I am sorry that I have to leave a negative review when we had positive past experiences. My bad…read moreexperience started when I called about getting in early and was told she was in the middle of serving breakfast for 24 and would have to get back with me. That was just the beginning of the unprofessionalism. No apology, just short. The last time we had stayed in the Froggy cabin, it was not split into two cabins. Not knowing this, I just rented the one side. We had to walk through the bedroom to get to the one bathroom, day and night. We would not have rented the cabin if we knew it had one bathroom, especially since one guest is pregnant. When I called about it, I couldn't believe the non professional handling of the situation. I was told they cabin had always been that way and I was wrong. Not true! They split it the winter after we had stayed in 2021. Things would have turned out so differently if it had been handled professionally instead of confrontational. The adjacent cabin was not being rented for the next two nights and could have been offered to us at a discounted rate, but they were willing to not make any money on the empty side, plus disappoint us. We made it work with what we had and then on our last night, the adjacent cabin was rented. They must have had control of the thermostat (who would split cabins and have one thermostat?!) The bedroom and upstairs loft were so hot and stuffy! Two infants, as well as the parents, did not sleep well that night! You could hear their voices and cooking at 12:30, which they have the right to do, but we have the right not to hear it. I tried to work something out with the owner, but to no avail. I did receive a call asking me to accept an apology from the person I spoke with on the phone. (She manages to get one more confrontation in on this call!) My daughter in law's family spent thousands of dollars between the cabins and Mont Rest, but not again. So sad something could not have been worked out.

Dear YELP Readers,…read more This is what I wrote to Ramona of Le Fevre Inn and Resort in Galena IL after the 4 Sista Girls Spent a wonderful Weekend retreat there !!!! The Sista Girl Club Can't Wait to Go BACK to LeFevre Inn & Resort and Galena given it's awesome scenic, quaint, friendly, and culturally diverse surroundings. It started about 6 months out when the owner Ramona responded to my many inquiries quickly and with great suggestions and discounts. We actually spent Friday, October 6 through Sunday, October 8th, 2017 there which was in the middle of the County Fair which was an unexpected added bonus. The ~ 3 hour drive was priceless as we drove up to paradise. The photos don't give it justice; the Gazebo, Pavilion, outdoor fire pit, indoor fire place, and our all equipped cozy inn with the cute balcony and "BAR" : that's another story for another time ;) and private parking was more than accommodating. Even the cloudy, misty, partly sunny, 60 to 70 degree weather didn't deter the four of us from having a great time. The quick easy 2 x a day drive into Galena downtown was full of wonderful surprises starting with Denise and our highly recommended Tri-State Trolley one hour tour back into Historical time and our driver/tour guide Johnny was full of character, fun facts, and great stories. Shopping at Poopsies for sum thin sum thin you never thought you would want; you'll get IT when you get there;was hilarious and the sales people jumped in to make us feel HAPPY and the discounts were priceless. Brunch at tasty Las Aztecas and Dinner at the Famous Fried Green Tomatoes was fabulous with quick friendly, service, cozy welcoming ambience, plenty of food, and huge variety of drinks. Twice we just had to stop and return to Galena's River Wine and Cheese where owners Bryon and Julie and the gang treated us special; great free tasting of wine, cheese, olive oils, dips...specially made. We did leave a lil sum thin sum thin behind for y'all to purchase. We will be back and I'm preparing my Sista Girl Scrapbook to share our experience with our family and friends. Love and Hugs, Sistas Belinda/Heart, Sheila/Free, Darlene/Sunshine, and me, Linda "Too Tall"/Happy I would love to try and take advantage of your very generous offer...I will pass this along to the other Sista Girls to see if they can afford it. I may need to pass since I have to pay for a destination wedding in 6 months...for a friend :) Love and Many Hugs, Sista Linda Too Tall Happy PS: Have also shared the Good/G-D news on Trip Advisor too.

It is simply wonderful. My wife and I have been going to Galena several times a year for over 20 years. This is hands down the the best place we have stayed and the best restaurant in the area. I would go as far to say one if the best hotels/Inns I have stayed in, in my life. I travel over 100 nights a year. I have been to 22 different countries and 47 states. It is one of the best. All this and it's only a short 2.5 hour drive from Chicago! I see some cheap people give negative reviews. Please stay away!

The highlight of our stay was, without question, the breathtaking scenery. If you're looking to escape city lights and reconnect with nature, this place delivers. The night sky was absolutely incredible--we could see the Milky Way with the naked eye! That alone made the trip worthwhile and is something we'll never forget. The accommodations themselves were very comfortable and thoughtfully equipped. Our room featured a spacious layout with a private balcony, a relaxing jacuzzi tub, and convenient kitchenette amenities including a microwave, sink, and mini fridge. We especially appreciated the towel warmer and plush robes, which added a touch of luxury. Another standout feature was the option to book on-site massages. We chose a massage during our stay and it was fantastic--the perfect complement to a relaxing weekend. There were, however, a few disappointments. One was the fireplace, which was advertised as an in-room amenity but had been turned off for the summer season. While we understand the reasoning, it would have been helpful to know this beforehand. We were also disappointed to discover, only on our last day through a brochure, that guests can apparently dine at the Chef's Table and watch meals being prepared in the kitchen. We had attempted to order food the evening before but were told they were fully booked. Had we known about this experience earlier, we would have made arrangements ahead of time. The biggest concern during our stay was the water. The water had a strong stagnant odor that became noticeable throughout our visit. When we inquired, we were advised to run the water for a while. Unfortunately, after letting both the bathroom and jacuzzi water run for approximately 20 minutes, the odor not only remained but seemed to worsen. For a property at this price point, this is an issue that should be addressed rather than dismissed. Would we stay here again? Possibly--especially for the stunning views and peaceful atmosphere. However, it would be much easier to justify if the price were lower or if the water issue were resolved. The incredible night sky and charming accommodations created a memorable experience, but for the cost of the stay, guests should not have to deal with concerns about the water quality. Overall, a beautiful property with unique amenities and unforgettable scenery, but there are some areas where attention to detail and guest communication could make a significant difference.

We couldn't find door 9 which was frustrating late at night with no one to call. It was the only door inside another door where both 9&10 were. Once in the room someone else's food was in the fridge. We needed the fridge to put food in and had no choice to put our food in a fridge that was not cleaned out. The fridge and A/C tan all night and that bothered my husband. The rest of the room looked clean, the beds were pretty comfortable. You have to remember your at an older motel, so it was dated. The other issue was in the morning a big dog ran at me growled and barked. I'm very nervous with dogs I don't know. The owner did not pick up on the fact that the dog terrified me... he just said no but did not grab the dog. Despite those things I do feel as though Arthur tries to make you comfortable, he apologized for the food in the fridge. It is quaint and it's beautiful hill country. I also learned the next morning that he drew a map on the envelope for where to find our room. I would have appreciated if he had described it over the phone. I can see the effort that was made. They do bring you coffee and cream in the morning and we were brought cookies. Having a fridge that was not cleaned out led me to wonder how well everything else is cleaned. I don't mind dated as long as it's clean and comfortable. There's room for improvement.
