What was causing me and 11 pound flat tire

Understanding !! Owner came right over. Took care of my issue in about an hour. Was very busy with other cars but took mine.

Fast, reliable service with respect. They are good guys! I recently had my state inspection done here and thy handled it with speed and professionalism.

Here's a picture of the rag that the mechanic left in my car which was smoking and caught fire.

Maybe the July 8 date was an outside estimate. Anyway, this comports with my own experience and makes me feel much better about the upcoming road trip. I accept that very good mechanics have an off day, which might be what happened with either diagnostic or service. We just need it fixed. I recommended my son to take his 2008 Forester in for a bumper to bumper mechanical check since before his 2K road trip. I had such a good experience with their service in January, and I wanted to make sure this car was serviced by Subaru mechanics. $3K later, having paid for the diagnostic and issues they found, he drove it home. On the 1st attempt to drive it after that, it kept stalling every time he stopped. He could not get through Philadelphia and had to have it towed. They are taking care of it today.

I had a really disappointing experience at Glanzmann Subaru and would strongly caution others…read morebefore going there for inspection or service. They failed my PA inspection on a 2023 Subaru Forester with only 27,000 miles -- not for anything remotely serious, but for extremely minor issues that felt more like an excuse to upsell than legitimate safety concerns. First, they failed the car over a tiny nick on a windshield wiper blade that was still fully functional, and then quoted $55 to replace it. They also claimed my tires needed to be replaced immediately and quoted $445 for mounting and balancing two tires -- all based on a very small cosmetic mark on the tread. The tires still have measurable tread (around 4/32") and no structural damage or exposed cords. I've attached photos of the exact tire they failed so others can judge for themselves -- there is a small mark, but nothing that reasonably justifies failing a state inspection. When I questioned it, they pointed to "state requirements," which is misleading at best. PA inspection rules are clear about what actually constitutes a failure, and this didn't meet that threshold. The overall impression I got was that they are actively looking for the smallest possible issue to fail your inspection so they can sell you overpriced repairs on the spot. I understand safety matters -- but this felt like a business model, not a safety standard. I will not be returning, and I'd recommend others consider a more honest, independent shop for inspections. Response to Owner: I'm going to respond directly because your reply misrepresents both the situation and Pennsylvania inspection standards. At no point did I make "threats." I stated that I would share my experience publicly -- which is exactly what I am doing now. That's not a threat, that's transparency. More importantly, your claim that these were "clear failures under PA inspection guidelines" is simply not accurate. Under PA inspection regulations (67 Pa. Code §175), a tire fails if: Tread depth is below 2/32", Tread wear indicators are flush with the tread in two adjacent grooves, or Ply/cord is exposed or there is structural damage. None of those conditions were present. The tire in question has approximately 4/32" of tread remaining, with no exposed cords or structural damage. The small cosmetic mark your team identified as "secondary rubber" is not listed anywhere in PA inspection code as a failure condition. Similarly, a fully functional wiper blade with a minor nick does not constitute a clear failure unless it cannot properly clear the windshield. Mine was operational. Saying these were "clear failures" under state law is misleading. At best, your team applied an overly conservative internal standard -- which is your choice -- but that is very different from a legal requirement. What is more concerning is that you, as the owner, are publicly standing by these decisions. That suggests this is not an isolated judgment call by a technician, but a broader, systemic approach at Glanzmann Subaru to interpret inspection standards in a way that benefits the service department. When minor or borderline items are failed and immediately paired with high-cost replacements ($55 for wipers, $445 for two tires), it creates the appearance of an upsell-driven inspection process rather than an objective one. I fully understand that licensed inspectors must follow the law. My issue is that the law is being incorrectly cited to justify decisions that go beyond what is actually required. I stand by my original review, and I've provided photos so others can judge for themselves.

So, I wanted to take a moment to share my recent experience at Ray Catena, and specifically, my interaction with Anthony Aiello. From the moment we walked into the dealership, Anthony greeted us with such warmth and made us feel like family. His polite and friendly demeanor instantly put us at ease. We had the opportunity to test drive the car and Anthony patiently went over all the features, ensuring that we had a thorough understanding of everything. I must say, it was truly a no-brainer for us to seal the deal with Ray Catena, primarily because of the exceptional service Anthony provided. His knowledge and enthusiasm for the product were infectious, and it was evident that he genuinely cared about our satisfaction. I cannot recommend Anthony and Ray Catena highly enough. If you are in the market for a new car, I urge you to visit their dealership and ask for Anthony. You won't be disappointed! Thank you again for your time, and patience you showed us please. Then they come back with other issues with your car; issues that you didn't even go there for; issues that will cost you $1,500+++!!! No thanks! I paid my $234 and cut my losses! The only reason I went to a Dealer is because my regular (trustworthy) mechanic couldn't fix my problem and told me only a Dealer could fix it. Long story short, the Dealer tried to get me to "fix" all these other fictional issues; never fixing the issue I had in the first place. I high-tailed it outta there FAST! I smell a Rat!! The manager persuaded us to keep the car and gave us free extended warranty. Told us ' we will be taken care of' whenever it has problem again. So we kept the vehicle. In between there were small problems but got the van within few days. On 5/16/23, the van's dashboard won't turn off, draining batteries. It's always electrical problem with this van. Anyway, we brought yo service center. They said no courtesy loaner car available. Will notify us if available. We haven't heard from them since, so we kept calling. Last conversation was 5/27/23, the case manager told us a cable was back ordered. Don't know when it's available. Then we kept waiting and following up and called three different managers. No response. Eventually we reached out to Honda cooperate. They investigated and told me no part was ordered. They don't know what's wrong. Dealership isn't obligated to give us loaner car. Direct me to call the dealership myself. I did but they won't call me back!! Cooperate says nothing they can do. On 6/21/23, honda dealership called me to pick up the car. They don't know what's wrong. They changed the battery ( it was changed a year ago) and upgrade the system. Now it's working. Anyway, I can't blame them if the van has problem. I blame them for lack of communication and no loaner car available in 35 days while my van is in their shop. We traded in the following week to a Lexus who will provide loaner car for every service. Now we have a piece of mind on a reliable vehicle.

Unfortunately, there was a major defect that was a health hazard so I started a buy back. The service dept Manager was really nice but was difficult for him to really go above and beyond. After months and months and phone calls and calls to the dealership and corporate. To be forgotten about. I got my measly buy back. I had all intentions to re-lease with vw in SI because I enjoy the cars and the dealership is on the island. I also thought " maybe the car i had was just a lemon". So when I started dealing with the Male sales manager for my re-lease of my buy back .I was surprised how he was so disgustingly aggressive, condescending, unprofessional and extremely disrespectful! He demanded I use all the money I receive for the new lease and he was counting every cent. Which I have the convo on recording. He was extremely difficult to deal with and I decided it just was not worth it. he didn't deserve my business. The day I was suppose to get my check and give back my loaner I ended up waking up to a flat tire. So I had to call road side. The gentleman came to switch the tire and he was puzzled how the tire deflated because there was nothing wrong with it. No screws, or holes or bend in the rim. I went to the dealership met with the service manager and he seemed angry and tense. He was upset I wasn't re-leasing with the dealership and also I got a flat. he told me I would have to pay For the tire then in the same sentence he told me I shouldn't worry about anything. I found this so grossly unprofessional and wanted out of this uncomfortable situation as quickly as possible. I left and went car shopping elsewhere. I'm so devastated how I was treated here. This is not a family run business. It's a corporation and emotions are not suppose to be involved in a professional business. I called today 5 months later bc I did end up with another vw and needed service. Thought maybe I would be able to stop by. Not only was I hung up twice. The manager in service picked up when my friend called and when we gave a different name. When I said it was me he told me I was at fault for a large gash in the loaner tire and I owe him 250 dollars. I have documentation stating otherwise that there was nothing wrong with the tire. he also told me he basically has a grudge and I wasn't welcome at his vw dealership in Staten Island ! If you are looking to buy a car I would really think twice on this dealership.
