Warning: Avoid This Auto Shop at All Costs -- Shady Business Practices & Deceptive Tactics…read more We brought our car into this shop for a simple a fender, bumper, and paint scuff repair -- nothing more. Unfortunately, what should have been a straightforward job turned into an extremely frustrating and suspicious experience that dragged on for two and a half months and cost us time, money, and peace of mind. Our insurance company sent an inspector to the shop to provide a damage estimate. However, the shop owner, Rui, had an unprofessional confrontation with the inspector, causing them to walk out and refuse to continue the process. Despite that, the shop still received payment from our insurance company specifically to repair the fender, bumper and paint scuff -- and that was it! Instead of completing those tasks, Rui took it upon himself to add extra damage claims that were never part of the original issue and that our insurance never approved. When we questioned him and requested a detailed breakdown of what had actually been done to our car, he told us it would take "hours" to put together -- yet when we demanded the release of our vehicle and had no choice but to pay out of pocket, he magically had the breakdown ready in under 15 minutes. During this entire time, our car was held hostage. Every phone call resulted in excuses and delays. He claimed that work couldn't proceed because the insurance hadn't sent another inspector -- even though that wasn't necessary for the original repair. It became clear that he was stalling intentionally to rack up storage fees, which we ended up having to pay in order to get our car back. And here's the worst part: the job wasn't even completed. The area that was supposed to be repaired looked incomplete and worse than how we brought it in. We were without a car for over a two and a half months , and after all that time, the job we paid for wasn't even done. To make matters even more disturbing, Rui gave us the number of a so-called mediator (lawyer)-- someone who he claimed could help us "fight the insurance" to get more money. This "mediator" was not licensed, spoke unprofessionally, and admitted he had multiple similar cases with this same shop. When other customers' insurance companies asked for his credentials, he flat-out said he wasn't required to have a license. This felt like a coordinated scam operation, not a legitimate business solution. Bottom Line: -Our car was held hostage for made-up storage fees -Work was never properly completed -The shop added unauthorized charges and tried to pressure us into working with a shady, unlicensed "mediator" -Zero professionalism, zero transparency, and zero accountability -I truly worry about how many vulnerable people this place might be taking advantage of. Please do your research and stay away. There are plenty of reputable, ethical body shops out there -- this is not one of them. We absolutely do NOT recommend this shop.

Quotes ranged from $1,200 to $2,900, always with an attitude like they were doing me a favor. Let's be honest: most auto body repair shops are the worst part of the auto industry. They try to sell you repairs you don't need--especially when there's no insurance company involved to keep them in check. (I didn't use my insurance company so I could avoid rate increases.) I had shops telling me I needed a new fender, door repaint, and even hood repaint--one shop quoted me $3,000 for work that didn't need to be done. Then I found 88 Auto Body on Route 88 in Brick, NJ. I spoke directly to Rui, the owner, on Monday, June 23, 2025. He gave me a straight answer, no games. By Tuesday, June 24, at noon, my car was finished--looking sharp and professionally done, including a pearl white repaint of the fender. The best part? The total cost was under $900. First visit, front wiper arm needed to be replaced. She said they normally replace the wiper blade. As they were only 3 months old, I declined. She asked 2 more times to replace the wiper blade making me feel pressured. Red flag 1 Car went in for service. The report they provided said air filter status unknown. There are 4 screws that hold the cover in place. The manager told me they only check the air filter if they are quick release fasteners. Basically, if they aren't sure if they can charge you for the filter they won't take the time to unscrew the cover. Red Flag 2. Took car in for oil change and tire rotation. They told me the rear wiper wasn't working. Odd as it was working the day before in the rain. Since I have an extended service warranty, I had them check to see if it was covered. It was only if the motor was bad. They told me that they would have to trouble shoot it and I would be responsible for the cost. Unless it turned out to be the motor. I asked if they checked the fuse. Service writer didn't even look at me nor acknowledged my question. Why should they see if it's the fuse when they play dumb and get paid for trouble shooting. Checked the rear wiper when they brought the car out and it was working just fine. During this same visit I was told the rear links are going bad. Insurance would pay but because the insurance would only pay a certain amount for the links, I would owe more than $100. I asked about aftermarket parts. She said they were more than the dealership. I found them online for what the insurance would pay for. After the prior red flags, I wonder if the links are in need of replacement. 3rd and final Red Flag. I canceled the appointment to have them replaced. Had the trans fluid changed along with the brake fluid not too long ago. Now I'm wondering if they did it? It's sad that Pro-Cat feels they need to do business in this manor. How did they stayed in business 35 years??

There are not enough words to express how happy I am with my County Line Auto Body experience. Had…read morea significant tree branch come down on my truck parked in the driveway during the storms a few weeks back. Since it went through the windshield in addition to the other body damage (Hood, roof, A pillar, mirror, fender), I couldn't drive it to them. They arranged towing, picked it up, brought it to the shop, arranged my rental car, and I was on my way while they worked. All I had to do was make 1 call to initiate the claim with insurance and they did all the administration from there. I never once had to deal with the insurance company, they did all the work.I got regular updates as the they went through the steps, so I knew exactly where everything stood. Turnaround was very quick, right on track with their initial estimate. I was blown away with how great it looked when I got it back. Since I originally had a ceramic paint treatment coating, once the body work was done they sent it through their Color Correctors shop to restore the coating so everything matched perfectly. I've not had my truck look this nice in a few years now- I've not been able to get it back to this level myself. 6 years old, looks effectively like new! So happy! And I didn't even have to arrange rental car return. Traded keys for mine and was on my way! They took the stress out of an otherwise stressful situation while restoring my truck to frankly better shape than it was in before the incident.

I told owner i needed Vehicle to travel out of state within 5 days i was assured it would be done in 2 days. On the third day i stopped by and saw vehicle parked in the same spot. I was told one of the workers was injured but assured the vehicle would be done by the end of the week. Stopped by on the fifth day and vehicle was still in the same spot. No calls no updates. Poor business practice then stoped in on the sixth day and had to to take unrepaired vehicle.
