This place will make you second guess yourself, put you through more hoops to jump through and will leave you more aggravated then what is worth. The psychiatrist that was assigned to me took a Hippocratic oath to do no harm. Well, she ended up doing more harm than good with the procedures she had me jumping through with my ADHD treatment. She denied my symptoms and refused to help me. BayCare is the worst! Stay away! The center refused to acknowledge the diagnosis that I have had from three prior physicians, ask for diagnostic testing that would cost $$$$ - THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. Wanted a second opinion and new psychiatrist immediately confirmed what three previous physicians diagnosed me with. Dr Humphrey is a useless as the mask she wears in her office. it's unfortunate that my husband who has a mental health condition that requires medication has ended up needing to wait two months for a medication refill after his dr left because he needed a more recent appointment. I think a new look at policies and procedures for emergency situations would be in order. If someone is on medications that can negatively affect their brain a refill till such appointment should be warranted or at least exceptions for quicker appointments should be made so there's not a long lapse without medications. Now hes been depressed, angry.... The whole family is going through the motions. It's frustrating! read more

"Went to this place in 2019. When I first went I was welcomed, showed them my insurance, and was told it was accepted and that it would be free of charge because of my insurance. Went dozens of times no charges or copays, over the year I went. My last appointment was in the beginning of 2020. It is now March of 2021, and I received a notice from a debt collector of a unpaid services in the mail. NEVER had to pay or sign anything, but now, over two years since the start/end of my treatment, they want to claim my insurance won't cover fully my treatment (Which they do, they were called). No emails, phone calls, letters from BayCare Behavioral Health in Winter Haven, just a random debt collectors notice letter and as of today multiple debt collection phone calls. If I was informed when I asked about insurance and payment coverage about payments they would of been paid after each visit or I would have not gone to dozens of appointments to begin with. Deceit, Harassment, and unreliable service provided here. I don't know where to begin. I saw Dr. Rao since around 2010 and he was/is very attentive and treated all patients with respect. He has taken about a year off and will not return until February 2020. Sadly, I am certain he will most likely retire soon. BayCare has now changed their rules that you have to be seen sooner than every 6 months, even though every six months is usually sufficient for me and has worked out great for me. If I ever needed to see him sooner, I was always accommodated. I have private insurance and have to pay $60.00 for each visit! So that is always an extra $60.00 a year that my not be necessary for me each year to pay. The new BayCare rules are if you are not seen every 4-5 months, you will have to begin as a new patient, which includes steps you must take to get back in to their system. I will explain the steps you must take to get back in the system below. The women who took over for Dr. Roa in his absence, Terri NP, did not look over my records at all when I saw her for my first appointment after Dr. Rao left for his time off. First of all she is not a physiatrist. She had me fill out a sheet of paper and I was having an off day. I could not answer the questions directly because each day is different and I felt put on the spot, unexpectedly. I could not think clearly due to a lot of extra stress with health issues two family members were just diagnosed with and a new death in my family. Terri proceeded to tell me that there is a new law that I have to be totally off of a a certain Rx. After speaking with my pharmacist I did find out that there is no law that states I can no longer take the same Rx she claimed there is a law about. I am very aware of the Opioid issue and agree that it should not be freely given as all Rx should not be. I have never abused my Rx in anyway as records and Walgreens pharmacy indicate. If anything, I probably need to take more of it once in a while as permitted on the bottle but I do not. Terri did not bother to look at my history. Her mind was set that she was totally taking me off Kolopin due to a law that does not exist. I understand some people do abuse Rx. However, I feel each persons case should be looked at individually. I have never even smoked a cigarette, done drugs of any kind, never had an issue with pain pills or been tipsy. Perhaps, I do not belong at this center. This anti-benzo (Klonopin) is something BayCare came up with as one of their rules is my best guess. For people who have real chemical imbalances and no issues with being addicted to anything just need help to feel normal. Not high, which I NEVER have. Just need to feel normal. If this was a law that she claims there is, there would be a ginormous mental crisis on our hands. As I mentioned, I only had to see Dr. Rao every 6 months or sooner only if I needed to. If BayCare didn't change their rules, I could see him when he returns in February. I trust him and if he wanted to take me off any Rx I would trust that. But if I do not return in January 2020 to see Terri again, who knows nothing about me. I will have to start over as a new patient which includes a class. Then at a later date I would have to see a counselor to decide if I can see a physiatrist again.Thus more money for BayCare. But yet I have been a patient of Dr. Roa's since 2010! I want to wait 6 months so I can see Dr. Rao again who really knows me and my history but this is no longer allowed by BayCare. I have tried to reach out to talk to someone in management but no one ever answers their phone and it has been a game of phone tag and messages left. Now I am stuck and do not know where to go to get the same care I received from Dr. Rao before BayCare made these changes for everyone. I wonder if this place is best for people with other issues because they have also just built a tall glass wall with a small slot at the bottom of the glass for the clerks to sit behind when they take your payments and have a security guard now. read more

I was in the clinic recently for an appointment. I am disabled and have a service dog that goes with me everywhere. On this particular appointment, I was approached by the security guard and asked questions about my dog. The person asked me what does the dog do as part of her being a service dog to me. I was asked all these questions in a waiting room full of other patients. The security guard spoke loudly and insisted that I go into detail. This information is my personal business. I had to say loudly what my diagnosis is and how the dog assists me. This could have been done in another location, where I was not within earshot of the other people. I was also asked to loudly say what my name was. Finally, I was asked a trick question. The security guard asked me if my animal was called anything else, like he was hoping that I would say "emotional support animal", so that he could have the pleasure of telling me I had to leave. But, I did not budge. I was told if I didn't give him my name, I would be asked these questions every time I came to the clinic. I feel that I was being harassed and the confidentiality of my medical information was violated. Whoever came up with this new policy is an idiot. read more

This center is awesome for adults/children needing mental/behavioral health services. There are therapists for people needing therapy and there are also providers for people needing medication management. This center also provides the community with SCCT services for people who are not insured. There is also an on-site pharmacy. This place is awesome and a lifesaver. I recommend. read more
