She answered all my questions ( I had a lot ) with ease and confidence. From Bella the receptionist who took care of my check-in, Kristel who did my retinal imaging photos, and checked my vision. Extremely informative, Explained what she was doing beforehand which made me feel so comfortable. Lorena assisted me in picking my glasses including the expense and even sketched me a picture of features that I wanted to include in my glasses with Ivette the office manager recommending the frame that I eventually chose. Thank you all so much, I'm 100% thrilled I came in today. Can't wait to pick up my frames!

Among the egregious disappointments was an incorrect optometric Rx and wrong measurement for my progressive lenses. The frames I selected with staff encouragement were too large for my face and rest painfully on my cheeks. Additionally and again unfortunate for me the lab would not allow me to select an alternate frame, although they had to replace the original lenses due to the incorrect eye exam prescription. Staff at Ebright would not advocate for me. Their advocacy could possibly have been helpful in changing the labs decision given the wrong prescription and need to replace the glasses. So, my ultimate outcome is a pair of every expensive glasses that I cannot wear because they rest uncomfortably and painfully on my cheeks. Which, by the way may, over time cause bruising on my face. I highly recommend that you avoid this business and select from other options, with positive reviews.

They do a good job at explaining things and talk about preventative things since the eyes can show some signs of things that might not be doing well in the body. The office is nice and clean and they have a good selection of glasses to choose from. If they don't have the frames, you can always bring it to them and they can get the lenses installed for you. They do accept VSP.

I checked in easily and quickly at the front reception desk. Had a mild wait while I scribbled out some paperwork and and then after a few more minutes, went to get my eye exam I saw Quan Dao for my exam. I've seen her twice before. The last two times were quite interesting. I had a routine eye exam and then I suggested if the prescription was simple enough that I could get it fulfilled at Costco. Oh, that was not the right decision for me. My prescription IS simple but Costco had to cut my lenses four times and they still failed. They sent me back for another eye exam to make sure my prescription was "correct". If there was a "mistake" in the prescription then I was allowed a free redo. There was no mistake in my prescription, but there was some room for a fudge factor. Which changed the prescription enough to get me a free redo at Costco. That was the whole point of the exercise. Well, the exam this time went smoothly. I suspected there was some very minor change to my prescription which showed up mostly in my nearsightedness. I felt I might benefit from some extra power in the lens there. Bingo. That was the exact result of my new exam. This was such a minor change to my prescription that Quan Dao and I debated if it was worth it to get another pair of glasses. In the end, we decided the problem could be solved with a minor upgrade in a pair of cheap readers. These cost anywhere from two bucks to 20. Then we both recalled the Costco experience and shuddered. We both agreed it was not worth going through anything like that again not for this minor prescription change. Checking out was a breeze. I just needed to pick up the printout for my new prescription and it was done.

I think he is the first and only O.D. at this Costco location, and my wife and I have had exams here since the time he started, which was about 30 years ago. Since a large component of any eye exam is the patient's subjective judgement of a series of better/worse images, the patient needs to feel comfortable and at ease. Emotional tension can lead to physical tension which is likely to skew the results if the patient recoils even slightly from the phoropter. Word on the street is Dr. Kamei may be retiring soon. The new Vallejo Costco is likely going to have a new O.D. also. Best wishes Dr. Kamei, but I know many others have the same opinion of your practice.
