(Ok so maybe it was more like going for a chocolate fix next door at Bayou Chocolate because of my sweet tooth). Serendipity Designer Jewelry is located in Monroe's Northgate Shopping Center on Forsythe and 18th Street. The storefront is spacious and bright, with most of the interior walls painted white, with hints of black accents and designs. It has a very modern look and feel, as are the jewelry and accessories on display throughout the the boutique. Serendipity carries a diverse selection of exclusive jewelry from world designers like Pandora, Alex and Ani, Ronaldo, Virgins Saints and Angels, Brighton, Uno de 50 and Mariana. In addition to jewelry, a limited selection of handbags and shoes are available. Expect to be greeted with a modern and elegant feel, along with nothing but the utmost charming Southern hospitality from the staff. On my handful of visits, the staff have always been helpful, but unobtrusive so you can leisurely browse through everything. At first it was overwhelming not knowing where or how to start because of all the shines and sparkles, and so I gradually made my way around the whole store. I was surprised to find a small sale section in the back corner with stellar deals on jewelry, and I definitely found a few items of interest. I also purchased a gorgeous versatile handbag with handles and an adjustable strap that could be adjusted to two different lengths. I found a Ronaldo bracelet I really wanted but they did not have my wrist size, so I had them order one for me without any problems. Sign up on their list and receive future store credits from all your purchases. No matter the special occasion or once in a blue moon splurge gift for yourself, you will be sure to find something at Serendipity. Prices are mostly affordable, but some of the more luxury jewelry pieces are expensive. An added perk is the lovely complimentary gift wrapping. Go visit Serendipity and you'll end up falling in love with a shiny and sparkly treasure!

Two months ago, only brought partial order of my monthly water (autodrafted my card for full amount of course). I called and was told they were shorthanded and they'd try to get over there next week. Never happened. Last month, they took all my empty bottles and left ZERO WATER. Again, charged my card for full price. I called a total of four times trying to get water delivered for the month. Every time, I was told someone would drop it off within a few days. Never happened. I am paying my housekeeper to go to the self-serve water store down the road, and refilling my water all month. Since they took all but the bottle that was inside, I have had to refill the bottle several times. And last but not least, I get next month's water bill yesterday. Again, for full price. They know I haven't had water in 6 weeks. Nobody cares. I called and cancelled my account. I asked for a refund, which the girl says "no we won't do that". No problem, I will just reverse the charge with citibank. Finally the girl puts me on hold for several minutes....now they say they will mail me a check. Right. Can't seem to keep your promise to bring water, but I will get a check in the mail. Literally lost a life-long customer over this stuff. And I found out it's not so bad going to refill my own water bottles, when you have several empty ones to refill. Much cheaper too.

The Cairo was sunk in 1862 in the Yazoo River and lay forgotten until it was raised in 1964, revealing a time capsule of life aboard a Union gunboat. The restored vessel is a formidable testament to 19th-century engineering & military strategy. Inside the museum we saw an array of artifacts recovered from the Cairo displayed, including personal items of the crew, naval armaments & the ship's massive steam engines. Exhibits detail the Cairo's role in the river campaigns of the Civil War, its sinking by an electrically detonated mine, and the incredible salvage operation. This museum educates about the technical and military aspects of the era and tells a compelling story of innovation, warfare, and preservation.

American history can sometimes be thought of as dull, but I think the people who believe that lack the ability to imagine a time different than they live in. What the shipwrights had to do to create this vessel, and then consider the soldiers that served on it and the accommodations they put up with to defend our country this is just incredible. Very few today could've dealt with this type of environment. Take a few moments and close your eyes and imagine the life of a soldier on an iron side boat. This exhibit is well laid out, but it is what you make of it. Well worth the experience.

I graduated with my BA from Tech in 2012 and my MA in 2014, and with this being my first visit to Ruston since then, we booked this hotel for our anniversary trip (was supposed to be in Boston, but Covid happened). This hotel wasn't here back in the day, and it is really a beautiful place to stay. The staff is friendly, and the housekeepers are extremely cordial and will do everything to make your stay the best possible. That said, we booked our stay as titanium members and hoped to get an upgraded room since that's what the status entails. Instead, we were placed in a small room with a tiny closet and two drawers to store clothes for six days. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. Lots of additional storage opportunities could have happened - especially under the bathroom sink, a larger chest of drawers, and under the bed. It appears the designers missed the mark there. We were also told housekeeping would come by every third day. It didn't happen. We had to ask housekeeping to come by on our fourth day to freshen the room. The gym has a lot of towels, so my husband would grab towels there and bring them to our room. The front desk staff was also mediocre. They were friendly here and there but mostly seemed uninterested. I stayed at the Hampton with my parents when they visited me while I was at Tech, and that hotel offers larger rooms and better storage if staying for several days. Part of me wishes we had stayed there for the sake of ample storage. If you're staying a night or two, the room is just right. The other thing we didn't care for was the mattress. My husband and I like our beds FIRM, and this one was way too soft. The on-site laundry room has two washers and two dryers, and it was pretty hectic trying to do laundry when others were using the machine as well. All of that said, I would stay here again but not for a long length of time (unless I paid for a larger room). We noted it was our anniversary, and nothing was said upon checkin - and we weren't given a larger room, even though we had a high status as Marriott members. Those factors, plus the lack of storage, are why I didn't give a full five stars. I do hope this hotel does well since the only other good one in town is the Hampton. The location of this Courtyard is prime, and you're within five minutes of downtown, Tech, and restaurants.

I have been calling for 4 days trying to talk to Jessica the manager and no call back.

Walking into my king suite at the Hampton Inn felt like re-entering civilization. Clean room, fresh air, everything working--just a shocking concept after what I had just endured. No mystery stains, no "what died in here?" aroma, no lingering sense that I might leave with a new, unnamed medical condition. And the breakfast? Actual food. Real, edible, recognizable food. Not the kind of experience where you question your life choices halfway through a bite and start mapping the nearest exit. Compared to the situation in Vidalia, this was basically Michelin-star dining. If you're staying anywhere near Natchez, do yourself a favor and just book the Hampton Inn. Skip the other spots unless you're specifically looking for a haunted house experience or a historic B&B where you might accidentally become part of the family. Here, you get a full, clean, modern setup--and most importantly, peace of mind that no one is going to touch your stuff, your food, or your immune system. Final verdict: Hampton Inn = sanity restored. Clarion Suites in Vidalia = never again, not even under witness protection.

Wonderful customer service, unlike the lady working when we checked out today 4/26/26 11:30am. The lady working today needs to be sent to a customer service course asap. You should NEVER bitch about something another employee did to help a customer, TO a customer! She was loud and obnoxious and condescending, unlike very sweet and accommodating Brenda who checked us in and gave us a room facing the river instead of the autobooked room on the back side. Corporate, take note. Brenda should NOT be the one in trouble here. I don't care what your rate policies are, Brenda is the great employee and better not be in trouble for what she did that was above and beyond!
