Very nice inside. Restaurant has nice big booths that were great for a large party and a bar area. They have a full bar which is sometimes hard to find with Indian restaurants. Food was very flavorful and delicious. Menu is big and has some variety. Good size portions. Would definitely return if I'm looking for a nicer Indian meal. Spinach naan and lamb curry stood out. We enjoyed everything we order including multiple types of naan, chicken biryani, butter chicken, eggplant, plus probabaly a few more I can't think of. read more

We decided to come here because of the great reviews but left disappointed. When we arrived it was not very busy, but service was pretty slow. For appetizers we ordered the vegetable samosas, which were delicious and definitely the highlight of the night, but the falafel was slightly burnt. For our meal we ordered the Tikka Masala with chicken, but the order initially came out incorrectly (sent us Tikka Kababs instead). Thankfully the replacement came out quickly, but our waitress seemed to forget about us soon after. The Tikka Masala was very very sweet despite ordering the hot spice level, which was unexpected and unpleasant. The garlic naan was tasty though. I ordered Goat Biryanis again. Again , the taste is amazing and I can say that it's better than any other biryani's I tried in this area. Even the rice tastes so good the next day. The big issue that the carry out box was full of rice and bones. Huge pieces of goat bones with no meat at all. So most of the order was rice and goat bones. Very few pieces of goat meat that tasted good but there was hardly any meat. I have taken the picture of the meatless bones and posted it. When I contacted the business using the Facebook messenger and explained the issue and sent them the picture to see themselves, the reply was a joke ?? According to them the goat meat can be tricky and it's hard to tell ??? Well it was not very tricky when I paid over 40 dollars for a goat biryani's delivery ???? To end up with Bones Biryani's . This is a terrible customer service. I will try them one more time in the future and go from there. read more

Great location in downtown Bothell, easy access from 522. We had been craving the aroma and spices of Indian food so we decided to stop by this new to us restaurant. Yum! We ordered daal, chicken tikka masala, Biryani with chicken and lamb vindaloo. Each dish was tasty and well made, competitively priced and nice portions. Spices warm and soothing to the palate. From arrival, we were seated at a nice table and service was warm and attentive. It was a quiet weekday evening with us and a few families seated, take out customers in and out, and no one in the bar area which was just fine for us. A full space enjoying happy hour would definitely be a different vibe but we enjoyed our evening and will be back for sure! read more

The Bay Leaf is one of my favorite restaurants in Bothell. I will admit, I haven't had a lot of Indian food, so I'm not saying it's authentic or better than others, but I do love it for what it is. I always get the gyro platter, and I really like the flavoring of the meat...I don't think it's roasted on a spit but it doesn't taste bland like traditional frozen gyro slices, so whatever they do, it's working. The garlic naan is large enough for two and is so tasty. The hummus is not my favorite...it's good, but nothing sets it apart from an average hummus at other places. The only complaint I have is about the service. The servers are nice...I've never had a rude server, but I've never once been offered a drink refill within 15 minutes of finishing a drink. I usually go in and get one Cocktail and a Coke because I know I won't get the chance to order another one unless I hunt someone down, and this isn't on a busy night, this is just an average night. You're hurting your own business when someone that wants to order more can't because the servers don't come back! I've also had multiple instances where we were charged full price for happy hour menu items. They fixed it when I mentioned something, but it's just something that shouldn't happen each time you go there. We would probably go twice as often to the Bay Leaf if the service was better, but maybe that's better for my wallet (and my waistline) anyway. read more

This has become one of my favorite local Indian places! The food is always fresh and delicious and their pakora is gluten free which immediately won my heart! The restaurant is good sized with plenty of seating and an intimate atmosphere with warm tones, intricate decorations, and low lighting. I've eaten in a couple times with friends and had great friendly service. We've also ordered take out a couple times and food was well prepared and secured. My favorite things are obviously the pakora, the butter chicken, chicken masala, biryani, and of course the husband of mine loves his naan. Just writing this review is making my mouth water for the perfect crisp and seasoning of those lil delightful pakoras. We'll have to put this on our date night list in the near future! read more

I actually had a lot of expectations for this place but it really let me down. After seeing so many great reviews, my friends and I were really excited to try this place. Service was really good, the owner was really nice. Food wise: Baba ghanoush: it was runny and on the tart side, so not your typical for sure. I don't know how I feel about it. It was also weird, because they gave us a pretty decent amount of baba ghanoush but not much pita bread, so we had a lot left after eating all the pita bread. Instead of offering more pita bread, or leaving it for us to eat during the meat, they just took it away. I mean, did I pay for the baba ghanoush or for the pita bread?? Mixed kebab platter: for it being mixed, they gave us only chicken and beef, no lamb or anything else. The meat was just standard, not super tender or anything, the best part of the dish was the roasted veggies. The portion was ridiculously small for what you pay for (24.99). It comes with some veggies, and a side of pita bread and hummus. Usually, when my husband and I get a mixed platter elsewhere, we would be satisfied or close to be full, we were still hungry after this. Overall, it was just ok. Nothing really special. read more

We have been getting takeout from here for a few years. It used to be super great but now it's consistently just pretty good, but nothing too exceptional. And quite pricey. My two biggest complaints are the fact that their front door requires Superman strength to open... And occasionally their chicken is rubbery. Staff is usually friendly, sometimes their online ordering site is down so that can be annoying. I'd like to say that the atmosphere inside is nice, it seems so at least but we've never sat down and ate so I can't really review that, but I'm curious for regulars how the heck they open that front door! First time at Bay Leaf Bar & Grill though we have been meaning to visit for a while now. Have to we love our Indian and this place did not disappoint. Restaurant is clean airy and pleasant on the eye plenty of seats so you are not sat on top of one another. We started with Falafel and Naan Bread both were delicious and good portion size. Main dishes were Butter Chicken ( similar to Chicken Tika Masala but too creamy for me, more ,like a soup than a curry) then a the Chicken Jalfrezi, this was perfect nice blend of herbs and spices, good heat but not overpowering, two sides of rice fed three +. I have seen this restaurant in downtown Bothell, but somehow though it was an Asian fusion restaurant. Surprised when I checked their menu recently. We went on a Sunday night, actually quite late for the dinner, with around 40 mins to close. Ambiance of this place just superb. You get the feeling of what needs to be expected when you walk right in. They do have plenty of options on their menu. Various appetizers, salads, grill specials, meat & vegetarian curry delights, tandoori breads, cocktails and mocktails. The menu is rich! We picked up Gobi Manchurian for the appetizer, Karahi Chicken curry, butter Naan, Lamb chops. I wanted to try the Lahori Mule, but it wasn't available and had to settle for Mango Mojito. The mocktail turned out to be better than I expected, although I didn't like the presentation of it. Lamb chops is Rack of lambs seasoned & grilled in Indian style - looks to be one of their popular dishes. They made that one to perfection. The lamb was cooked well and meat was very tender & juicy. Must try it with the mint chutney served along with it. Too good to miss that one. Delicious. Butter naan was soft, and a it was terrific with the Chicken Karahi. The curry had the rich flavor I was looking for. Wasn't spicy, but the flavors were really good. Gobi Manchurian was really crispy and a little spicy. We didn't feel the soy sauce flavor on that one - that's something I really liked it. Service was Fabulous. They very so friendly. We walked in late and then we ordered a grill item, they took our order without any hesitation. They made sure we were comfortable and answered all our queries on various items. Trust me, they were so patient with our group - that's near impossible to be honest! Finding parking is a herculean task. There are plenty of street parking options and parking garage. But it's tough to find one. This place is well maintained. Very clean and neat. Ambiance is top!  It's a $$ place. You are paying for the location - that's my thought about this. The food is really good, still feels the pricing is not justified. But overall it's satisfactory! Will surely recommend it to anyone looking for a nice Indian place near downtown Bothell! read more

The curries we had were mild but flavorful, the lamb was tender, and the naans were large. We especially liked the spinach naan with our curries - thick and chewy with spinach inside. The saag paneer was especially creamy. Don't order sides of rice because the curries include it. Staff was very friendly and quick to get us in and out with our takeout order. read more

The portion was very generous - this could definitely be an entree shared between two people. My biggest critique about this location is the limited parking; highly suggest parking in Bothell City Hall and walking over rather than trying to find street parking. read more

My first, long-awaited visit was somewhat of a disappointment. I am writing a review because I think this restaurant has potential and I'm hoping the owners will read this and heed my unsolicited advice. My friend and I visited on a Monday afternoon because our favorite spot is closed on Mondays. When we entered, I looked for a cozy spot to sit near a window as we had the entire restaurant to ourselves but didn't find such a place. Booths are such a welcome sight but they were all wood and looked uncomfortable and too enclosing with hard angles and high backs. Despite a lot of windows, the place was quite dark. Partly that is because the bar took over the entire corner area. We did appreciate the beautiful decor and cleanliness. I order Dahl Maharani and it was tasty but was too oily and could use more spices (not heat). The rice was perfect. I was excited to order a chai from an authentic Indian chef but was shocked and extremely disappointed to find it incredibly BLAH, lukewarm, and presented in a small mug. You can do better! Why? How? Why not make this a thing your restaurant is famous for, authentically prepared and served in a cool Indian mug? Get people in the door with this item and then they'll order lunch while they're there. I would also add Golden Milk to your menu for the same reason. I prepare this from scratch but I would love to try an authentic cup of it. Service was good and our young waitress was so sweet so I tipped well. However she didn't even ask us how our food was!!! This is huge and I could have told her about the chai and possibly she could have had the chef try again. We'll try it one more time, maybe I'll see if the hummus has much flavor and garlic. Most Mediterranean places "dumb down" their hummus to American palates which I think is a big mistake. My suggestion is to strive to have it taste like the hummus served at the Mediterranean Kitchen in Bellevue. You can see the lines out the door to recognize the wisdom of staying true to your heritage I'm a big fan of ethnic restaurants and really hope that you succeed. read more

First we were greeted by the kindest man! I'm guessing he is the owner of what seems to be a family operated business. He was so sweet and happy to have us in. Atmosphere: I loved the vibe here! This is definitely a modern Indian restaurant that keeps true to authentic food. It was airy with lofted ceilings and dark wood tables with a resin on them. Idk it just worked for me. Lots of Indian art throughout the restaurant too. Drinks: my boyfriend could not stop talking about his Himalayan Snowman beer and said it was one of the best beers he's had. I ordered "the jewel" which had white rum, pineapple juice, disarroño and I believe pomegranate liquor. Served straight up in a coupe glass. Loved it. Food: we started with garlic naan. I would be lying if I said it was the best naan I've ever had. But garlic covered carbs are my favorite so it was still yummy. I ordered the tandoori prawns. It also came with a little Mediterranean salad and sautéed vegetables. I personally think the prawns were the tiniest bit dry but the flavor was amazing. My boyfriend had the tandoori salmon and oh my gosh if was DEE LISH. I kept stealing it off his plate bc it was exploding with flavor, cooked to perfection, and somehow stayed hot? I feel like fish cools off quickly and idk what magic made it stay hot but it was glorious. I will also say the value for the portions you get is amazing.
