We were fortunate to get a site that backed up to Lake Michigan. The lake was beautiful, during our time there, the water wasn't really clear (it had alot of pulpy wood), but some campers a few sites down said a few days earlier it was extremely clear; so I think it just all depends on how the wind is blowing. We loved being able to take our chairs out to the beach only about 20 feet from our campsite to relax in the day, and also see the beautiful stars at night. We will definitely be going back to this campground, I highly recommend it. We stayed on site 33

Marie took care of everything and reached out the same day to ensure everything was going as planned. When we reached the campground Marie and her husband were extremely friendly. They told us about the best beaches to visit and some details about the town. They then showed us around the site. The accommodations were beautiful, comfortable, and dry. The bathrooms were large and very clean. They supply you with everything except clothing. They have towels, soap, toothbrushes, cookware, grills, hot plates, chairs, fire wood, and so much more. I'm not a person that enjoys camping, but my significant other loves it; this was the perfect way for us both to enjoy it. Highly recommend!

The bathroom and shower area was well maintained and it was nice and quiet for bedtime. We will definitely come back!

My husband and I stayed at Big Cedar a while back. While it was centrally located to many…read moreattractions, it is also located on M-77, which turned out to be a pretty busy road during our stay. The noise from the road made relaxation difficult. Even though it's located on the river, the view is very limited. We did end up taking a canoe trip down the river. The owner informed us that we would need to portage a short distance down the river but that it was an easy task. It turned out that it was very difficult for us, as well as others ahead and behind us. It is a very steep hill to climb up, without steps, rocks or otherwise to climb up, making it very slick. Re-entry to the river was also difficult. Exiting the river at the campground was just as taxing. Cell service was also an issue for us, as I had to cross the street to get a signal to call out.

Camp Seven Lake was a beautiful spot for our annual friend camping trip this year. Getting to the campground was a little dicey as we didn't have great cell service for our map - I recommend writing out the turns beforehand and taking screen shots of the map route to help. The drive in was super pot-holey and a bit rough so take it slow and watch for craters! The sites at Camp Seven Lake are huge and not packed in super close like some parks. Lake Seven is 60 acres and great for boating and fishing, plus there's a really nice, small beach. There is lots of grassy space for picnics and bocce ball/yard games as well. The vault toilets were kept fairly clean and I never had to bring in extra toilet paper with me. The camp host stopped by a couple of times to see if we needed anything and was very friendly. The whole camp seemed really quiet and I never had any complaints about noise. There were lots of families and campers but it made for great tent camping too - our site had plenty of shade. It rained a bit on our first and last days, but the sites are made of small gravel that drained really well, so the sites weren't holding water. I had been worried about bugs, and they weren't too bad but I did use a LOT of DEET due to allergic reactions to insect bites. We were on sites 29 and 30 which was a great location - super close to the beach and vault toilet/water. Another thing we noticed was that the drinking water was by far the best we've ever tasted at any campground! No iron taste or sulphur smell. Just clear, clean tasting, pretty cold water. The beach was very clean and never really that busy; our friends told us that it never gets too crowded. Pack an inflatable tube and float in the swimming area! The only downside of the area is that there's not a ton around. Usually we like to check out breweries and sights when we go camping or at least hit up the camp store for ice and firewood. There's no camp store but Linda's Bread Box is a convenience store nearby, and Kitch-it-i-kipi is a big natural spring that is definitely worth a visit. Otherwise you can go to Manistique or up to Munising. We were traveling with a baby so we mostly stuck close to the campground, which was still great fun. I would love to go back to this campground again next summer!

camped here in mid june for 3 nights…read more first off location - right off lake michigan, maybe 50 feet. its so calming to here the light waves hit the shore at nighttime. for the most part there is tree line between the sites and the lake but there are benches throughout the site where you can view the lake - really nice for the sunrise and sunsets. the sites them self were quite large compared to the sites ive been to through the years. we were able to easily park a SUV, set up our tent, have a picnic bench, and a fire pit with no problem. another large vehicle and tent would have fit the site. a majority of the sites had campers parked at them. a majority of the sites contained electrical outlets - 20 and 30 amp receptacles the amenities were outstanding. the bathroom/shower area in the middle of the site appeared to be brand new or very recently renovated. the bathrooms were cleaned daily and the showers actually had hot water and private stalls with lockable doors. the site also had a volleyball beach court, teatherball, and basketball hoop near the beach. the rangers sold wood and ice and also had gear for the sporting events that could be used. i did not see a downside to this site. the nearest town was at least a 20-30 minute drive so we felt like we were away from life aside from the occassional semi truck that would speed down the nearest county road.

Lake Michigan is beautiful! The parks is well kept up!…read more As far as the campground, itself... Most sites are just grass, and many are not even close to being level. For some reason, they let tall weeds grow 5-6 feet at the lakefront.... Sitting down, you can hear the lake, but not see it very well. Not sure why....? Bring an extra extension electrical cord. Remember, no water hookups, so fill up on your way in. Site 33, does NOT have unobstructed view of the lake, as tenters set up directly between the lake and site 33. "Great" playground for the kids.... But the screaming gets old quickly! And take extra caution, because kids were "racing" alongside our vehicle on their bikes! And so, if you are coming for some quiet time.....don't. And, they installed some "bell/chime" for the kids.... Super annoying! The swimming beach is rocky by the shore. May want some water socks. Shower and toilet facilities are nice! Summary: Beautiful, well maintained park, but if you want a quiet retreat, go elsewhere.

Through out the campground there are a few pit toilets which are very clean and with toilet paper. We stopped for the night and we were the only ones there. $13 a night is a bargain as far as I'm concerned.
