In April I returned and paid another $336. After that, the office scheduled me for a routine cleaning and told me it was covered. The day of the appointment, I was told my balance was $0. Months later, I'm informed that insurance did not cover that cleaning. Let's be clear: the office schedules the appointments. The office verifies insurance. The office deals with insurance companies daily. If there was any possibility that a December maintenance cleaning would not be covered -- especially after I had already paid substantial amounts out of pocket -- it was their responsibility to inform me in advance. Patients deserve informed consent not only for procedures, but for financial responsibility. Had I known there was a chance it wouldn't be covered, I would have asked the cost and decided whether to proceed or postpone. That option was never given to me. On top of that, my husband was referred by this dentist to a specialist nearly two hours away. That provider charged him over $450 for a 15-20 minute conversation without performing any examination, imaging, or treatment. That experience already left a bad taste. Now this billing situation confirms a pattern of poor professional judgment. Today I was told that I should have checked my insurance myself. That response is unacceptable. Insurance coordination is part of what a dental office does every single day. Transparency is part of ethical practice. I paid the $141.16 balance. I cancelled my future appointment. We will not be returning. Maybe others have had better experiences. We did not. This is the difference between excellent service and mediocre service. About three years ago, I needed to replace my upper front bridge, but severe bone loss left me with limited options: extensive bone grafting followed by multiple implants, or a removable denture. I consulted nearly every reputable professional I could find, including the well-known practices you see advertised on television. Unfortunately, the costs were overwhelming, so I reluctantly chose a removable denture. While the denture itself was well made, I hated removing it every night and struggled to eat many of the foods I love. Six months ago, I saw a commercial for Performance Dental and decided to schedule a free consultation. Before my visit, I researched Dr. Ira Freedman and was impressed by his extensive experience and consistently excellent reviews. After meeting Dr. Freedman and his assistant, Misty, I was beyond impressed. They performed a full CT scan and developed a treatment plan that honestly seemed too good to be true--yet it wasn't. The plan was comprehensive, effective, and amazingly affordable. Like many people, I never enjoyed going to the dentist--until now. Dr. Freedman and Misty made me feel completely at ease; they treat me like family. Every step was clearly explained, and every procedure was executed with precision and care. Having everything done under one roof--from advanced imaging to treatment and lab work--made the entire process seamless. The facility and technology are far more advanced than anything I have experienced before. Dr. Freedman performed a full-arch bone graft, placed implants, provided a permanent upper bridge, a lower bridge, and additional crowns. I have periodontal disease and have had it for years, so I knew what to expect. I went back last week and had a deep cleaning, on one side, which was done under local anesthesia (shots). Dr Christy has a gentle touch and a very calming demeanor, which helps with someone as nervous as I am in the dentist chair. My deep cleaning went well and I go back in a couple of weeks to have the other side done. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The office is clean, modern and has a very nice atmosphere.
