    Pumpkin Pie

I love Bayside Vet! Everyone is awesome there! I think of them as family because that is how they treat me and my beautiful poodle Pumpkin Pie. They have given excellent treatment, the prices are very fair, and they are able to help my poodle in magical ways. Pumpkin is not too fond of having her nails trimmed or her anal glands emptied when needed, but somehow the wonderful vet techs are able to do this! They are miracle workers... I love all of the people at Bayside!

    Sunshine in the exam room.

I can't say enough great things about Bayside Veterinary - Our Pets Vets and their incredible team. This morning, my 9-year-old beagle, Sunshine, suddenly started urinating blood, and I was panicking, trying to find a vet who could see her. Every clinic I called was fully booked--until I reached out here. Ed immediately understood the urgency and made space for her, despite their packed schedule. That kind of compassion in a stressful moment meant everything to me. Dr. Deo and Kimberly were just as incredible. Kimberly was so attentive, making sure Sunshine felt safe and supported throughout the visit. Dr. Deo took his time, explained everything clearly, and never made me feel rushed throughout the entire process. More importantly, he treated Sunshine like she was his own, showing a level of kindness and care that isn't easy to find these days. I'm beyond grateful for this team--not only did they help Sunshine, but they gave me peace of mind in the process. Because of this experience, I'll be bringing Sunshine here for life. If you want a vet that truly cares, this is the place you need to come to for your pets. Thank you again, Dr. Deo, Kimberly, and Ed, for everything you do to keep our furry loved ones healthy and happy!

Dying kitten. Thank you to this vet for not assessing correctly and declining our request to give an IV.

Horrible experience at this Vet. We took our 8 week old kitten who was not eating, not drinking water, and extremely lethargic. Some Indian doctor saw him and charged us $140 for an exam and liquids under the skin. They tried to get blood (which would have been 400$) but his veins collapsed. We asked on severity - and the doctor said "just force feed him and bring him back on Monday or Wednesday to assess" on Sunday we took him to the VCA at night because we were very scared- the kitten would just lay there w eyes open. We had to put him down as he had Feline Parvo. We were heartbroken and feel like this vet was negligent and unprofessional- we asked them to please give him an IV and vitamins and they said he didn't need it. Shame on them- as we have lost a beautiful little soul. I would skip this place and go to Bayview Veterinary Center in mission beach.

Highly recommend veterinarian Dr. Deo @ Bayside Veterinary Hospital. Look no further for a Vet that is caring and knowledgeable. From day one Dr Deo understood how much we love our Beaglepoo. Dr. Deo owns Bayside Veterinary Hospital and he is extremely skilled at treating family pets. A honest person and explains about the situation in common sense. He's always on the spot about the right treatment and throws in a little humor to put us to ease. Our Beaglepoo is 15 yrs old and we had been told by other vets in the past about her heart murmur but no vet did one thing about it. First time we saw Dr. Deo ordered heart medicine and her quality of life changed exponentially. I know her days are numbered but she walks and plays like a puppy. She's loving life again. This week our beaglepoo (15 yrs) had oral surgery to remove teeth and cleaning. We have been extremely skeptical about anesthesia at her age and delayed the procedure too many times. I am very grateful that we trusted Dr. Deo to get her teeth taken care of. Our baby came out of surgery with flying colors after the procedure eating, drinking, and normal. The caring , ethical, integrity, compassion, kindness, and knowledge cannot be surpassed by Dr. Deo. @ Bayside Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Deo and the entire staff get a big round of " snaps"(applause) for the outstanding care and service they provide to making sure our Fuzzy Kids have the best possible quality of care and life.

She was investigated, found in violation and has been on a 5 year probation.

Dr Pearson had her license suspended!! She is on probation for horrible violations she performed on our beloved pets! I'm sorry I ever took my animals for the sloppy care they received. She is a nice lady, but over time, the medical records and continuity of care made no sense. All my animals were kept in the same folder, it's like she got them mixed up. Look it up on the California Veterinary Board Website to fully understand. https://search.dca.ca.gov/details/4601/VET/12504/cda1fb8bdd6057d37addd500fe9c02af https://search.dca.ca.gov/details/4601/VET/12504/cda1fb8bdd6057d37addd500fe9c02af

Amazing vet. They helped me get through a C-section with my pup at an affordable price and did an amazing job. Couldn't recommend them enough

    Michael M.

Yogi is dropping in for his yearly checkup and, at the moment, he is excited . The peeps here take great care of my little 4-legged child, better than my local vet. Thanx guys for your fantastic treatment of my best bud!

Ask the Community - Bayside Veterinary Hospital

Does anyone know where dr Joseph went. We liked him frankly so much more?

Hi! Dr. Joseph went to work at a shelter. As you know, he is a young doctor and wanted to try a different type of veterinary work.

Do you do AI or TCI?

    We perform surgical inseminations.

Over the…read moremany hours dealing with my own dog I've watched, seen, spoke to countless other patients and of course the Vets and staff. It's a large practice with ER Vets without ER prices. This is going to be a long review. My dog had an autoimmune disease that makes his body attack platelets. Basically without them you're going to die. Steroids and other immune suppressants are given in high doses which suppresses the immune system and can result in infections. My dog ended up one day collapsing out of the blue, no warning, no swelling the night before, and now a massive arm overnight. We rushed him down and it was a septic staph infection. A septic staph infection without a functioning and highly supressedimmune system in a 12 year old dog. Over two days Buddy's arm was drained and flushed under general anesthesia as subsequent infection pockets popped up . A culture was taken but we wouldn't know the results for days. Two broad spectrum antibiotics were picked from their experience and what they were seeing, a highly educated assumption of what would most likely work with the infection. Well, one of them was the correct choice and my dog that would most likely die didn't die. I might add that there ended up only being a few medication that the infection was susceptible to, and they picked again the right one. My dog at this point was very high risk after everything that happened to him especially due to his long term high dose Prednsione use that had deteriorated his body. He was a shell of the dog he use to be and had even gotten steroid induced Cushings. I couldn't put him through the steroids anymore and after the infection had subsided his platelets started to rapidly decrease again. B Street granted him his only chance of survival, a splenectomy. He not only made it through the surgery but immediately went in to remission. Since NOV 8th he has had a platelet count above 600k. Because Buddy is Buddy his liver enzymes went through the roof post splenectomy (hospitalization levels) and they chose the perfect concoction of medications including Urdosoil, mik thistle, and NAC which worked. His enzymes were so high it took nearly a month to get out of the severe danger zone, but he did. Four months later they are on the high end of normal with two still decreasing but of no worry. Dr. V at last recheck called them "boring", I like boring test results. Staff: every single person is not only excessively talented but good people. I'm not naming people because there are too many that are phenomenal and I feel like I will leave someone out and feel bad about it. I'm not a sunshine and rainbows person, I'm generally pretty negative (something I'm working on). This place is the only place I trust, that's it. A few reviews mention wait times. I never see this talked about...B Street is a trauma center with non-trauma prices, actually incredible prices. They are great with every day worries and treat animals with gastrointestinal, skin issues, normal every day concerns but if a dog or cat had a seizure, hit by a car, not able to breathe, etc. it's all hands on deck and that dog or cat is rushed in. This isn't a "normal" Vet this is where you go if you are okay with waiting and want your dog or cat to have the best care they possibly can have. I know going in there that I'm going to most likely wait and with every incredible thing I've seen here I will wait as long as I need to. Starbucks down the street is my best friend and I've worked in the Vet's office with my laptop countless times. People go here because they know how great the Vets are, the staff, just everything. I also saw a post where someone said they didn't spend time with the Vet. I don't get this unless you're expecting a 30 minute conversation about a routine everyday issue. I understand that everyone has likes when dealing with a Vet and if you want that private room, with the in depth conversations about basic things, where there are two dogs in the lobby, this place may not be for you. While I personally like all those things myself I would rather go to the place where they have the best vets and staff in SD who can handle everything from basic to emergency and don't miss things like they do at other Vets. If I haven't mentioned this yet they are open 7 days a week and on most holidays as well. If your dog needs surgery, a second opinion, has standard needs, or you're ready to move Vets check out B street. These aren't just my opinions, I've spoken to countless others with dogs and cats who feel the same way I do. They won't go anywhere else.

They stay pretty busy, and the waiting area is small, so I prefer waiting outside or in my car since it gets crowded inside. They also take your dog in the back without you well before the exam, vaccines, or procedure. Just a heads‑up if that's something you care about or prefer to be present for. The staff themselves were very friendly -- upbeat, bubbly, and kind -- which definitely helps the experience. I was referred here by the rescue, so I came in for two vaccines. Even though the wait was long, everything went smoothly, and I got a call a few hours later to pick up my pup. Overall, a busy walk‑in clinic with friendly staff and straightforward care, but plan ahead for the wait and the drop‑off style.

Sassy is a chunky snowshoe breed, 10+ years old. Her previous owner passed away from Covid, and she became part of my family in 2023. In 2025, I was devastated to learn that she has Stage 4 renal disease. Her liver is failing, and without proper treatment, her life would have been cut short. Dr. Karen Kurowski and her incredible team--Lindsey, Nate, Sunny, Hyda, and the other compassionate vet techs--have been a lifeline. They gave me a clear plan to follow, supported me with each step, and have truly helped sustain Sassy's life. She is now on the right medications, and I give her fluid injections every other day as her "second kidney." Because of their care, Sassy has been able to live not just longer--but better. What I love most about this hospital is that it feels less about money and more about what's right for the animal. Veterinary care can be expensive, especially when you have multiple cats like I do. But here, I have always felt they try to keep costs reasonable and make sure I'm not overwhelmed. They are honest, practical, and thoughtful--always focusing first on the well-being of my pets. That kind of integrity means the world to me. Today, Sassy is thriving in her "fourth quarter." She doesn't know she is ill. She lives with joy, gratitude, and happiness every single day. It is my honor to care for her, and it is thanks to Dr. Kurowski and her team that she is enjoying this chapter of her life so fully. For anyone looking for a veterinary office that combines expertise, compassion, and fairness, Scripps Ranch Veterinary Hospital is that rare place. I will always be grateful to them for the care and love they've shown Sassy--and me.

I've heard about some Veterinarians who tend to pad their bills with extra services and items, but until this visit I hadn't really experienced it. We brought our older (and basically healthy) dog in today because she was sick on Thursday (vomiting food & water). She felt better on Friday and today, but we brought her in anyway to get checked out. Cue the huge bill! The original estimate on the high side was $1300, and we had them lower that estimate by a few $100 by removing a couple of services including xrays. Then after she'd been there for a few hours, they indicated that she needed more tests to the tune of nearly $1000. We had them do most of them, but not all. As I'm writing this on Sunday, Cali is feeling much better, she's now on a low-fat diet, and the tests that they did all turned out negative. (We're still waiting on the results of the urinalysis.) Thank goodness, but jeez... They also negatively impacted my bank account. I'm glad my dog is feeling better, and she's worth any cost honestly, but I sincerely feel that some of things they did were not necessary, and didn't need to be done this time, or could have been pushed forward and a determination about their necessity could've been made after we made some changes and monitored her. It is what it is at this point, but I just suggest that you pay close attention to the estimates and bills at this Vet Hospital, and knowing your pet, make the right decisions for them, whatever they may be. Mahalo.
