Spent $40 plus to purchase a Tea Logic mug from the store and it cracked at first use when pouring coffee into it Went to the store and the stuff seemed no clue what to do so asked me to email the owner Emailed the owner politely explained what happened , no responds for a few days until I followed up with another email . The owner emailed back with no intention to resolve the issue but describing how they always carefully checked every mug before they sell. And how much she was certain that it must be something happened between the purchase and first use . And we obviously doesn't agree. She expressed how unfortunate this has happened and offered to sell us another mug , that's the funny part Lol Lesson learnt , won't go back . read more

The place to buy tea. Bar none. I am a self confessed tea snob and tea is my only source of drinkable caffeine. I love the variety and flavours available here. There is nothing gimmicky here. Just real quality backed up with knowledge. I've been been buying Tea here for over 25 years. I've tried others. I've liked others. But no one else has me coming back over and over again. They will even make a special blend just for you if there is nothing that just can't meet your needs or suit your palate. They have a carefully curated selection of tea accessories to choose from, both imported and locally made. Nothing flimsy or not functional. Other 'tea shop' chains are like a sad joke in comparison. I have never been disappointed in over 25 years of tea and tea accessory purchases. I'm not sure I can say that about any other store I patronize. Brava! read more

What a cute little tea shop! I've been hitting tea shops all around Vancouver and online trying to find the best spicy chai similar to East is East. I felt like Goldilocks and be like this tea doesn't have enough ginger or this was too weak. The girl who worked her when I asked her about the spicy chai she said it's better than East is East. Boy was she right !!! It was just right in every way when I brewed it at home. The teas here are definitely high quality as you can always do a great second steep as well. My only regret is I wish I bought a bigger bag as their teas are so addicting. read more

Honestly, i love this place. I'm a huge fan of chai and i make my own blends - i usually do my west broadway spice run at dan-d market on broadway and macdonald, then head over to bayswater tea co for my tea leaves. I love it there. The staff are always so friendly and knowledgeable, and don't try to oversell me - i don't need the high-end assam tea leaves as i'm just going to be covering it all up with spices and vanilla anyway - and i appreciate their honesty about it. I've come here a million times and look forward to it every time i do. read more

I think this place is a great place to pick up loose leaf tea, say, if you're going to be ambitious and make that batch of Royal Earl Grey Tea Cookies to impress your friends. You NEED to try Bayswater Tea Company. I live and work in the area, and have recently been trying to wean myself off of my daily coffee(s), and so I stopped in to the Bayswater Tea Co. one afternoon. That was three weeks ago and I have not had any other tea since. The staff is so so knowledgeable--I am constantly impressed with everything that they can tell you about their teas, and how they can pick exactly what you feel like drinking at the moment from a wall full of a myriad of tea tins. My favorite is called Merlins Magic--raspberry, rose petals, and coconut flavors, and it is SO good. A little local honey and it's precariously close to perfection. They have black teas, green teas, fruit teas--anything you can dream, with fun names likes Monks Blend and delicious flavors like Mango Yogurt. If you're into something more on the chocolatey side, try Divine Temptation. Along the back they also have teas that cure what ails ya--feel a cold coming on? Grab a Healing and Relaxation tea to go. They even have a Throat Tea for singers who strain their voice. Something for everyone--whether you're a tea fanatic or not. They also have an assortment of chocolates infused with green tea, chai, and earl grey, as well as beautifully crafted pottery (mugs etc) from local artists. read more

My tea dealer in Vancouver! Pretttttty Pretttty Prettty good in my best Larry David voice. It is always so quiet in here. Kinda like a nice smelling library. I am hooked on their Floral twist earl grey, and the Creamy EG is our house standard. Bought a couple varieties of their fruit teas to make iced teas with yesterday. I will report back when the sun comes out! Wish there was a more up-to-date method to reward their loyal customers with other than the stamp cards. As I never remember to bring my card with me. I am a sucker for pottery and I LOVE the apricot and fig tea from Bayswater. I particularly like that you can buy in bulk, bring your own tin back, or buy a unique tin from them. I buy enough tea that I fill up at least half of one of their "frequent flyer" cards just about every visit, which gets me the opportunity to try 50 g of something new (or old). If you're looking for a beautiful locally-made tea pot, this is a good place to check out. Also, cheaper than other tea stores in Kitsilano. read more

Walking into Bayswater Tea Company is just as soothing as sitting down to an afternoon pot of tea. The light is soft, staff pleasant, and variations of tea endless. An entire wall of the store is stacked with small-ish containers of normal and strange concoctions. Two-hundred types of tea there are in all, from nettles right through to boysenberry. The store sells tea supplies, like pots and strainers, as well as serves up hot drinks in the café area. Can't decide which tea to take home? Enjoy a cup in the store first! read more

I've known this shop ever since it first opened, when it was right near the 7-11. The owner has also known me and recognized me when I walked in this time, even though it's been years since she's seen me. The store has grown in its offerings but at its heart is a large array of beautiful loose teas - Earl greys, rooibos, green teas, fruit and Chinese teas being among those it offers to a large extent. I have always been welcomed in and allowed to sniff around to my heart's content, which makes me very pleased. The service has never been anything but polite and encouraging, always bringing out a number of varieties for my olfactory senses to sample and pick out. They also have cute tins in the store which help to make the loose tea an ideal gift for others. What an excellent installment in Kitsilano. Quaint shop whose charming, knowledgeable, and riotously funny proprietress is its best feature. Great selection of teas, and she knows fascinating obscure facts about each one. The only downside is that I've found it impossible to find my favorites in the US, which means I'll probably have to make a trip soon. My girlfriend and I also loved the large variety of Dunoon bone china mugs, cups, and teapots. The designs range from whimsical to classical, but either way they are a classy way to enjoy fine teas. We're planning to visit every time we're in Vancouver and add a new piece each time. Definitely worth checking out! read more

The few times I've been in here were okay, but I've always felt rushed and goaded to buy a lot here. I've actually bought very little and never the same tea twice because none of them were what I was looking for. The staff doesn't seem to know much about the teas and when I put my questions straight to the owner, she answered with rhetoric. That made me think the quality of the teas didn't stand on its own and needed whitewashing to seem good. I never go just for flavour, I only buy things with genuine and non-toxic ingredients. I'm a stickler for authenticity and quality and I seek out the best stuff I can. I do think shop-owners should know their merchandise and only hire people who can understand what they're selling. Not bad if you're not fussy, though. read more

I like my tea, therefore, I tend to be over critical when it comes to tea selection. I have to disagree with a few reviews that this is the best tea selection ever 'cause at the top of my hat and if you read my reviews, there are others that surpass this claim. They had some selection, however, nothing that I wouldn't find elsewhere to be honest. They're more of a tea accessory store than a seller of loose leaf brands. They have no house brand stuff, mostly stuff from other distributors including the chocolates which I have had similar from farmer's market. I was in the area for Greek Free Day, however, there was nothing spectacular that would make me go out of the way to come down to the area outside of the festival. Outside of the festival if I was in the area, I can see this being a relaxing experience. read more

DO NOT SHOP HERE. As a tea lover, I was looking forward to trying Bayswater Tea Company since the prices on their website looked competitive. However I was extremely disappointed and will never buy from this store again because of the owner's behaviour and treatment of her staff. The owner berated the staff in front of myself and the other customers in the store. She snatched things away from the staff's hands because she thought they weren't doing something correctly, belittling them to the point that I wanted to confront her. Instead, I thought it would be more impactfull to write this review and discourage potential customers from shopping at Bayswater Tea Company. I will gladly pay the extra money for a pleasant and fun tea experience at her competitor, David's Tea. read more

Best shop in Vancouver for loose tea blends. Select a tea, have a seat at the bistro tables, and Sabrina, proprietor and tea specialist, will brew your tea to perfection, milk or honey on the side. Favourite blend: Cream Earl Grey - since 2004, have not bought tea anywhere else. Life is too short to drink lesser quality tea, when fine tea brings so much delight. I am not a tea snob - nor a snob in any facet of life - yet I really do prefer loose tea to bagged tea. I know for a fact that the best tea is reserved for loose leaf export, and I find that there is a great deal more variety when comparing loose with bags. Bayswater Tea Company definitely delivers on the variety front with close to 200 blacks, greens, fruits, and oolongs to choose from. Having said this, the selection of teas is not the main reason I have shopped here three times over the past year. I like supporting Bayswater Tea Company because they are in my neighbourhood, the family that owns it is genuine and knowledgeable, and I know it must be hard to maintain a business such as this along West Broadway. Next time you are in the grocery store, and tea is on your shopping list, I urge you to resist buying that Tazo that is on sale and make a special trip to a small business such as Bayswater. You will be supporting your community, and you will likely receive much better treatment at a specialty shop such as this than at No Frills or Whole Foods. read more

Fabulous teas, outstanding customer service, wonderful owner! What more could you ask for? I purchased six sets of Sabrina's special Tea Advent Calendars last year for the ladies in my family: my daughters, daughter-in-law, mother-in-law and best friend! Sabrina packaged and shipped the kits quickly so that everyone had them in time for the advent season. But the best part is that they all rave about the teas. Without exception, the quality and selection of teas are creating memorable experiences. Everyone wants to buy more of Sabrina's amazing teas. I know that i will be ordering more tea...and definitely more of the fabulous advent calendars! read more
