A dressed po-boy usually does not include ketchup, but they like it here. I ordered mine with no ketchup, add pickles. Really? You gotta ask for pickles? Whatever- it's a GOOD sandwich!! I had fish on a bun (a full po-boy is a lot!) with tater tots and a couple of boudin balls. The sandwich has the perfect combination of lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, but could use a couple more pickles. The tater tots are perfectly crispy, as is the fish in the sandwich. The boudin balls are not great. Not too spicy, but the meat/rice mixture is a bit "creamy" and odd. A bit of a turn-off for me. Counter service is great - very friendly and helpful. When you order, they will tell you what "dressed" means (so you don't get surprised by having ketchup), and will repeat your order back to you to be sure it's right. And relatively quick, too. I didn't sample the plate lunch, but it looks good. Next time I'm in this area, I'll be back. Skip the boudin balls, come for the po-boys. It's worth it!! read more

Well, what is there to say?! I love Po Boys sandwiches. So, we headed to this place to get Po boys for dinner. The inside had a few small tables and then about four or five picnic tables outside. The roast beef is deli sliced roast beef, which I'm a huge fan of, although it was lacking roast beef big time. There was little to no roast beef on my poboy, but the flavor was outstanding. Fries are good, a large order is a little bit much for one person. My dad says the shrimp poboy was "alright" that he wouldn't get it again-I don't know if I would believe him. $31 for 2 large meals, no fountain drinks...bottled or canned drinks. I just moved to town from Seattle and was on the hunt for a good po'boy for lunch. Read a bunch of local reviews on Yelp and Bayou Blue sounded like the place for me - I was not disappointed. The place is outside town, not far, but I made a few wrong turns trying to find it on the country highway. Thankfully, with it being right beside the road, it is hard to miss when you actually come up to it. The place was small and clean, felt very 'mom-and-pop-ish'. Friendly counter staff, who were patient with me while I stared jaw-open at all the options on the menu. I had heard tons of great things about the roast beef, but I was looking for something slightly less wet. At the recommendation of the lady behind the counter, I ordered a half-shrimp, half-oyster, po'boy with all the fixin's, minus ketchup. I also ordered one meat and one crawfish meat pie, out of curiosity. The po'boy was everything I hoped for. I ordered it takeout and everything was clearly made to order, as it took a few minutes, but then was still steaming hot and delicious when I bit into it at home, about 10 minutes away. Both the shrimp and oysters were steaming hot inside their crispy-fried coatings and the bread was soft and warm. Everything I was hoping for and craving! The meat pies were slightly disappointing. They definitely seemed home-made, but the meat was ground so small and the veggie-mix in each was so bold, it tasted a bit too much like a cole-slaw pie. The temperature was a bit off as well, making me wonder if they had maybe been microwaved by the kitchen to help ensure they were ready when my po'boy was done. I am definitely coming back to Bayou Blue to try out the wet roast beef and to enjoy more of their po'boy selections - it was a very positive experience and I'm not sure I need to try to many other local sandwich shops. I don't think I'd order the meat pies again, but that is just fine; after all, the name of the shop says it all. read more

For years I've heard about how good their roast beef Po boys were so when our favorite Po boy place (BJs Cajun Kitchen) was demolished by hurricane Ida we gave it a try. We went at noon when they were the busiest. Everyone was nice and it ran quickly to order and smoothly. Wait for roast beef and fried shrimp Po boys was about 18 mins. The onion rings were delicious , the large fry was small and not my favorite. My sons loved their shrimp Po boys. The roast beef was good, but didn't beat my favorite. Absolutely 100% delicious! We had a catered lunch with an assortment of poboys. We had shrimp, ham & cheese, hamburger, club and roast beef. The bread was so soft and fresh and they were all dressed with tons of meat and toppings. And we got the pecan bread pudding and let me tell you how fantastic that was. It looked and tasted amazing. Once again, Yelp saved me from a mediocre lunch. On the way to visit my family I was starving. I checked Yelp thinking there was no way I'd find anything. Houma is a very small town. Not many active Yelpers there. I was surprised to see my friend Joel had reviewed this little place. Sure, it only had two reviews, but I know if Joel gave it five stars it had to be special. It was. Bayou Blue PO Boys is probably Houma's best kept secret. I visit very often and had never even heard of it. It's small and unassuming. You wouldn't even notice it if you weren't looking for it. But you should be looking for it. I had a roast beef poboy and a crawfish pie. Umm. Yum. That poboy was sooooo good. I intended to split it with my sister but ate the whole thing myself. Oops. I was stuffed afterwards so I saved the crawfish pie and had it for dinner. If something you order at noon and reheat at six is still oh my goodness sooo freaking good...that's saying something. Driving from Biloxi, MS to Lake Charles, LA, we decided to grab a lunch and found this fantastic little gem on Yelp. Great food! Had the roast beef poboy - sloppy and delicious - just as it should be and made to perfection. We shared an order of onion rings that came to us hot, crispy, and really good! On the day we ate there, we discovered as we were leaving, they closed at 2:30 pm that day which was about the the time we arrived! No one even mentioned it and the owner was very, very friendly. Everything the other reviewers say about this place is spot on. It a hole in the wall (but then those are my favorite places) and the food is really great. I too had the roast beef po boy and it hardly qualifies as a sandwich. It definitely requires a knife and fork unless you want to be wearing it - it is a delicious mess.
