We love InFURmary and Dr. Johnson! When our dog, Darwin, needed emergency surgery for kidney stones, they were able to get him in the same day and took amazing care of him. Dr. Johnson was kind, thorough, and helped us feel at ease during a very stressful time. One thing I really appreciate is that they've never pushed unnecessary treatments. They've always been upfront about our options, including lower-cost alternatives when appropriate. We've usually gone with their top recommendation, but it's reassuring to know they're focused on what's best for your pet. The entire staff is wonderful. All of the techs are caring and attentive, and Bea at the front desk is fantastic always friendly and so helpful. As the owner of a COVID puppy with separation anxiety, I also have to mention the pup cups!!. They make visits so much easier for Darwin. On a personal note, I'm an elementary school teacher and took a couple of days off while Darwin was recovering. I bought Dr. Johnson's book to read to my class when I got back it's called The Doggy Doctor, and my students loved it so much they voted it their favorite book of the year! We're so grateful for Dr. Johnson and the whole InFURmary team and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Grateful we came here for our elderly mini schnauzer! He's had bad allergies since we came to California years ago and we haven't figured out to keep the symptoms at bay. My husband found the inFURmary and I'll admit, I was a little skeptical but at the appointment, they were incredibly thorough in their questions and testing. Once we got the meds and have been administering them, we're seeing such a different in managing the symptoms of our pup. Although it's a bit of a drive for us, I'm relieved we have a place to take our schnauzers where the issues get fixed!

Just took my Cookie to the vet today here. Very friendly staff. Beautiful clinic. Cookie didn't even seem stressed out like she does with the vet usually. Dr. Jacqueline Johnson seems incredibly knowledgeable about pain management. Feel relieved that I seemed to have found a good spot for Cookie!

If you're looking for a veterinarian you can truly trust with your furry family, we cannot recommend The Infurmary enough! We just took our sweet Charlotte Lucille in for her check-up and shots, and she was such a good patient--but only because Dr. Johnson and her amazing staff made her feel safe and loved from the moment we walked through the door. They even followed up later the same day to check on her and see how she was doing--such a thoughtful touch that gave us so much peace of mind. The clinic itself is brand new and absolutely stunning: Murals & artwork in every room Pup cups waiting in the lobby State-of-the-art operating rooms & equipment Reasonable, transparent pricing Most importantly, they treat your pets like their own--spoiled, loved, and cared for with the utmost compassion. The Infurmary is everything you want in a veterinary clinic (and more). Your furry babies will thank you! Trust me! www.theinfurmary.com

We took our Doberman in this morning because he was bitten by another dog and was in a lot of pain. They had immediate availability so we rushed him in. From the moment we walked in, we knew we found a special team who's passion for animals and expertise is unmatched. They were very patient getting our dog into a comfortable state because he does not generally like the vets office. They tended to his needs and he's doing great already. I absolutely recommend inFURmary to everyone who loves their pet

New pet clinic in the Scripps/Mercy Rd area. This place is brand new and very spacious. Dr Johnson is really nice and takes her time with your pet. She gives you options on how you want to proceed with your pets care. She doesn't pressure you into anything you don't want. The Vet Techs are very knowledgeable and you can tell are experienced. Love this place and will be getting my dog, Koda's care here from now on.

I am very impressed with Dr. Johnson and The InFURmary. They specialize in pain management and have many treatment options that do not involve medications. The staff provide exceptional customer service. I am taking my 18 year old dog for Shockwave and Laser therapy. After only 3 sessions I have seen significant improvement in his mobility. Their fees are very reasonable and they are open on Saturday! I highly recommend them!

My black lab Diana had a pretty large laceration on her paw. Dr. Johnson was able to get us in and have Diana stitched up in no time! She took really good care of her and explained everything in the process to me. Everyone was very friendly and kind. I ended up transferring all of my dogs over to Dr. Johnson for their routine exams/check-ups because of how great she is! Thank you everyone! They even have a cute little pup cup coffee bar, Finn my other dog pictured getting his annual check up.

We recently came in today to get our Great Dane Scoober looked at for his ear. He frequently gets infections in both. We moved down to Mira Mesa area and browsed around for a new vet. My wife found inFURmary and we got an appointment the same day. This place is insanely clean, spacious, and welcoming. The staff were super polite and helpful. They didn't try to upsale us with a bunch of stuff that we don't need like our last vet did and we appreciate that. Very happy we selected the inFURmary team! Highly recommend !! Such a clever name haha

Mickey with his treat from the inFURmary!

There is nothing more I could've asked for from the inFURmary. Very suddenly, I noticed dramatic weight loss in my 15 year-old childhood cat, Mickey. So, I snuck him out of the house over to the inFURmary for a check-up. Despite being younger and on a budget, everyone was willing to work with me to seek out the best, yet most affordable options for Mickey. I was given subcutaneous fluids for my boy, along with an appetite stimulant. They even sent me home with a few cans of wet food, which was just such a thoughtful gesture and shows how caring the staff are. After I received his bloodwork results via email, I would send constant emails with general questions, support for his treatments, and advice for our future steps. Dr. Johnson went just above and beyond, taking the time each day to respond to each and every inquiry I sent, even several day after my visit. Her expertise, patience, and support absolutely exceeded my expectations, and is a testament to just how far the inFURmary had gone to care for Mickey. Despite this, I had brought in Mickey too late. He ended up in critical condition, and lost his ability to walk and stand about 4 days after I visited. We rushed him over to the ER as it was very late at night, and we were told it was best to put him to sleep. Even after the fact, I had sent a panicked, follow-up email about about my doubts, and I was still treated with the same level of respect and care. The inFURmary is exceptional for not only treating Mickey, but for also helping me understand and learn just about everything there was to know about his condition. Dr. Johnson's patience and expertise is outstanding, and I can rest well knowing that I had brought Mickey into the right hands. Thank you so much to her, and to everyone at the inFURmary. Mickey was honored to have been in your care! We love you Mickey!!

I am so thankful that I found this veterinary clinic. I'm especially grateful to Dr. Johnson and her team for the wonderful care they gave my cat. After doing a lot of research and carefully reading reviews--especially after having a bad experience with a previous vet--I decided to try Infurmary Veterinary, and I couldn't be happier with my choice. My cat had bad breath, and at first I thought she only needed a simple dental cleaning. But after a thorough exam, Dr. Johnson diagnosed her with stomatitis and explained that surgery would be necessary. Dr. Johnson carefully walked me through all the options, explaining everything step by step. I never felt rushed and was able to ask as many questions as I needed. That meant a lot to me. We decided on a full tooth extraction, which Dr. Johnson assured us was the best long-term solution and something cats adjust to very well. The clinic was very accommodating with scheduling and worked around our needs in a professional way. The surgery was successful, and my cat is recovering wonderfully. Throughout the whole process, Dr. Johnson stayed in touch, giving updates and clear instructions both by phone and email. The cost was very reasonable, especially given the high level of care. This is the best veterinary team I've ever trusted with my pet, and I highly recommend them to anyone who wants excellent care for their animals. Thank you again, Dr. Johnson and team, for going above and beyond my expectations.

WCV has a 15 minute grace period. I guess that extra 3 minutes was too much for the staff to bear. They wouldn't let it slide not even once. Every past appointment we were on time, and we always had to wait 15-20 before we were seen. Our time is valuable, but they don't care about that. Well the $39 dollars they wanted to charge me cost WCV hundreds maybe even thousands in future earnings. Penny wise dollar foolish! The manager and front desk staff were clueless about customer service. Their smirks were straight out of Central Casting. We ended up walking out canceling our appointment, and vowing never to return again. Customer service counts now more than ever, and there are plenty of Vets that are more than happy to have a new customer. How much is West Coast Vet spending on marketing and ads? How many future customers will they lose with this post? I booked an appointment with another Vet right after leaving WCV. General rule in customer service-The customer is always right! Bottom line-Avoid this place at all costs!

Over the…read moremany hours dealing with my own dog I've watched, seen, spoke to countless other patients and of course the Vets and staff. It's a large practice with ER Vets without ER prices. This is going to be a long review. My dog had an autoimmune disease that makes his body attack platelets. Basically without them you're going to die. Steroids and other immune suppressants are given in high doses which suppresses the immune system and can result in infections. My dog ended up one day collapsing out of the blue, no warning, no swelling the night before, and now a massive arm overnight. We rushed him down and it was a septic staph infection. A septic staph infection without a functioning and highly supressedimmune system in a 12 year old dog. Over two days Buddy's arm was drained and flushed under general anesthesia as subsequent infection pockets popped up . A culture was taken but we wouldn't know the results for days. Two broad spectrum antibiotics were picked from their experience and what they were seeing, a highly educated assumption of what would most likely work with the infection. Well, one of them was the correct choice and my dog that would most likely die didn't die. I might add that there ended up only being a few medication that the infection was susceptible to, and they picked again the right one. My dog at this point was very high risk after everything that happened to him especially due to his long term high dose Prednsione use that had deteriorated his body. He was a shell of the dog he use to be and had even gotten steroid induced Cushings. I couldn't put him through the steroids anymore and after the infection had subsided his platelets started to rapidly decrease again. B Street granted him his only chance of survival, a splenectomy. He not only made it through the surgery but immediately went in to remission. Since NOV 8th he has had a platelet count above 600k. Because Buddy is Buddy his liver enzymes went through the roof post splenectomy (hospitalization levels) and they chose the perfect concoction of medications including Urdosoil, mik thistle, and NAC which worked. His enzymes were so high it took nearly a month to get out of the severe danger zone, but he did. Four months later they are on the high end of normal with two still decreasing but of no worry. Dr. V at last recheck called them "boring", I like boring test results. Staff: every single person is not only excessively talented but good people. I'm not naming people because there are too many that are phenomenal and I feel like I will leave someone out and feel bad about it. I'm not a sunshine and rainbows person, I'm generally pretty negative (something I'm working on). This place is the only place I trust, that's it. A few reviews mention wait times. I never see this talked about...B Street is a trauma center with non-trauma prices, actually incredible prices. They are great with every day worries and treat animals with gastrointestinal, skin issues, normal every day concerns but if a dog or cat had a seizure, hit by a car, not able to breathe, etc. it's all hands on deck and that dog or cat is rushed in. This isn't a "normal" Vet this is where you go if you are okay with waiting and want your dog or cat to have the best care they possibly can have. I know going in there that I'm going to most likely wait and with every incredible thing I've seen here I will wait as long as I need to. Starbucks down the street is my best friend and I've worked in the Vet's office with my laptop countless times. People go here because they know how great the Vets are, the staff, just everything. I also saw a post where someone said they didn't spend time with the Vet. I don't get this unless you're expecting a 30 minute conversation about a routine everyday issue. I understand that everyone has likes when dealing with a Vet and if you want that private room, with the in depth conversations about basic things, where there are two dogs in the lobby, this place may not be for you. While I personally like all those things myself I would rather go to the place where they have the best vets and staff in SD who can handle everything from basic to emergency and don't miss things like they do at other Vets. If I haven't mentioned this yet they are open 7 days a week and on most holidays as well. If your dog needs surgery, a second opinion, has standard needs, or you're ready to move Vets check out B street. These aren't just my opinions, I've spoken to countless others with dogs and cats who feel the same way I do. They won't go anywhere else.

They stay pretty busy, and the waiting area is small, so I prefer waiting outside or in my car since it gets crowded inside. They also take your dog in the back without you well before the exam, vaccines, or procedure. Just a heads‑up if that's something you care about or prefer to be present for. The staff themselves were very friendly -- upbeat, bubbly, and kind -- which definitely helps the experience. I was referred here by the rescue, so I came in for two vaccines. Even though the wait was long, everything went smoothly, and I got a call a few hours later to pick up my pup. Sassy is a chunky snowshoe breed, 10+ years old. Her previous owner passed away from Covid, and she became part of my family in 2023. In 2025, I was devastated to learn that she has Stage 4 renal disease. Her liver is failing, and without proper treatment, her life would have been cut short. Dr. Karen Kurowski and her incredible team--Lindsey, Nate, Sunny, Hyda, and the other compassionate vet techs--have been a lifeline. They gave me a clear plan to follow, supported me with each step, and have truly helped sustain Sassy's life. She is now on the right medications, and I give her fluid injections every other day as her "second kidney." Because of their care, Sassy has been able to live not just longer--but better. What I love most about this hospital is that it feels less about money and more about what's right for the animal. Veterinary care can be expensive, especially when you have multiple cats like I do. But here, I have always felt they try to keep costs reasonable and make sure I'm not overwhelmed. They are honest, practical, and thoughtful--always focusing first on the well-being of my pets. That kind of integrity means the world to me. Today, Sassy is thriving in her "fourth quarter." She doesn't know she is ill. She lives with joy, gratitude, and happiness every single day. It is my honor to care for her, and it is thanks to Dr. Kurowski and her team that she is enjoying this chapter of her life so fully. For anyone looking for a veterinary office that combines expertise, compassion, and fairness, Scripps Ranch Veterinary Hospital is that rare place. I've heard about some Veterinarians who tend to pad their bills with extra services and items, but until this visit I hadn't really experienced it. We brought our older (and basically healthy) dog in today because she was sick on Thursday (vomiting food & water). She felt better on Friday and today, but we brought her in anyway to get checked out. Cue the huge bill! The original estimate on the high side was $1300, and we had them lower that estimate by a few $100 by removing a couple of services including xrays. Then after she'd been there for a few hours, they indicated that she needed more tests to the tune of nearly $1000. We had them do most of them, but not all. As I'm writing this on Sunday, Cali is feeling much better, she's now on a low-fat diet, and the tests that they did all turned out negative. (We're still waiting on the results of the urinalysis.) Thank goodness, but jeez... They also negatively impacted my bank account. I'm glad my dog is feeling better, and she's worth any cost honestly, but I sincerely feel that some of things they did were not necessary, and didn't need to be done this time, or could have been pushed forward and a determination about their necessity could've been made after we made some changes and monitored her. It is what it is at this point, but I just suggest that you pay close attention to the estimates and bills at this Vet Hospital, and knowing your pet, make the right decisions for them, whatever they may be.
