In April I returned and paid another $336. After that, the office scheduled me for a routine cleaning and told me it was covered. The day of the appointment, I was told my balance was $0. Months later, I'm informed that insurance did not cover that cleaning. Let's be clear: the office schedules the appointments. The office verifies insurance. The office deals with insurance companies daily. If there was any possibility that a December maintenance cleaning would not be covered -- especially after I had already paid substantial amounts out of pocket -- it was their responsibility to inform me in advance. Patients deserve informed consent not only for procedures, but for financial responsibility. Had I known there was a chance it wouldn't be covered, I would have asked the cost and decided whether to proceed or postpone. That option was never given to me. On top of that, my husband was referred by this dentist to a specialist nearly two hours away. That provider charged him over $450 for a 15-20 minute conversation without performing any examination, imaging, or treatment. That experience already left a bad taste. Now this billing situation confirms a pattern of poor professional judgment. Today I was told that I should have checked my insurance myself. That response is unacceptable. Insurance coordination is part of what a dental office does every single day. Transparency is part of ethical practice. I paid the $141.16 balance. I cancelled my future appointment. We will not be returning. Maybe others have had better experiences. We did not. This is the difference between excellent service and mediocre service. I have periodontal disease and have had it for years, so I knew what to expect. I went back last week and had a deep cleaning, on one side, which was done under local anesthesia (shots). Dr Christy has a gentle touch and a very calming demeanor, which helps with someone as nervous as I am in the dentist chair. My deep cleaning went well and I go back in a couple of weeks to have the other side done. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The office is clean, modern and has a very nice atmosphere. I am glad I found this dentist and feel like my dental problems will be well managed.

On December 3, 2025, Bright Now provided a written treatment estimate showing our out-of-pocket cost would be $522.50 after applying both of her dental insurance plans. We relied on that estimate when moving forward with treatment. Months later, when we returned to complete the exact same procedure, we were suddenly told that due to a "system change" they no longer accept or bill secondary insurance. As a result, the cost nearly doubled. What makes this even more frustrating is that both insurance plans had previously been verified and included in the original treatment estimate. No advance notice was provided, no documentation was shown explaining the change, and we were left with a dramatically higher bill after already experiencing multiple scheduling delays. Because of the repeated appointment issues, lack of transparency, and significant increase in cost, we ultimately made the decision to switch dentists. No family should have to delay needed dental treatment for their child because an office changes its billing practices after providing a written estimate. Patients deserve clear communication, consistent pricing, and honest expectations. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. I have requested that Bright Now honor the original written estimate and am escalated the matter with no successful response.
