Very nice gym and the staff are amazing. Everyone is helpful and the gym itself is not too intimidating. Easy to sign up and you can try it for free so thats awesome. Some of the machines are older but they still get the job done. It is more expensive than the big box gyms so if you are looking for basic workouts it might not be the place for you. Still a great gym - recent remodel looks really good with the new logos on the walls and windows - new paint also. They have a good array of membership packages for you to choose from which would suit the hard-core gym folks and the not-so (like myself). It's also now open 24 hours and entry is via a swipe of your membership card. Very clean, as always and never too crowded! read more

Before Bay View Fitness I was going to a big box gym. The gym I used to go to got so busy you would have to stand and wait for certain machines. The cleanliness of this big box gym was atrocious due to all the people and only 1 cleaning person. Bay View is nothing like this. BVF 1st of all has a great vibe to it with classic and 90's rock playing during the day and up beat dance music at night. During the day it's always easy to use 2-3 pieces of equipments a time. After 5 does get a little busy but I still never have to wait for a machine or completely change my workout due to machine hogs. And it's 24 hour access!! Chill staff, clean, and not overly packed. The equipment is older but everything works and is never broken. Great CrossFit like open area, and plenty of good vibes for a positive place to grow your muscles. read more

I read all the reviews on yelp and still decided to join because there seemed to more positive than negative reviews. The negative reviews will give you the most accurate representation of this facility. I seldom write reviews on here, but this place was too much of a disappointment. I wanted to like this place so much because I live close and the fees were reasonable. My top complaints: strong musty odor throughout facility extremely outdated machines General filthiness Today was my first workout out there and I already can't wait until my contract is up. I have literally never sent an email to an establishment regarding poor service (I usually save that for yelp.) But after my encounters at Bayview Fitness, I felt compelled to tell the owner the problem I had with the racially profane music I heard along with the cleanliness, or lack there of I should say. His response? -Only adults over the age of 16 are allowed at the gym so they should be able to play whatever music they want. If you don't like it, turn it off. (Keep in mind they keep the radio about 10 feet of the ground.) -We rely on our customers to clean up after themselves. However, we do clean up once a week. Once. A. Week. Can I get a collective EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. I am not a germaphobe AT ALL, but that shit is just plain nasty. I'm a big guy, and a big guy who could go to be...not so big. After two years of living in Bay View, I finally decided last fall that I needed to get my ass to the gym. Any exercise is better than zero exercise, so I started searching. Prior to joining BVF, I worked out at the YMCA in downtown Waukesha, and the majority of my time was spent on either the eliptical, treadmill or the weight machines. I don't free lift (though I probably should), and I don't swim (though I probably should), so what I was looking for, in terms of getting back into the swing of things was pretty simple. Along with access to do the aforementioned types of exercise, I also wanted a place that was reasonably affordable, local to me, and had 24/7 access. BVF achieved all three for me. It's 5 minutes down the road, has 24/7 access, and has a multitude of payment plan structures. I signed up in September for a 3-month membership at $90 to see how I liked it. $30/month isn't bad. Cheaper than the Y. After I was pleased, I renewed and paid in full for a full year ($240 - $20/month). I appreciate the 24/7 access, as I typically workout either really early at 5/6am, or really late at 10/11pm. I like it because I'm self-conscious and don't like working out around a ton of gymrats (though even in the few times I've come in right after work when it's packed - I've only seen one guy pointing at himself in the mirror while lifting. Not bad), and I don't mind being the only person in the vacant space. So I like it here, I renewed in December for a year. I'm committed. But I'm still only giving this place 3 stars. - I make a point to clean every machine after I'm done using it, even if I plan on coming back to it, even if I'm completely alone in the gym. But I'm only one person, and I'm well aware as others have reviewed here that there is an issue of people not cleaning their machines. - It's not been an issue for me yet. But I'm aware that the lack of staffing makes things sometimes feel off. But I know that this is the case for a lot of gyms, particularly local ones. And again, I go at weird hours - definitely not expecting it to be staffed then. - It doesn't bother me immensely, and I'm not necessarily one to know the difference, but even I, a total layman in the world of fitness can tell how old some of these machines are. (One of the ellipticals has been broken for at least 2 weeks now - sadly, the one I preferred to use, too.) - There is a calendar that's posted by the bubbler with dates/times of the paid and free classes that are offered by various trainers, etc. But I wish I had some more information on them, what they are, how much they cost, etc. - One TV, by the treadmills, no TVs by the ellipticals or the exercise bikes. read more

Bayview Fitness' laissez faire attitude to gym operations means the place is a chaotic mess with little enforcement of any rules or standards. Machines are left broken for months at a time, and members will consistently not clean machines or leave weights dangerously strewn upon the floor. Staff that are there seem more interested in getting their own workout in rather than making sure any rules are being followed. The gym also has a terrible card reader that you use to enter which you need to use multiple times to work and breaks on occasion. The owner seems to defer responsibility on all matters as if it could ever be his job to maintain his own business. I wanted to like this place as it is a local small business, but I would not recommend it. read more

My mom once told me that if I couldn't say anything nice, I shouldn't say anything at all. This is one of those times I'm NOT going to listen to her. Where to start? The owner -- He is clueless. He doesn't even know what his own contract says. Don't waste your time trying to reason with him, because he won't understand what you're saying. However, I wish the owner were the worst of it. The gym itself is a joke. The equipment is hit and miss, if it actually works how it's supposed to. The gym's website "claims" it's manned at certain times. It's not really "manned." You may wonder why I keep saying "manned"? That's because the "employee" working at that time is too busy worrying about getting their workout in than actually manning the front desk. This includes this owner. If you work an 8-5 job and want to go in after work, don't expect to get a treadmill. Also, if you want to do any squats... pray no one else does. There's 1 squat rack. Bench press? There's 2, but they're poorly maintained. We chose to "go local" by choosing Bayview Fitness over other chain gyms. That was a mistake. It cost us more money for an inferior product. On top of that, the owner is extremely rude. It seems as if he's only there for two reasons: to work out and to keep your money. Apparently the "management" and owner have zero respect for their establishment. A large majority of the members and a good percentage of the "staff members" think their mamma is following them around. They seem to think someone else will put their weights away for them and they don't need to. This is yet another instance of how this gym and its "employees" are only there for themselves and do not care about you as a member. The gym's floor is carpet. Carpet is SO difficult to keep clean. I have NEVER been to ANY gym that is carpet. In the end, had I known then what I know now, there's no way I would have joined this gym. Bayview Fitness is a laughingstock of a gym. I love this gym. I came to this gym a few months ago to work with a recommended trainer. From the get-go, he was nice but straightforward about what his plans were, and how he was going to help me strengthen my back. I appreciated that the gym was very comfortable, clean and lacked the over-the-top BS of today's gym chains. The kicker though was that at the end of my third session, I was asked to do some strength exercises at home or at any gym I was comfortable with. I was like "Can't I just come here?" His response was awesome. "Of course, but I never want to make that an expectation of training here. This is where our trainers choose to train, but not where their clients have to commit to monthly." Sign me up - I'm in. read more

BV Fitness is just about perfect unless you need a pool. It's not a giant mega gym, not is it a tiny storefront. Yet it has the best of both. Good selection of machines, free weights and bars, bikes and treadmills, and an awesome back room of tires, TRX, kettle balls, etc. Plus the trainers there are extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and ready to help. It's not as expensive as other clubs so it's a good value. Great place! read more

I like to run, and I like to run outside, but when it's 20 degrees outside? F that noise, I'll stick to a treadmill. Just being in town for the holidays I only required access to a gym for a week or so. BVF fit the bill, in terms of proximity as well as in terms of membership packages because they sell a 10-day pass. It's spacious, and they have a lot of machinery for the number of people who are using it at any given time (though my holiday-based perspective is probably not the most accurate representation). Even the locker room is pretty tiny, and the three showers they managed to cram in there get the job done, though they could be nicer. The equipment's furnished by SportsArt, which are quite a few generations behind when it comes to the 7" touchscreens of the top-of-the-line treadmills from LifeFitness. I'm not one that usually indulges in a lot of the bells and whistles, but when it comes to some features like automatic setting of your selected running speed, or a gradual slowdown of the tread when you hit "stop", I would have appreciated a little splurging. The treads were tight, though, so that's all that really counts. No hassle, open 24 hours, and small enough to offer open machines when you need them. Not too bad. read more

I tried out a few different gyms before immediately feeling at-home at BVF walking in the door. All employees I've ever experienced walking in and seeing have been extremely friendly and even helpful when it came to learning a new piece of equipment. Everything I want for a killer workout is available that's damn near impossible to find anywhere else all in one place; kettle bells, TRX, ropes, tires, prowler, etc. And there's almost always room to throw all those things in a workout even during peak hours. There's almost never a wait for cardio, legs, or upper body equipment. It's got a few badass bumps and bruises (holes in the wall from medicine balls being thrown too hard, scuffs from where sledgehammers are stored, etc) but it creates this home-like welcoming feeling to get a solid workout in without feeling intimidated. Sometimes I forget my keycard and have to knock during un-staffed hours but you recognize the usuals who go during the same times as you and they've always been kind enough to let me in without worry of being yelled at or anything like that. Almost seems silly how welcoming it is. Also just found out that it's the ONLY locally owned gym open 24 hours and I'm not surprised. Proud and loyal to call BVF mine. :) read more

This is a great gym - not large but not small by any means. I appreciate the extremely convenient parking too - great when it's icy and slippery out - no long treks to the back of a lot in the dark! It's a great value (I pay by the year) and there has never, ever been a time I couldn't get on a machine or use the weights I wanted to use. In fact, I have no one to blame but myself if I don't keep incorporating weight training into a workout, as I can never use the excuse that the area was too crowded or there was nothing available. The women's locker room isn't large but it's clean, and actually, the bathroom IS large with several showers. The treadmills have been updated fairly recently and I really like them - they're versatile and the footing is secure. I also like the casual mood of the place - I'm by no means a model of fitness but I feel perfectly comfortable in this gym, as if we're all working toward a common goal (some of us closer to it than others! :-) The manager is friendly and willing to listen and to help, and takes pride in the gym. I think it's a hidden treasure and am surprised more people haven't discovered it. read more
