Seabreeze Tour -
The Sea Breeze Cruise was just wonderful. It was a beautiful day. As we entered, the folks working on the cruise were extremely helpful with going up the few steps to get on. Seating was comfortable- on cushions along the side where I sat in front,, but there were other areas of the boat in which to sit, too.
Some folks (that I met for the first time) had brought drinks and snacks to celebrate a fiftieth birthday. They were generous and friendly to offer to share, but my friend and I simply enjoyed the fresh sea breeze and beautiful ocean as the catamaran's huge sails were expertly controlled to give us a beautiful ride with spectacular ocean view.
The staff were always friendly, helpful, and professional, and the peace of the ocean view was wonderful. This trip was definitely a summer highlight.
The location is right near the heart of Hyannis - so there's plenty to do by way of shopping and lunch before and/or after the trip.
A few tips followed by a suggestion:
*As the website suggests, leave plenty of extra time to find parking and walk. It could take extra time to establish you are waiting in the right spot. . I would give it a half earlier arrival, unless you walk very fast and are sure you know the correct location of the area from which the boat leaves.
*You'll know you're waiting in the right area if you're in a parking lot with two street signs behind a stop sign in the corner of the lot next to the road. (See photo.) The two signs indicate Lewis Bay Road and Willow Street.
*There was a handicapped parking spot, if needed. There was a bit of walking needed on boat, from what I could see. There were a few steps up into the boat and a bit of walking on the boat to get to your sear. The kind staff were helpful with folks getting on, when needed.
*If, like me, you have taken one of the company's other cruises, note that cruises leave from different parts of the harbor. Confirm ahead of time.
Consider bringing sunblock lotion, sweater, jacket . The day we went (Sat, Aug 14th) , it was around 72 on shore, but it did at times get a bit deliciously cooler by several degrees at times on the boat. Bring snacks or drinks, if you wish.
Suggestion:
As friend and I waited, along with orhers also taking the trip (folks I was meeting for the first time), we were all confused about whether we were waiting in the correct spot. Several people from the other group were starting to head toward another part of the harbor, when fortunately, we met two folks who had in the past seen the boat leave from the area where we waited. That's how we knew we were in the correct place. Staff wouldn't have know of problems that had preceded the trip. as nobody mentioned this. Instead, we happily boarded and enjpyed the excellent trip.
The problem is that the online instructions give a street address: 147 Lewis Bay Road, but the parking lot (which is essentially where you need to wait) doesn't have the number 147 anywhere, so you don't know if you're in the right place...especially given that on the Cape, gps systems can be off in areas where teception isn't great.
Suggestion to eliminate confusion.
Adding signage would be helpful....If it is possible, I suggest that the company put up a sign stating, "Bay Spirit Cruises Sea Breeze Trip Waiting Area." If that is not allowable, perhaps the company can erect a large sign that says, 147 Lewis Bay Road" for the parking lot or dock or prevail upon the town to do so. This would be helpful for folks wishing to establish they are in the right place.
I also suggest that inckuding the following in online idirections...in addition to info already available:
,"If you plug 147 Lewis Bay Road, Hyannis, into your gps, there is a pretty good chance that your GPS will bring you to the right place. However, you may want to confirm you are in the right place because this address is actually a parking lot right in front of the water...What you will see to help you are twi street signs behind a Stop sign in the corner of the parking lot showing that you are at the crossroads of two streets: Lewis Bay Road and Willow Street. See photo.
When you arrive there, you will see a little parking lot with a handicapped parking apace and s few other "official " spaces. The parking lot faces the harbor, and when the boat arrives, you will need to walk down a wooden ramp.
Keep in mind...in case you have taken a different Bay State Cruise this summer, the boat picks up in a different location, across the harbor from some of its other cruises.
If you have a question or want further info about pickup location, check the website for your cruise or call when lines are staffed, between ---and ---.
I would include the photo of street signs in the directions. This photo that also includes "stop" sign will help people to establish that they sre waiting in the right place.
In any case, I loved the wonderful trio and will take again! Highly recommend! Five stars!!!! read more
