Broke out the Indian cookbook for the first time yesterday. Made a dish that called for fenugreek and some other spices. Went to Raley's and they didn't have the spices so, I found Bazaar online. Even though I've passed by Bazaar 100's of times but, never considered going in until now. Glad I did. Great store that carried all the spices I needed. Chili powder, fenugreek coriander seeds, garam masala, paneer, ground cardamom. The owner was very friendly and helpful. For all the spices, paneer and bag of naan came to $27. These spices will last for quite some time but, I'll be back to the store for the ethnic trip without having to leave Vallejo. read more

Very diasspointed!! Staff is very unfriendly and jsut sits there. Does not offer to help or bother to even smile at you. The owner really needs to take some classes on providing customer service. The only positive thing is the merchandise variety is good. Overall, I would NOT go back their again and refuse to be a loyal customer where great customer service is not valued. read more

I'm not sure what others are saying about customer service being unfriendly here. Each time that I've shopped here (including today) the owner was very nice to me. He always answers all my questions (no matter how silly I think they are) and is very pleasant. Today I was there to buy some henna and he helped me decide between the powder I mix myself and just buying the pre-made cones....I ended up buying the cones. They had two different packages and I asked to make sure they were the same and he confirmed they were and that the only difference was just that they were different manufacturers. Very helpful! Also, they are pretty reasonable in price (I believe)...my henna cones were only $2 each. Hope this helps someone. :) read more

I've been going to this store for about 4 years now. I go in, usually nod or say hello to owner at front and get all my spices, lentils, snack foods and prepared nans and parathas. I've found the prices good and the variety of Spices extensive. I do not expect the shop keepers to follow me around or to chat me up while i am shopping. I am left alone to browse and i prefer that. At the end i pay for my goods and talk a little with the owners and im done. I don't understand why some people expect the owners to smile and follow them around. What a great place for exotic hard to find spices at great prices. I don't know what other people are talking about but the staff were very helpful and nice. They also explain items they sell in their store to you. I enjoy the fact they sell curry powder in bulk and all the spices to make you own curry/masala powders. And goat and lamb cut up in bulk for a great price then at other stores. So if your really in the mood for Indian some cooking or looking for them hard to find spices go to Baazar. read more

I have come to this store for many years, ignoring the fact that the owner is so damn rude. I just go in, get my groceries and leave. However the last time I was in there he asked me if I needed bags, I said no thinking that I could carry them out. Well I needed bags as I bought almost 100.00 worth of groceries. He took out the bags and placed them on the counter, crossed his arms and looked at me to bag my own groceries. I cannot believe how rude and arrogant this man is. If he goes out of business I know exactly why. Horrible customer service, overpriced Fijian groceries and old produce. Never coming back here again. There are other options for Fijian groceries. I agree with all bad reviews about owner's unfriendliness. I have been visiting this store for 15 years or so. Last week when I went there, I said "good afternoon" to the lady (co-owner), with absolutely no response. I thought it was very odd. A month ago or so when I went there to buy some fruits and fresh vegetables, owner was walking by, he stopped and asked me not to inspect each item,because he thought I was ruining his groceries. I assured him that I was not hurting anything. He actually stood there and watched what I was doing. I was ready to be yelled at. I felt very uncomfortable and left. Someone needs to educate the owner that he is not doing business in India, where you can get away being rude and unfriendly to customers, because their culture allows it. Here people want little respect, not necessarily over the top, but just little smile, friendliness and little appreciation for customers coming to their store to give them their business. read more

Really bad customer service. The younger guy that is at the cashier with tattoos is always on the phone and never welcomes you. He is rude. Their prices are way higher than any other Indian store. Just because they are the only ones near by they take advantage of high jacking the prices. I will not ever shop there again. I went to this store for my usual shopping. I bought some sweets. As I took a bite and turned the sweet around it had mold on it. I threw away everything I bought. It also tasted old. The Cashier was not wearing a mask. There was food all over the place that he was eating. I will never go back here. read more

This afternoon, I visited this store for the first time. I was greeted as I entered and when I smiled and told the proprietor that I had recently learned of his store, he smiled and thanked me for coming in. I said I just wanted to browse and see what he had. He nodded and said he would answer any questions. I took my time going up and down every aisle, in delight at all the spices and ingredients. I did go up to ask a question, and he and a woman who had brought him lunch happily explained the answer and we had a great conversation about cooking. I am so thrilled to have found this store and can't wait to go back. As others have noted, kindness begets kindness. If you smile and nod and are respectful, the owners return that in full. I would never recommend this business to anyone. The guy (probably the owner) that sits at the counter with a depressed look is the reason number #1. Although he may look depressed but he will show his aggressive attitude towards you when you touch an item and put it back without the intention of buying. My wife was left into tears when she found an expired date on spice packet and asked him (the guy) if had one that's not expired. With a fuming look the guy said : Those are Indian Spice, they never expire! So, I don't go there anymore, I go to Fairfield's Amar Groceries. Honestly I have been meaning to write a review for many years but have been holding back in the hopes of this horrid owner changing his ways....but no. The man is absolutely a horrible person inside and out. He answers to questions, is rude 24/7 and is of no help in any way. The prices are somewhat decent and it's the only Pakistani / Indian store close to us, so we're forced to go. His products have been expired many times but he just denies. Yes, an Indian grocery store in Vallejo. Awesome. Great selection of everything I needed. Something like 52 different Shan brand spice mixes. They also sell spices in bulk. Plenty of snacks, incense, and a frozen food section. The owners are very nice and helpful. The people who complain about the owners....just say "hello". No they are not super extroverted with a smile and greet you when you walk in. Get over it. I was very happy when I found this place because curry is something I eat several times a week. read more

I have been shopping here for a couple of years, and have always found it great. However, when I went in a couple of weeks ago, I was disappointed. Some of the pickles and snacks I buy were not in stock. Most upsetting, was that the young man behind the counter was not wearing a mask at all. I was happy to see all the customers were. Because I live in a different county, I wasn't sure what the law was in Solano county, so I didn't speak up. He was touching my groceries, talking to me, all without regard for his health or mine. In a typical stripmall, this place has been here ten years and succeeds because it has the best selection of Indian foodstuffs and videos/cds in the area, perhaps the whole county...and the service is friendly, while the prices are reasonable, even cheap considering you can hardly get these things anywhere else around here. Bazaar is a great store. They have excellent variety and very reasonable prices. However, I'll agree that the owner isn't as friendly as most would like. When I walked in he was sitting at the front counter on his laptop, I assume listening to music. Though he wasn't friendly initially, after talking to him for a while he became very helpful in helping me choose henna. He even told me he would try to start stocking the specific brand I was looking for. Convenience, product, and price are all far more important to me than customer service, so I'll definitely be a returning customer. read more

not at all sure that other reviewers were dealing with store owners. There was nothing but politeness and nice conversation for every single customer who came in the store while I was shopping. I found the gentleman behind the counter helpful, full of knowledgeable advice on all of my questions. He let me browse as i wanted, when I had difficulty opening the freezer door with my hands full he was right there to assist. In fact both he and his wife were extremely friendly. Great prices, $17 for two bags of food, good selection of all the ingredients you might want. This was a much better experience for assistance and information than at Vik's where you seem to have to know what you want already going in. read more

They sold me expired product which was like 3 months past date of expiration and when I went there to get my money they wouldn't give me back my money on top of that the man started yelling and kicked me out of the store. Great store! Surprisingly huge selection of ingredients, foods, cooking tools, and even beauty products. And the owner was perfectly fine. When I engaged him in conversation at the register, he was friendly and pleasant. I don't expect a Disneyland employee level of plastered-on smiles and hand-holding, though.
