I was referred to this office by my BayCare primary care physician. Eight days after the referral was approved by my BayCare Medicare Complete plan in mid June, the office called to set an appointment. The first appointment would be late September for new patients. I checked with my PCP about the lag and was told to take it. I received an email and a text message stating that the ultrasound was NOT covered and I needed to pay over $100.00 at the time of service or before. I contacted my insurance to make sure nothing had changed. There have been no changes and the ultrasound is covered at 100%. Baycare billing has not yet submitted the claim. I have this in writing. On October 1st I received a collection text from ACS wanting $570. I never received an invoice for it. I called my insurance company Humana. Siya conferenced me in with Christina at Baycare CS Biling who determined who determined my issue was their computer billing process problem and that I really owe nothing. She transfered me to her supervisor Regina. Regina explained that their system messed up. She would get it corrected that day and recall the collection. So, I am still in collections for a BayCare screw up. Today 10/3 I tried calling Baycare Billing Department and the wonderful automated system transfered me to acs. I went to BayCare a few years ago for a procedure and I recently had my account audited and found out that a BayCare employee , who has worked there for 30 years has violated my personal health information. They pulled my Social Security number amongst other things. After the audit,, I was told that the BayCare employee was reprimanded with a talk. This is not the first time she has violated HIPPA laws from what I have learned. All employees know that it is illegal to violate hip laws, especially if you worked there for that long. But if you don't get caught, where's the accountability. Their security system is horrible and catching violators. I guess if I were a famous person for their actions would've been taken beyond a talk. So apparently BayCare allows HIPAA violations with a slap on the wrist. Baycare as a whole is a pretty good organization, but, Plant City Baptist is the pits. I will never return to their emergency department. I broke my leg and they took xrays and wheeled me back to the lobby to wait, this was at 9:30 am. At 2:00 pm I stopped the girl who was calling people back who arrived well after I did, if I should just leave and call an ortho on my own. I had my first appointment with my Baycare doctor on a Monday. During the course of the appointment I told the doctor I would need refills for my prescriptions, as I would be using the last of my meds that evening. The following day I called my pharmacy only to be advised they hadn't received any scripts for me. I called the doctors office on Wednesday and told them I was an insulin dependent diabetic and I needed my insulin. I was advised someone would call me back within 48 hours. I never received the call . I called the office on Monday and spoke with someone to find out what the status of my prescriptions, and to see if I should go to an emergency room due to my elevated sugar levels. I was told an e/r visit wasn't necessary at this time.I was also told they would call the pharmacy. I called the pharmacy the next day and was again told they had nothing for me. I called the doctors office after speaking with my pharmacy. When I told the person I was speaking to what the pharmacy had told me. They said" I don't know what to tell you it was called in yesterday. I called and requested to speak to someone in Baycare management. I explained my situation to them. They did follow up with me and explained there was confusion between the doctors office and pharmacy and it had been straightened out. I was able to get my prescriptions the next day. 11 days after my initial appointment. Around this time I started experiencing unusual symptoms, which were later diagnosed as Gastroparesis. I addition I was informed I have blood on my eye by my eye doctor. Both issues are brought on by high blood sugar levels. The eye may correct itself. The gastroparesis is with me for life. Took my mother to Winter Haven Hospital this morning per her doctor because she has a bacterial infection, UTI and Dehydrated. The doctor at W.H. Hospital was already put out that her primary doctor couldn't just see her or call in a prescription because this was "wasting her time' Infectious Disease was also supposed to be called because it's bacterial...Were they called...No one would tell me and we never seen the Infectious Disease Doctor. Blood Pressure was 157/129, her heart rate was 120, dehydrated, has Alzheimer, AFIB, Congested heart failure...a lot going on with my 88 year old mother. The know it all doctor wanted to give her Ciprofloxacin. I told the doctor that my mother is allergic to it...The doctor looked at me and said, "I doubt it" She gave it to her any way!! I went to Baycare on S Florida Ave in Lakeland on Wed 4/23/25 with symptoms of flu and a huge quarter sized very painful lump under my nose . I was the only patient in the entire facility which almost makes matters worse. I was seen by a rude check in person then went back to be seen by Chris. I had told him I could not keep down my OTC meds and body aches and some other stomach issues I will leave to the imagination and [[HIGHLIGHT]]Chris asked me if I thought I wanted a flu or Covid test . I told him I didn't know he was the doctor that was why I was there[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I was already in bed for 3 days before I went there . No tests were done for anything . Chris maybe spent 2 minutes with me and told me to put neosporin on the painful inflamed knot under my nose and gave me a list of some OTC meds I could take and he left. I continued to get more and more sick and the knot under my nose continu to grow quickly getting even more painful and going into my lip and up over my face closing my nostrils completely and up into my entire face and completely closing my right eye. It was very painful to say the least . 2 days later when my daughter saw me she freaked out and got me to emergency room at LRMCoff south Florida near 540A where I was diagnosed with severe facial cellulitis and FLU A . I was given breathing treatment about 8 pills while I was there 2 shots in my rump and one in my leg . I was also sent home with 2 antibiotics. I missed an entire week of work and another week with severe pain in my face due to cellulitis . The doctor at LTMC kept me there for 4 hours to see if my face was responding to meds because I was told the cellulitis was on its way to my brain where it could have been life threatening. Chris at Baycare could have given me something to have kept me from getting even more sick than I was but he didn't seem to care and I would not take anyone there for any reason and will tell everyone I know about my experience there . If the Baycare was full and Chris was the only Doctor there maybe I would have felt better he was at least in a hurry but since I was the only patient at the time in the entire building then it's obvious he just did not care. Horrific experience with BayCare BMG West Ophthalmology Suncoast 620 10th Street N St. Petersburg, FL. Staff was friendly, eye examination was standard fare. Paid 40.00 co pay for eye exam. Prior to leaving was up charged 29.00 for the prescription script showing the eye exam results. This "upcharge" was NEVER mentioned and/or explained. Who would expect to be charged extra for the eye exam results. If a doctor prescribes penicillin- who pays for the prescription script. SEE THE ATTACHMENTS as per the federal FTC this is illegal. (Will be filing a formal FTC complaint) Called Bay Care Customer Support to allow them to rectify however they have demonstrated nothing short of ongoing gross incompetence. It's now been over two weeks and they continuously trip over their own feet. Asking for the same information (provided 14 days ago) over and over via their standard e Mail. Certainly the dollar amount does not justify legal action however the principle does. I will be filing a legal complaint against both Bay Care and Bay Care ophthalmology as they should not be able to fleece seniors on their eye exams. One can only wonder how long this fleecing has been occurring. There are other choices available for eye care and exams. I would never recommend this facility to anyone. I visited the Mease Countryside Hospital ED recently and had a great experience. It took only about 15 minutes to get me into a room, another 5 to see a doc, and the doc was great! However, since this is a system, the 5 stars I would give Mease are weighed down by BayCare Oldsmar. My PCP has left BayCare. I visit the doc's about 1x per year and it's only been since June since I saw him. When I got notified he was moving on, I figured I'd just get another doc next year. Then I saw a scrip was coming up for renewal. I left a message on the patient portal. No response. I had CVS send them a message - several, actually - and no response. It appears that when their docs move on, they no longer feel obliged to respond to scrip requests. So, I went into the office. Initially, I approached it as a problem solving issue. Can I get someone to fill the scrip (NOT anything like Oxy, mind you, just headache stuff)? I'm sorry, your doc has left. So, no one can fill my scrip? Not unless you're a patient. So, you're saying I was a patient, but because my doc left I am no longer a patient? You're not their patient. Now this was getting obnoxious. It didn't happen in this short order, as described. It took a bit to figure out that the receptionist wasn't really going to provide solutions, just point out the problems. When I asked why they didn't do something to help patients when one of their docs left, she blamed me! "Notices were sent out in August. Many people set up appointments with new doctors right away and got in by October." I didn't expect her to write me a scrip herself. However, real customer service (if that's what you're after) never places blame or stays stuck on the problem. Real CS starts to seek solutions to the problems. So, when she told me I would have to look for a new doc, I told her I would - and I walked out of the office. Simple fix, BayCare (if you read these): Train your people to respond to such a situation like this: "I'm sorry. Your doctor is gone and we cannot have another doc renew a scrip until they have seen you. I apologize that we didn't respond to your email or CVS' requests. Let's see if we can remedy that. Can I get you the earliest possible appointment? It might be faster if you're able to do a video visit." Kindness, problem solving, no blaming, just human contact with compassion and understanding. The jury is still out, but I probably wouldn't come back if this were my only interaction with BayCare. read more

Terrible health care company. Even though I live in St Pete and have a GP here, when I get ill, even with cancer, I refused to use BayCare (except blood draws) and they can't do that right! My GP doctor is fine but her frontline employees are terrible as are most (not all) I've dealt with at BayCare. I just went for a blood draw today at their St Anthony Hospital Lab and came out in pain and my arm black and blue. I've had blood drawn around the world and the US and the only place that it's been painful, had to be repeated and leaves me black and blue is BayCare. 4 of 5 draws have been terrible.
