I had the meatloaf with macaroni and cheese, pinto beans and turnip greens. The meatloaf was terrible. It had very little sauce on it and it was overdone and dried out. The sides were good. My husband and I travel for a living, and we often choose Cracker Barrel because the food, for the most part, is consistent from store to store. What isn't consistent? The service. When I tell you that this Cracker Barrel is stand out, it's not an exaggeration. From the moment we walked in the door, we were greeted by Michael. His attention to detail, and charming personality make him the perfect front man. Our server was Tiffany and she was being shadowed by Alyssa who is still in training. These beautiful women went above and beyond to make sure everything was exactly like it needed to be. They were patient with my nephew who struggles with some mental disabilities and helped him create a meal based off the things he just really wanted. My husband wishes he could've hired all three of them to come work for our business! After talking with the manager, Kissmick, it's no wonder this restaurant is run the way it is. The team that's been created under her leadership is worth the drive to experience! My first time at a Cracker Barrel. I was expecting good southern food with large portions and that's exactly what I got. Chicken fried steak, grits, eggs, biscuits and gravy. Oh boy, was it good and for the money, best value I have ever received. I would have gladly paid twice the price for my delicious breakfast and not batted an eye. My waitress seemed a little slow but her co workers picked up the slack for her and seemed happy to do so. The country store was fun too. Picked up some real nice gifts to to take back to California. I had to add a review to let you know that I was waited on by a young man named James. He was one of the best servers I have ever had at any restaurant. He went over and beyond the call of duty to make sure I was waited on promptly and professionally. I had to tip him $20.00! Also, I ordered the grilled catfish and it was cooked to perfection. Went here on Thanksgiving after traveling 6hrs+ to get home and didn't have a family gathering to go to. They had a limited menu which we totally understood. We ordered chicken and dumplings. They were packed and the servers were doing their best to a point. Maybe they were disgruntled for having to work. It took FOREVER to get our food and when we did it was cold, like it sat in the window for a half hour before the server decided to bring it to us. I say that because our server was in and out the kitchen a lot and coming out empty handed several times. This place used to be a good restaurant but has gone downhill over the years. This was my first time back in Cracker Barrel in at least 15 years. It was a mixed bag of pros and cons. We were greeted by a very friendly cashier at the retail counter, but the host who seated us rolled his eyes and cursed audibly. Our server Ashley did a great job until the end when she dropped our check off abruptly without asking if we wanted anything else. We had planned to order two of the take home $5 entrees and waited at least 10 more minutes, hoping we would have an opportunity to tell her. My husband attempted to flag her down without success, so we left. During this visit, I ordered a vegetable plate, and my husband ordered the hamburger steak with onion gravy--both with biscuits. The biscuits were warm and delicious, but the butter was really cold and hard, not spreadable at all. The flavor of the rest of the food was good, but it took a while to arrive and was only lukewarm. The restaurant itself was just as I remembered and hasn't really changed in 15 years. It feels homey and welcoming. Wish the whole experience had matched. read more

Absolutely the WORST SRVICE AND FOOD!!! We went there for supper while passing thru and OMG we barley saw our server and our food took 1 hour & 42 minutes to get to the table after we ordered. They weren't busy they only had a few tables. I ordered breakfast and ordered my eggs over medium but the yolks were hard and the whites you couldn't hardly cut. I know that sounds hard to believe but seriously could'nt cut the whites so needless to say I didn't eat them.. the French toast was cold, so cold the butter didn't melt. Stopped on our way to Biloxi. Have eaten at Cracker Barrel all over the country and this one hands down was the worst. Food was not very good , scrambled eggs were stringy and cold, bacon not completely cooked. Husbands over easy eggs so small I thought they might be quail eggs. Orders a side of country ham and did not get it until we were finished with our food and they certainly did not grill it as it should be done. Think they just threw it down on flat top counted to ten then same on other side and threw on plate to go to the table and it was not hot at all. We had to eat the food as we were starving and no where else to stop anyway. Service was ok. Will never stop at this cracker barrel ever again. My family has been going to cracker barrel for some time now on road trips. Considering what it is - you don't expect too much from it. But you for sure expect more than what we got. Our waiter was incredibly slow and disoriented. Not in a "he's new" way, but in a "doesn't care to pay attention" way. We did not receive our drinks until AFTER our entire meal had come out AND EVEN THEN we had to ask our server to bring our drinks out. We had two sides of chicken and dumplings. There was no chicken, and 3-4 dumplings. After having to ask another waiter for our check (who was a very sweet and helpful lady!), we went up to the cash register to pay and order a to-go water. The water took 15 minutes to come out. The cashier was super nice and tried his hardest to get someone through an earpiece to get a water. No one would come. 15 minutes for a to-go water. When I finally did get it, it was because he had to get someone else in the shopping area to go make it for me. Right as she was bringing it out, a woman who I believe to be the manager came out to the hostess stand and just stood there, doing nothing, laughing about whose fault it was that a water took 15 minutes. Mind you - it was not crowded. They were not understaffed. I normally only review non-chains, but this experience was so bad I had to leave a review. read more
