One of my favorite lunch places in downtown Oakland. Super clean and everything is FRESH and HEALTHY. A wonderful assortment of large unique salads, smoothies (my fav), some breakfast items (delicious), and even weekly specials, like wonton soup. There is almost always seating left. This business has unfortunately been broken into more than a few times like almost everywhere downtown and they work so hard, please show them some love and visit them sometime. Ok I've tried this place 3 times - I'm done. Ordered a southwest salad w/ no steak. they did add extra avocado and artichoke hearts. I didn't care for the salad dressing so I asked for some ranch dressing - it costs an extra $1.50. Love this place and the customer service. It is a very quaint location so the service is pretty speedy. They have the best shrimp dumpling soup on Fridays. And the salads are very fresh. I got the chicken pesto panini and a Vietnamese iced coffee and let me just say this place did not disappoint! First off, customer service was top tier. I asked for the Vietnamese iced coffee but mentioned I didn't want it super strong. They made it perfectly! It was delicious and gave me just the right kick to keep pushing through my day. The staff was really awesome and gave us a sample of the butternut squash soup, which was flavorful and delicious. We decided to share a couple of salads, the Barcelona and the grilled Salmon Special. Both were very flavorful! The Barcelona had tuna salad, shrimp and spring salad mix with pesto dressing. The grilled Salmon Special was so good with crispy bell peppers, spring salad, bean sprouts. The ambiance was very clean, organized, and there was a good variety of menu options. I am a Baygreens fan! Skip Mixt, and go to Baygreens. It's locally owned and unpretentious. The salads use quality products and they have delicious options. I'm in love with the Kale Chicken Caesar and the anchovy filets elevate this salad! (I've even gotten my mother hooked on this place and pick her up a salad when I order.) I was originally introduced to this place by my friend and coworker and it was only yards away from our workplace. I don't even work at the same place, but I'm still ordering from Baygreens like I still work at the same location! (You can order from Door Dash or order for pickup. ) My mother loves their regular Caesar Salad (with romaine lettuce), the Sesame Salad, and the Cubano Pannini. Today, I got the OakTown Baby Salad, which consists of shrimp, spinach, quinoa, cucumber, pumpkin seeds, jicama, cherry tomatoes, and a avocado cilantro dressing. The ingredients were very fresh and the shrimp was cooked perfectly! I appreciated that my salad wasn't soaking with dressing. It was dressed well, however, I'm not sure that I tasted the avocado or cilantro in the dressing. I enjoyed my salad. However, although it was a large portion of salad, a lot of it was spinach and the other items in the salad were often hidden in the spinach. This place has amazing food, fresh, healthy, friendly and great customer service as well as the masks are very comfortable. I stropped in this morning (10:20 AM) to get a quick breakfast while taking an urban hike. I had seen Baygreens a number of times, as my bank is around the corner. This was my first visit, and likely my last. My first impression was that the person who greeted me at the register, where one orders, would rather have not seen me. There was only one other customer, but she seemed annoyed that I had bothered her by asking to place an order. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and coffee. "Only cold Viet Namese coffee," i was told. No hot coffee. Seems odd for a place open for breakfast. The coffee was delivered to my table after a brief wait, and was pretty good, though obviously pre-made. Why the wait though, when a more alert server could have handed it to me at the register, and helped me feel a bit more welcome? The sandwich took about ten minutes, and was delivered in a small, sealed take-out box, despite my sitting at a table, reading the news on my phone and sipping my coffee. My impression was "What's your hurry? Here's your hat." Unwelcoming at best. At worst was that the sandwich was hugely over-salted, bordering on inedible. I was very hungry, so I downed it. So this place is not cheap but boy is it delicious. I've had the steak, chicken and grilled shrimp and all meats are great though I wish they'd take off the shrimp tails or whatever the ends are called. The ciabatta bread on Yelp's ordering system doesn't seem the same as what they give you (i.e. It doesn't seem like ciabatta) but it's really great amd would recommend getting it. when this place opened for the first couple of months, it was one of my go-to places. However, a couple of months ago, I stopped going there due to an incident that should not have occurred. I ordered a salad, and it had several leaves that were wilted or yellow. I showed it to the person running the cashier (and probably also the manager), and rather than apologizing, she replied defensively and said "we get the salad from the same vendor", and try to shift the blame elsewhere, rather than taking responsibility for the quality of the food. In any other place, the responsible person would have offered some type of compensation and ask what they could do to make up for it. I have been a loyal frequent patron of bay greens for years. They have always made the most delicious, fresh tasting salads/sandwiches. I loved there salads so much that I over looked the girl that's always taking orders at the front being overtly rude and unwelcoming. I have watched her deal with several customers with a smile and as soon as she sees me it turns to a frown. In particular Yesterday! Me and my Family came in from a walk. Total fan. I love these type of places. You know the one: healthy, plenty of options and the availability of making your own salad. Tucked away in Uptown, with some seating, although I'd suggest taking it to go as the place is a bit on the dark side, sits this newly opened fast-casual lunch spot. They have about 6-7 house salads, along with creating your own, 6-7 panini's, a limited breakfast menu, gluten free baked goods and about 4-5 juice options. Sounds good right? I didn't spy any signature salads I liked, so I created my own. It ended up being a bit pricier than I expected (no meat, but the avocado and egg were extra). So a salad with two $$ objects and a few veggies (3-4) ended up being about $13, tax included. The thing was a beast, no doubt behind that, however with limiting people to only 3 free veggies, the salad wasn't that sexy, but it was still real solid. A quick tip to salad preparers - go a bit lighter on the dressing, by the time I got my salad home it was drenched! Baygreens Salads and More is very spacious and clean on the inside, brightly colored orange chairs and tables adjacent black chalkboards on the walls with the menu items lends a relaxed feel. They offer sandwiches/paninis, salads, and of course, fresh squeezed juices. We ordered the Green Brightness plus extra ginger. Normally $7.95 for 18 ounces, they charged an extra .50 for extra ginger, which is totally fine. I am looking forward to returning and getting the chicken pesto panini as well as the alaskan (smoked salmon & cream cheese). Delicious! Came here for lunch on a Friday afternoon. It wasn't too busy, and I didn't have to wait long to receive my food. This is the perfect spot for health nuts, as they have everything from fresh juice to panini's. It's a little on the pricey side, but the quality of the food is definitely worth every $. There are also quite a few places to sit, so dining in is very possible. Nonetheless, I ordered the Kale Chicken Caesar salad (came with Anchovies, which I didn't realize), croutons, Parmesan, and a delicious Caesar dressing. I also snagged a small bag of chips, which brought my total to about $15. I will say, the portions aren't really that large (for the salads), but I was pretty full after finishing my meal. I would say if you are starving, opt for one of the many panini's, as those look to be a little more fulfilling (and cheaper). Not too sure about parking, but this spot is located right by The Athletic Club, and a few other deli's/restaurants. If in the area, check them out. I'm a salad fan so I was sad that I couldn't pick up a salad from here but I was looking for something to quench my thirst so I picked up a banana strawberry spinach smoothie from here. The service was friendly and the smoothie came out relatively quickly. I believe they have someone that is dedicated to making their drinks/smoothies which is cool. wow I know places are truly struggling during Covid, but I'm writing Baygreens off. Vegan salad used to be a pretty reliable order for me. Today I ordered and they forgot dressing (i'd ordered on the side), there were almost zero kelp noodles or peppers - just a mass of spinach, a few chunks of tofu and sprinkles of the rest.
