The room was fine but the free breakfast was pathetic and poorly maintained. A sad assortment of food and ran out and not refilled.

I didn't hear anything from the hallways or adjacent rooms. It was set far back enough from the main road so I didn't hear any traffic noise. The staff were incredibly helpful at check-in and suggested where I should park based on my room's location. I did have some difficulties finding the location, even with GPS, as you can't easily see it from the road. You basically drive through a bank parking lot and it's tucked behind it. There are SO MANY RESTAURANTS nearby to choose from. I honestly don't know what Somerset's about (is it a college town? Something with horses? State capitol?) to need all these restaurants, but I was thankful they were here. It was just a town I was driving through on my way somewhere else. Staff were great, room was ideal, I was spoiled with dining choices, and the morning breakfast bar was perfect. Couldn't ask for anything better.

So this stay was all right as well. I was told that it would automatically populate after making the reservation. I thought I would wing it this time, not write any confirmation down and see what would happen when I reached Somerset. I reach the hotel to check in and they have me on file! Yay! Everything was smooth there. Then, I go to my King bed room and the only issue I have found was the thermostat for the heat pump. There are two bottoms on the bottom and an up and down arrow on the right hand side. From left to the right, the bottom buttons are for fan control and the heating and cooling options (those work fine). It was the arrow buttons that were the nuisance. I had to press them so many time just to get the desired temperature. I am thinking this will need to be replaced soon. At first, I thought the room was going to stay on 69 cold and I was like, "OMG!!" (Right now in Kentucky, it is like super humid and hot outside (even at like 3 a.m. in the morning) and so I need really cool temperatures. My house is at 66 (but that is mostly to keep the centipedes from running amok, they hate cold temperatures).

Just wanted to update on this trip. There were some issues I wanted to keep note of…read more In room 304, the room had green tea and regular tea option, but it did not have both caffeinated and decaffeinated options. For coffee both options were available, but why not the teas? Still, better options than hotels that currently only offer coffees in the rooms (they still have the coffee machine!). The heat pump did not have AC (the cool option would not even turn on). Instead, the machine would switch from heat to fan. In the morning, this made for a hot atmosphere after a shower. Additionally, the digit numbers on the display had numbers that were not full meaning I could not tell a difference between a 68 and a 69. The outlets, wall and on the lamp both did not work. The lamp itself did not work. The bathroom, the light flickers if left on for some time. The water pressure was also a bit odd. So the hot water has different levels of pressure and coming out of the faucet, while the cold water came out slower and with less pressure. This was apparent in both the sink and shower. All these are maintenance issues. Note to self: This hotel does not have the Travel Channel, but does have the History Channel and a good sports channel package with CBSSN, ESPNU, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN U, FS1 and SEC networks.

I took it, but there didn't seem to have any concern. She certainly didn't look surprised. I was told the manager would call me the next day. He did not. I am writing this review with a heavy heart. I really wanted to be able to say more good things…read morebecause it is family run and in some cases they did a really great job. However, overall it was not a great experience. I did not expect a fabulous stay given the reviews I read on yelp prior to my stay, however, as I reflect on what happened, I realize it is the WORST EXPERIENCE IN A HOTEL/MOTEL I HAVE EVER HAD. I am still giving it 2 stars because I am trying to be fair and there are some positives. For context, I went to Liberty, KY from CA to help my dad who has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer alongside other very serious health issues. I had a conversation with the owner/manager about my dad's health situation and he understood what was going on. My dad is barely able to walk and we were in the ER and urgent care twice in my eight-day stay. It would have been 9 days except for a really terrible interaction that I had with the manager (who I think is the owner). Read below for more. Positives: * There is a place to stay in Liberty, KY! * Flexible rental period. I didn't know how long I would be there, so I could rent by the day or every couple of days. The flexibility was great. * The washing machine/dryer worked well. I really needed them! * They helped me on three occasions with unusual requests: I needed a screw driver and a pliers. I was able to borrow them which was epic. Also, I had a dryer load running when I needed to take my dad to the ER. They removed our clothes from the dryer and took them to our room. Thank you for that! * Cold AC!! A must in summer in Liberty. Negatives: * Dirty floors: my feet and socks turned black when I walked on them without shoes. No joke. * Mold: the bathroom had mold on the ceiling above the tub. Other people have posted pictures. It's true. * A few electrical outlets did not work. * No house cleaning during the stay (i.e., trash, bed make-up, changing towels, etc.) * Jekyll & Hyde owner/manager. See below. If you have read this long review, here is the pay off: On two occasions the owner/manager was VERY upset with me. 1) First day I accidentally left my room card inside the room. Around 10.30pm I asked them to open the door for me. The owner/manager was VERY unhappy with me and told me to keep my card in my wallet. 2. The last day my very ill father had a serious case of diarrhea around 10.45pm. There was fecal matter all over the floor. I desperately needed to clean it up or move rooms until I could clean it up. The sign on the office door says "ring bell" between 11pm and 6am or something similar. I did that and the owner/manager was VERY angry with me. He insisted we could deal with it the next day. He was not interested in helping me. (Remember, this person is AWARE that my dad is very sick). I asked him to either a) allow us to move rooms for the night, or b) provide me with the stuff I needed to clean it. In response, he asked strange questions like "do you sleep on the floor? Why does it matter?" When I persisted, he opted to scurry around banging things, looking at me with angry eyes. He returned with a broom and a swiffer-like device with a pad. (I later realized the swiffer device and pad would not connect and were unusable.) I asked him for a disinfectant, which he reluctantly provided. I ended up cleaning the room with bath towels and the disinfectant. The next day I spoke with owner/manager and told him we were leaving a day earlier than expected because of the way he treated us. We had a brief discussion about the situation and he said he had some family issues. I understand family issues, trust me! However, I suggested he should hire someone to manage the property over night so he and his family can sleep peacefully.
