Called in ahead to ask if I could trade in some decent size pond goldfish. Was told I could, dropped fish and picked out a few new ones, asked what my credit was and was told by owner he wouldn't give me anything, maybe a dollar each on the basis he had some goldfish already, when questioned on the difference of his much smaller and more common goldfish where he pretty much dismissed it. If it had been earlier in the day I would have taken them back but had no where to bring them at that point. He was a bit rude and deceitful and bc of it we won't be returning. This same review was posted onto google where instead of trying to smooth things over they decided to call me a liar on public platform and tell me I should be more courteous to a small business who is rude and deceives their cliental. what a joke... read more

Do not support this pet store with the purchase of an animal. The puppy i bought was infested with worms to the point that Spencer was on death's door for 72 hours within days of me getting him home from the store. I've since read other reviews on this store and i am not the only person to have had the same thing happen to the pet we bought. To support a store that supports terrible breeders is wrong. These kinds of places need to be put out of business. Supporting these businesses only continues the cruelty to the animals in their care. Bayou pets sales sick pets.. I purchased a cockatail back in March 2, 2021 and she had respiratory infection after taking her home we realized that her he'd was down and with problems breathing so we rush her to the Avian veterinary Hospital and the veterinarian said that Lilly had a respiratory infection. She start getting treatments right away and many many times I have to rush her to the animal hospital she passed away on April 12, 2021. I was told that she eat on her own, that was a lie, the employees says that she also was very healthy but it was another lie. I not only have to feed her but also deal with taking her twice a week to the veterinarian hospital because she was gasping for air in the middle of the night. I have to leave her at the hospital and comeback I expended sousands of dollars trying to save her life and finally she die a month later. read more

I purchased a turtle that was said to be able to exist with my other turtle and the one I got from Florida shipped is doing very well and his new companion since the one I bought from this location died after a week, I was told it could be sleep. Don't buy long term pets from here. read more

DO NOT PURCHASE ANIMALS FROM THESE PEOPLE. every time i got an animal from them, they were either sick and died in my care in a matter of a week or i got an animal and was sworn i'd get the paper work but it's been over 5 months and i still havent gotten a single thing. So, We have been busy and I know I am late with this, but there is a sad sad story I want to share with all of you. Christmas Eve we decided to purchase a Chameleon for our son and for us as well as a new family pet. So since I was close I decided to get it from Bayou Pets in Norco/Destrahan Louisiana. I was excited to bring it home and see the look on Kristians face for although I fish and hunt we are animal lovers. We bring this Chameleon home and we all fell in love with him. Kristian decides to name him link which it was his choice even though the wife and I were like ehhhh! So a couple of days go by and Link seems to not be responding well. We keep an eye on him and notice he is not improving. Let me stop there by saying Bayou Pets charged 100.00 for him when everyone else charges 65-75.00 for a Veiled Chameleon. On top of that lies to me by saying the only cage he will ever need is the one they sold me. I spent a total of over 400.00 that day. Now back to story so the next day we take Link to an exotic vet and the only one here at that! Come to find out she lied it wasn't a baby it wasn't full grown but wasn't a baby either. Links results were that he had MBD metabolic bone disease. They determined he had it for months and it was caused by improper care for the animal and not being fed correctly. He was directly pronounced in critical condition. So we get sent home with meds, liquid diets etc. We sacrifice everything and monitor his every movement around the clock. Since the day after Christmas we have to put him in a small heated tank, have to shove a syringe in his mouth for a month to feed him calcium, liquid diet, water etc.... Our son was in tears as so were we. He has no use of his legs and is very weak. He cannot climb nor open his mouth he just played there for a month helpless while we nurtured him. I contact owner of Bayou Pets via message on Facebook and she covers herself by not responding and still refuses to communicate with us. Come to find out on Facebook she had several complaints, complaints that miraculously dissapeared recently. The only thing she told me was that her employees Breeds them at home and she sells them to make a buck. And no breeding license! We brought him to the vet 2 weeks ago for another check up and he was getting slightly stronger he was neglected by Bayou Pets and got so ill that the vet said it could take up to 6 months for him to get better if he survives it at all and he will never be the same regardless. Sad to say today after 1 month he was found not responding. Bayou Pets thinks this is a game . I know they just get away with it but I want everyone to share this and get the message out. This place doesn't deserve to sell animals. They only care about money! My wife is now rushing Link to vet because he is barely breathing. Do not get your dog groomed here! We asked for a Schnauzer cut, but told the groomer to deal with matts by shaving them. My Mini Schnauzer was shaved completely and was cut badly enough to prompt the groomer to super glue it shut. When my mother called to help me (I was at work when this occurred) they were rude and hung up on her. I went when I got off and the groomer offered no reimbursement or remorse. I have never encountered a person who works with animals and is yet so cold and nonchalant about injuring them. read more

A year ago we purchased a Pomeranian from bayou pets for $800. From the get go he would have ups and downs with his mood and appetite. They day after we bought him he woke up weak and having diarrea so we took him to the vet. He had coccidia so we assumed the blood tests and weakness were abnormal due to diarrhea. We would wake up and he wouldn't be able to move. We kept taking him to the vet countless times and spent thousands of dollars on his treatments. I called bayou pets a few times to try to talk to the owner about what was going on but the people who answered the phone either didn't relay my messages or the owner didn't want to call me back. He always had abnormal blood work but we couldn't figure out what was wrong. His breath started to smell terrible so we wanted to bring him in for a teeth cleaning because we were sure that he had some messed up teeth from being such a small dog. He was supposed to get about 3.5 lbs but he never got heavier than 2 lbs 11 oz. When we did the kidney panel to see if he would make it through anesthesia for the teeth cleaning it revealed that he had kidney failure and other blood test showed his levels were down by 10% from the original low levels we had gotten 8 months back when he was waking up weak. My vet said this is definitely a congenital issue. Also he had a soft spot on his head that never closed and his testicles never dropped which would have also caused a lot of problems in the future. Unfortunately my poor baby didn't have much of a future because he passed away due to the kidney failure. I went to bayou pets the day he passed to talk to the owner about getting some compensation since most pet sellers guarantee congenital issues. I waited till he was done with helping all of his customers and while I was waiting I had asked the girl working what their guarantee was on the dogs. She said "he told me that if its something they were born with that its our fault and we would cover it but if you take the dog home and it gets sick then it's your fault and were not liable" so I said "so if they're born with it you cover it forever?" She said "yes but I mean look at these dogs they're healthy" so I said ok and continued to wait. When I finally got to talk to the owner and I started to explain what happened I started to cry and the owner Brian gave me this freaked out look and started to back away. He said "well what do you want me to do?" I explained how we had taken him to the vet multiple times and how it was a congenital issue and he said "you gotta know when you buy animals that this kind of stuff can happen!" And my boyfriend told him that expected him to live longer than a year and the guy said "well you can drop dead right now!" So I told the owner that we had a rough day and his attitude was not necessary and he just kept being defensive and saying he would just have to think about giving me my money back. So I gave him copies of my paper work and vet bills and he was supposed to call me back the following week. Well low and behold I never got a call back so when I called back the other owner answered and said that their vet (belle terre) said that they don't have to cover it of its been over 3 days of purchase. Now I don't know who's vet has the authority to tell a buisness what their policy is but that was their excuse. Never once was he apologetic or did he show any sympathy so I knew he didn't want to give me my money back. He doesn't care about the unhealthy dogs that he is selling or about his customers he just wants to make money! No one would have guessed that he had kidney problems just 3 days into owning him. No one gets a full kidney panel during their new puppy check up! He is selling unhealthy dogs with no guarantee because I'm sure this is a recurring thing and he doesn't want to lose money over it. Every morning since we got him would be ridden with anxiety of if he was going to be ok today or if we would have to take him to the vet again. Don't let this happen to you or anyone you know. Don't buy pets from bayou pets. He's getting dogs from bad breeders which only leads to problems in the long run. When you pay $800 for a dog you expect to have a guaranteed long living healthy family member but apparently that's not what you get at bayou pets. read more

Horrible owner! Horrible dog breeders! I purchased a Pomeranian (which they claim to specialize in) and the first week he had problems. We fell in love with the little guy so fast that we were doing anything to keep him healthy/alive. We ended up with thousands of dollars worth of vet bills and months later our little buddy passed. It breaks my heart that we had to bury our boy after only 3 weeks of having him. I thought I could reach out to the business we purchased him from and possibly get even a partial refund in order to purchase/adopt another puppy for our family.Bayou pets truly showed their character in our email conversations. Insinuations were made that we were at fault because they "generally shouldn't trust families with children to purchase from them". They were only willing to consider hearing us if we were to dig up our puppy and obtain an autopsy. Bayou Pets also made claims that "puppies don't just suddenly die"-- any animal lover would know that sudden death in puppies is indeed a possibility due to multiple possible issues such as breeding issues, etc. This week has been filled with such heartache, we will continue to look in to adopting and hope that anyone considering Bayou Pets for a family pet purchase be aware that we are apparently one of many families that have had to go through the sudden death of a puppy in less than 3 weeks time with no compassion from the business in which they were purchased. read more
