Although quaint, it really bothered me that there wasn't more literature available on-site that explained what all the historic items on display were about. Was the harmonica a former possession of Old Man Nicholson? Seriously, there was a harmonica on display with a little white label next to it reading "harmonica." No duh it is a harmonica, but what is so important about it? It also really bothered me that there was a doll on display with her hair parted for pigtails and only one pigtail was secured with a ribbon. The other pigtail was just lose; she looked like a homeless lady off her meds. I spent a long time staring at that doll thinking of all the reasons the person who arranged the display left her like that: 1)It was arranged by a man. 2)Someone found the doll with only one original hair ribbon and realized it was missing a ribbon but did not buy matching ribbon from Jo-Ann's because she wrongly wanted to keep the doll "authentic." 3)The person had absolutely no clue what she was doing and she has no eye for design what so ever. Perhaps she is an accountant or banker. Either way, this person never spent a lazy summer afternoon braiding her sister's hair poolside, that's for damn sure.

This crafty type of experience is definitely up my alley even if it's not so for my BF, lol. It was easy enough to schedule and they were very accommodating with the time slots. Upon getting there though, it wasn't as organized or streamlined as I was expecting. The space is very small, cramped and low ceilinged. We went on a Sunday and it was packed with people. I had to ask about the class and wait an extra 6ish min for an instructor even though we arrived at the exact time of our registered class. I did enjoy the class but felt it was more of a demo, then you're on your own instead of step-by-step. Our instructor would jump in if you really needed help. For example, another worker just ended up finishing his bowl but he gave a brave start. It was fun and relaxing choosing paints and then painting but just wish there was more inspo provided or guidance. We were just left to our own devices but wish there could've been templates, example pictures or even stencils to help out less artistically inclined (I'm not speaking of myself, of course, but for kids or anyone who who could use some extra help). Checking out turned out to be an ordeal, and they should majorly redo this process to make it faster and more streamlined. My BF and I waited for more than 15min behind only one other person trying to pay. We also had our voucher gift printed out so not sure why it took the worker about 15min to enter it into the tablet and make it so awkward and complicated. The class came up to about $80 for the 2 of us so it's no chump change and is more expensive than some of the chains like Clayground, etc. They have a tip jar and ask for tips which feels in bad taste since there was virtually no service or even guidance besides the class portion. I can't imagine paying $40 for a clay piece here, painting and designing it myself, grabbing my own supplies, returning supplies, washing brushes, then paying a tip on top of that. One more annoying thing is that the worker told me to check their instagram page to see our pieces get pictured and I diligently reviewed every single post for the entire month and our pieces were never shown... The location is also pretty inconvenient from me. I would recommend a chain/franchised place with cleaner, less clutter, more space and better facilities.

We were told we could pick up our finished pieces in about a week. They also offer other creative options like just painting pre-made pieces or working with glass. There were a variety of painting styles and tools available, and the overall vibe was very welcoming and creative. The service was friendly and accommodating. The only downside was that I noticed a girl who seemed to be in training, and the manager didn't treat her very kindly--there were moments that felt unnecessarily harsh and condescending, which was a little uncomfortable to witness. It was literally like the movie stomp the yard. The floors constantly creak. Not an ideal space for classes in which I attended. More of a party space vs a learning event environment. You could visibly see the insulation in the ceiling. The bathrooms were clean but had the cheapest of toilet paper with butterflies on it. Overall this is a party venue not a total event space.

The space was well air conditioned inside and I felt comfortable during my whole visit. According to an article on Cleveland.com website, "The 10,000 square-foot building has a long history; it was originally a furniture showroom in the early 1900s, and it later became a banquet space and cultural center for Gordon Square's Vietnamese community. Holland and fellow business partners Kyle Lawrence, John Lawrence and K.C. Stitak led the vision for Gordon Green, and worked to maintain historic aspects of the property like its original hardwood floors and tin ceilings, according to a press release." Even if they emailed back to say they can't refund the money, I would be fine with that, but NO RESPONSE seems intentional. UPDATE: Immediately after writing this review I suddenly got an email saying "you've been refunded, it takes a few days", no apology or explanataion. Wonderful! Would have loved that communication a week ago.

It's a perfect place for personal life's big occasions and business events. I visited Ariel for years for various occasions. Most often, various networking and social events (by Woman Up and International Partners in Mission). A few times the businesses located in the building. I really enjoyed every experience. The building has plenty of character - exposed brick and wood details, twinkling lights, and panoramic views of the city (looks amazing during the day and night). It's very industrial chic. It also has lots of space (68,000 square feet to be exact). It has a rooftop! I mainly visited the fourth floor for social occasions. I also visited the first floor businesses (very spacious suites). I found all to be expansive and capable of fitting many guests. Every event I've visited in this space was capable of housing many vendors and leaving sufficient space for dancing and interaction. Events I've attended keep being hosted in this space making me think it works well and are a pleasant experience. There are multiple elevators available in the building. One of them was not functional during my latest visit, but guests were easily redirected to the other one. This is one of a few event places in the city with spacious parking lot. It's huge, easy to navigate, and attached to the building. I would highly recommend this venue. The industrial CLE vibes, character, and the views are unmatched. It's a modern space yet with so much history!

The shower started at 12pm and we were able to get into the room at 11am. We were scrambling to get everything done until the last minute but it all worked out. An hour and a half to set up might have been more ideal but that's okay, we had a lot of people helping. We were able to bring in our own food which was nice. They do no allow alcohol, fyi. Otherwise, I would have done mimosas or "mom-osas" for myself. ;) We also brought in our own linens. The room rental for 4 hours was $200 and that also allowed guests to check out the butterfly house that same day. There were not butterflies since it was January but we did see the parrot and a lot of cool plants. I would highly recommend this space to others. We had around 55 people at the shower and I would say you wouldn't want to have more than 60 guests to fit the space comfortably.
