Dr. Allen and his entire team have always been exceptional. He has been the primary veterinarian for my dogs for many years, providing compassionate and top-tier care every step of the way. Back in March, I sadly had to say goodbye to my 16-year-old Yorkie mix, Hercules, due to an acute hemoabdomen secondary to a ruptured splenic mass (mass on his spleen burst, causing internal bleeding). I rarely leave reviews, but Bayview is special and deserving of recognition. After many disappointing experiences at our previous vet; (from being non-responsive and callous towards animals, to the doctor selling/leaving the business without notifying any of his patients), we had been searching for a new vet for some time. From multiple negative vet experiences, our sweet dog had turned shaken, nervous, and fearful at vet visits. We turned to Yelp and saw that Bayview's reviews gave us some hope that compassionate animal care was still out there. From the first phone call to every part of the visit, we felt that our dog was finally getting the care he needed. The front desk was warm and welcoming. When I called, they listened, were very helpful, and were able to get our dog seen the next day. They also handled the transfer of medical records from our previous family vet to Bayview, which was a relief. The vet tech, Brigg, was the first person to interact with our dog, and WOW, what a positive change from our previous vet experiences! Brigg was caring, helpful, informative, and attentive to our dog's medical needs. He was kind and gentle to our dog throughout. He took notes on the history of care, our current concerns, and pet's needs. Then came time to meet Dr. Marco. Dr. Marco followed up on Brigg's notes to make sure they accurately reflected our dog's medical history and care needs. He performed a physical exam and created a detailed plan of care to get our dog back to health; (after our previous vet had misdiagnosed and told us he was fine). He listened attentively, showed compassion, treated our dog gently, and demonstrated knowledge/expertise that left us relieved and optimistic that our dog would get better soon. After the exam, Brigg returned to review Dr. Marco's care plan and made sure we had the opportunity to ask questions and review the invoice prior to requesting payment. Transparency had never been part of any of our previous vet experiences. At other vets there were always hidden mystery charges for services that we weren't sure had been rendered, and disdain/judgment if you dared ask what the charges were for or decline any that seemed unreasonable. We scheduled a follow up appointment before leaving and I made sure to share Bayview's contact information with my family and friends who were also disappointed with their current vets and looking for compassionate care. I'm still so grateful to Dr. Allen for his help when my cat, Monkey, was just 3 weeks old. His expertise and knowledge prevented Monkey from having to suffer with ringworm for a longer time than necessary. I originally visited another vet from Petco the day after we found Monkey, however, due to their negligence, they completely missed his signs of ringworm. Luckily, I had the foresight to get a second opinion, but not after Monkey started showing red rashes all over his body, and started balding. After taking our dog to our previous Animal Hospital during the past 4 years, our dog's Veterinarian, Dr. Marco, DVM, and another colleague recently opened up their own veterinary practice. We were excited since Bayview Veterinary Clinic (BVC) is closer to us. It's located in a mixed use commercial/residential building in Mission Bay. There's a ton of underground parking, and since it's brand new, it's like a brand new car! Everything looks nice, smells nice, and our dog has her same familiar Vet who's treated her since she was 3 months old. BVC has everything our old veterinary clinic had (online Rx formulary, great staff, clean office/exam rooms, they can perform early cancer screening, etc.).
