All I can say is ew. Remote was broken and keys sticky. The door stuck so was a bit concerned for my safety since I was on the first floor. There was a drip outside my door. The front staff was nice and there were cookies, but that was about all. The entire hotel could use a refresh, especially the nasty carpet in the rooms. read more

So this stay was all right as well. The flustered front desk gal from the prior review is back! "OMG OMG OMG...need to get situated...hold on." -_- And after I made the reservation, I never received a confirmation receipt. I was told that it would automatically populate after making the reservation. I thought I would wing it this time, not write any confirmation down and see what would happen when I reached Somerset. I reach the hotel to check in and they have me on file! Yay! Everything was smooth there. Then, I go to my King bed room and the only issue I have found was the thermostat for the heat pump. There are two bottoms on the bottom and an up and down arrow on the right hand side. From left to the right, the bottom buttons are for fan control and the heating and cooling options (those work fine). It was the arrow buttons that were the nuisance. I had to press them so many time just to get the desired temperature. I am thinking this will need to be replaced soon. At first, I thought the room was going to stay on 69 cold and I was like, "OMG!!" (Right now in Kentucky, it is like super humid and hot outside (even at like 3 a.m. in the morning) and so I need really cool temperatures. My house is at 66 (but that is mostly to keep the centipedes from running amok, they hate cold temperatures). read more

I observed a hampton inn employee completely embarrass and shame this poor couple for no reason. The man said he was visiting his friend and had stayed there but the lady behind the counter refused him service. He stated he had paid $350 for a 2 night stay booked with a gift card and asked her to please provide anything she could print for him to help him get refunded and she just stood there. When they left she was saying some very nasty things about them and laughing. They seemed very nice and soft spoken and it made me feel horrible for them. I'm a hilton honors member that travels for business but after this will NOT be using this hotel anymore. The woman in question was working alone 5/2/22 around 5 pm. read more

This is my new standard for Ideal Hotel Room. Mattress and pillows were super-comfortable, the mini-fridge wasn't noisy, the shower (cleanliness, water pressure, and heat) were PERFECT. I didn't hear anything from the hallways or adjacent rooms. It was set far back enough from the main road so I didn't hear any traffic noise. The staff were incredibly helpful at check-in and suggested where I should park based on my room's location. I did have some difficulties finding the location, even with GPS, as you can't easily see it from the road. You basically drive through a bank parking lot and it's tucked behind it. There are SO MANY RESTAURANTS nearby to choose from. I honestly don't know what Somerset's about (is it a college town? Something with horses? State capitol?) to need all these restaurants, but I was thankful they were here. It was just a town I was driving through on my way somewhere else. Staff were great, room was ideal, I was spoiled with dining choices, and the morning breakfast bar was perfect. Couldn't ask for anything better. read more

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable but that's all I can say. I recognize that places are short staffed and I can appreciate that but the front desk staff was downright rude every time we had to interact with them. We didn't get the room we paid for because they were overbooked and we booked on Priceline so they wouldn't honor our room. We will have to work that out later with Priceline. Extra pillows? No. Can't do that. The remote control also didn't work and they were extremely rude about it. Also, parking sucks. It's extremely tight. The elevator is also sketchy and the pillows are terrible. The heat/air unit also sounded like popcorn every time it turned on. It was the nosiest unit I've ever seen. I'm a Hilton honors member and this experience has made me want to only stay at Marriott from now on. Extremely disappointed. read more

So, we stay in a fair amount of hotels through the year. In the last few weeks we have stayed in Hamptons because Marriott was getting old... in comparing the two not a lot of change. The appearances of this hotel are acceptable but not above expectations. The staff is friendly with hellos as you pass them, the room rate was helpful as we are in town with a very sick relative. Things I'm not very happy with are little but annoying and when confronting the front desk though having an excuse really felt like nothing will change...that's why 3 stars. Would have done 2 1/2 stars. Night light in bathroom doesn't work, walls are very thin (lots of doors slamming), very high ceilings (room echoes), being on first floor is no good (hear cars outside), the most frustrating one hands down the swipe keys don't work the first 5 times at back nor of hotel nor at the doors (expressed concern but front desk just shrugged it off). So over all not a bad stay but not a 3 1/2-4 star hotel. 2-3 star at best. Just know what your getting before throwing down the coin. read more

In the genre of moderately priced hotel chains, this Hampton Inn really knocked my socks off. When we checked in, we were greeted by the sweetest, charming-est, gregarious-est lady ever. Her name was Margaret. It's been a week, and I still remember her name. This is a woman who has found her calling in life. Cookies when you check in, full hot breakfast in the mornings, spacious and immaculate rooms. The fitness center is on the small side. We were told that you could run or walk through the little subdivision behind the hotel, but the morning clerk wasn't really able to give us directions. We should have asked Margaret when we had the chance. I bet she would have known. read more

I travel a LOT and I did not expect much in this small town. I was wrong. This Hampton inn was one of the best ones I have stayed at. Recently my stays have been at Hilton Garden Inns and unfortunately an issue arose at every one. Here the welcome was friendly, professional, and thanked me for my Diamond status. The hotel was exceptionally clean and my room smelled fresh. Sounds like the usual espectations? Yes, but lately that has not been the case. The hotel industry is not the same. Here every area has been well maintained here. And the breakfast was above average too. The lady at the front desk in the mornings is 5 star. read more

I've stayed at a lot of Hilton-family owned hotels and resorts...and usually I have less than pleasant experiences with Hampton Inn locations, so I wasn't exactly looking forward to my week at the Somerset KY Hampton Inn. But the staff at this location really work hard and do a great job to make the sorts of personal gestures that make guests comfortable. Personal follow-up from the housekeeping staff, for example. The front desk staff were more competent than I've ever experienced at Hampton locations. The hotel was clean and safe (public spaces and individual rooms), recently updated, well-appointed (for a Hampton Inn - they don't typically have an in-house restaurant just continental / semi-hot style breakfast), especially in terms of free wifi for all guests (not just Hilton Honors), free breakfast (expected items available, but food was a hell of a lot better, consistently, than at any of the other Hampton Inns I've visited in the last five years), warm cookies in the evening, a ton of outlets and even three USB charging stations in my room, mini fridge / microwave / iron, fairly tolerable hair dryer, laundry, and indoor pool. Lights (including the nightlight in the bathroom) were in places that made sense, as were outlets. Bed was comfy. Even the pool wasn't too bad after the kids went to bed. Thermostat worked. Curtain covered the window and blocked out light and limited parking lot noise. No plumbing problems, in-exhaustible hot water. Only downside I noted was bathroom venting is passive (not on a switch), but the shower-related humidity seemed to clear up pretty quickly. And mama likes her hot showers. Ceilings on the first floor are extra-high, which definitely makes the rooms seem larger...the downside being that the rooms tend towards damp (particularly during stormy season from spring to early fall, I'd wager) pulling through the concrete. Location is set back from 27...If you're on 27 headed into Somerset proper (towards "downtown" LOL.), you're going to take a left at the light just before Aldi. I tend to seek out Hilton hotels when traveling and was NOT disappointed with my experience here! The rooms are very pretty due to a recent revamp. Parking lot is pretty well lit and we were able to park right underneath the window to our room. Free breakfast with your stay. It ranges from oatmeal and gravy and biscuits to eggs and bacon or cereal. They even have a waffle maker for you gluten eating folks! Everyone here is very nice (including Tim the GM who helped us greatly) and I will definitely be back next time I'm in Somerset! We had a great time at Somernights! read more

I've never been big on writing reviews, good or bad. But felt compelled to share this. First of all I would like to say that the rooms were very clean and the breakfast was very good as well. But it's always the personal touches from people that elevate the stay to excellent. To keep it short, we arrived in Somerset at 2 AM to be with a family member in the hospital. Later that morning I called the Hampton Inn, I spoke with Debbie and explained the situation and asked for an early check-in for three rooms. She immediately said she would have them ready and "come get some rest". Wow! Compassion and understanding already!?!? Under the circumstances she charged me no additional. Other hotels said that an extra charge was a possibility.... Also Debbie and Hampton Inn policy gave me a special rate without even asking for it! Lastly, we had an unhappy ending at the hospital and it was time to go. She asked me one morning how is everything going. I told her and her words were kind but the actions ensuing were even kinder. On our way out she gave us a sweet personal card, kind words, and a very nice goodie bag with personalized drink and snacks for the trip home. Again, WOW! It's Extraordinary things done for ordinary people that made the stay amazing! On our way home, we stopped at the Biltmore in Ashville, and yes, I searched and stayed at a Hampton Inn and will continue to always do that. Thank you Debbie and staff!!!! read more

Very well kept hotel, and more options than your usual Hampton Inn. They had complimentary dinner downstairs the night we arrived and also offered beers at a lower price for a happy hour. Staff is always super attentive and I had a great night's sleep which usually never happens when I'm at a hotel for business. Internet is also super easy to connect to and stays connected. This Hampton inn was alright. I expected it to have a restaurant but it didn't. My room was pretty standard - had a TV, fridge, coffee machine, etc. The A/C in the room looked new - you could actually set the temperature instead of those old ones with the nob. Free wifi. I lived here after moving back to somerset while I was waiting to find a house. The staff is wonderful ( except Ashley) . The pool is always clean and the breakfast is wonderful. Chris is the greatest ever , no matter what kind of question I had he was always helpful. The rooms are very clean, as well as the hallways and outside landscaping and parking lot . I can not think of anything negative about the hotel ( besides Ashley) except maybe that it took three days to fix the pop machine on the second floor however there are more than one pop machine. read more
