper plates, a flimsy spoon, a fall-apart fork, and a small plastic bottle of the cheapest Costco water. No glass for drinking your water. If there were one, I'm sure it would be paper. There is a sealed bottle of some thick yellow mysterious liquid; with a label that only has the Royal Biryani logo. No ingredients are listed. It could be anything and none of us risked trying it. Perhaps, it's the antidote for the eventual effects of the horrible food? The "menu" is a QR Code printed on a little folded piece of cardboard. A server? Forget about it! You order off the menu app. You do not have the opportunity to inquire about the choices. Google it and hope for the best. Unfortunately, you're going to get the worst! A random food-runner will deliver your choices. What we got was a clever presentation of a mountain of basmati rice with our food buried somewhere beneath. A single slice of red onion on top of the rice mountain was the creative garnish. It was a captivating presentation. HA! Due to the mountain of rice, it appears as though one is getting a generous portion. Not! It's mostly rice and a scant serving of whatever you ordered is buried beneath. A not-so-clever ruse. After I dug out some of what was lying-in-state beneath the rice mountain, my serving was mostly bones. Some were dangerously sharp chards and there was one large bone with no meat on it. Why that big naked bone was served as part of the dish, I'll never understand. Another indication that they don't care is that the bathroom door is faulty and they haven't bothered to fix it. Most likely, it's been like that for a long time. The non-stop Indian Music is loud and not designed to have a conversation. It's not for a pleasant dining ambiance. It's distracting and annoying. The paint scheme on the walls is 3 clashing colors with dirty marks that could easily be cleaned. They don't care. The food runners are random and avoid eye cotact and having any friendly and informative interaction. We had several different ones and they knew nothing about the food. They seemed reluctant to interact and determined to depart as soon as possible. Charming! When it came time to pay, their state-of-the-art POS system was down. They probably bought the cheapest one that was offered. No surprise there! For our inconvenience, only cash was accepted. All in all, the place is totally lame and the way-below-average food was over-priced, and forgettable. Until later.... In the middle of that night, I awakened and could not sleep for 2 hours. Strange. That sleepless time was followed by intestinal cramps and many trips to the bathroom. I spoke with my fellow diners and they experienced the same thing. Criminal! Food poisoning! No extra charge. Please, go somewhere else, somewhere good. This place isn't. It's a terrible restaurant and the owner(s) should be severly fined by the Health Department. We had eaten at a restaurant in the same plaza a couple of days before, so happy we had the chance to go back and try their food. The interior was a little old, but everything was very clean. Had to wait a little while to order but the food came out quickly. We ordered the Boneless chicken biryani and the chicken just melted in our mouths. We got medium spice level and it was perfect. The only downside to this dish was the raita had no sourness to it. 7/10 The next thing we ordered was the malai kofta. The rich, creamy sauce was very good but the potato and paneer balls were delicious. They had a soft yet flavorful mouthfeel and the hint of ginger was a really nice touch. 8/10 Saving the best for last, we ordered the bhendi masala. There was a slight char to the onions and the okra was very tender and not fibrous at all. 10/10. No notes. We will definitely be back for more. Would give it 4.5 if we could. read more

The stars say it all. On a late Friday afternoon stopped by this place to try their biryani. Ordered chinta chigura (tamarind leaves) paneer biryani and bheemli Mirchi Chaat. Server recommended the biryani. So we were excited to try this. After 5 mins, another man comes and says they are out of it and instead suggested Gongura biryani and told our original server "make Gongura chicken biryani". Without checking with us, he decided to change the protein. We had to flag our server and tell him to make paneer as we're vegetarians. Bheemli Chaat was spicy and hit home. Definitely fresh. Biryani was a HUGE disappointment. Whilst the river was fresh, the biryani masala lacked the punch and heat. We felt like we're eating carbs for the sake of eating. I have had plenty of Hyderabadi biryani and this AIN'T the real deal. There's a spot in Redmond that is far better than this. We've ordered a few times from this place. We had the samosas, chicken lollipops, Bezawada Chicken Briyani, Malai Kofta, Saag Paneer, butter chicken and of course naan. I would order it all again, they are all really good! Samosas are big, crispy and flaky. Chicken lollipops are delicious but pricey for the amount you get. Bezawada chicken briyani is so flavorful and jam packed with spice, it's a must try but beware it'll have you sweating. My only complaint is one time we ordered our naans were burnt on one side and the butter chicken wasn't their usual best, something tasted off about it. I do notice that some days you get more meat in your curry than others, but the sauce is always cooked to perfection and the biryani was SPICY and HOT when we got it home. WOW. What a drastic change for the worse. When this location was Mayuri, it was our top pick, along with Clay Pit in Town Center. It switched to Dine India, which we didn't care for. Now, supposedly under the same ownership, it's Royal Biryani House, and has been our #1 for over a year and a half. I don't know why the sudden downturn in quality, but the last three times we have ordered from them, despite ordering the same entrées we always do, we receive something COMPLETELY different. There is absolutely no consistency anymore. For example, the Andhra Chicken at first had chunks of chicken in a smooth and spicy gravy. The last time we got it, it was think, chunky, and with tons of peppers and onions, and didn't at all resemble what we had received the first time. We ordered it again tonight, and it's something different yet again. It has bell peppers and jalapeño, but is watery and with no onion. We have two small children, and as such, we order their food "mild". Today, we ordered everything (except the Andhra which is inherently spicy) mild so that we could share it all with the whole family. The receipt said "mild", and the woman taking my order repeated it back to me as "mild". What we received was BLOW YOUR HEAD OFF HOT, in no way suitable for most adults, let alone, a small child. I'm the kind of person that can eat ghost peppers and not wince. All of our entrees were SO hot, that I am just thankful that my husband tried it before my seven-year-old daughter did, because otherwise she would be crying right now. Additionally, all four entrées are thin and runny, passing right through the rice. We asked for Tamarind and Mint Chutneys, which she acknowledged, but we did not receive them. The naan is easily half of what they used to be. We understand COVID and the affects it's had on businesses, which is part of why we only go to locally owned, family owned business now. This, however, is simply unacceptable. As I type this, my husband is getting take-out from Clay Pit for my daughter who didn't get to eat any of what we got from RBH. My son gave up and ate a corn dog. Sadly, I guess three bad tries is enough. We will no longer patronize this establishment.
