This is like 99 Ranch! Vallejo already has a couple grocery stores specializing in Filipino groceries but 168 Market has more variety in other Asian groceries. The produce section isn't the largest. But what they have seems fresh. The protein section is huge though! It's the entire back of the store. While Safeway is facing an egg shortage 168 had plenty of options. When I came here it was clean, well stocked, and not too crowded/busy even being a Saturday evening. I suppose since the initial hype has died down the service and stock has improved with less of a customer rush. They have a bakery and a hot deli as well! I like their selection of desserts. The alcohol selection is a little limited. I think they have more variety than other Asian markets for other items. Such as they have the Kirin bottled milk tea which I haven't been able to find at 99 Ranch. Definitely come by and check them out. They have a lot to offer. Maybe it's not everything and other places are better for certain items. But it's a great addition to Vallejo! No more driving 30 min to County Square in Vacaville or crossing the bridge to a 99 Ranch! read more

So this place is a big competitor with 99 ranch and H-mart. I'd say it ranks somewhere in between the two. It competitively priced like 99 ranch but it's also pretty clean and designed nicely like H-mart. In other comparisons it seems like it had a wider selection of Asian goods than both 99 Ranch and H-mart with lower prices. Cash registers are fast and open so you get in and out pretty fast. Overall this is definitely a nice place to visit if you're in Vallejo. Also, they serve hot foods there as well. I didn't get a chance to try it but it's pretty much the same price as 99 ranch ie dim sum and the to go counter. There is also a bakery section in which it seemed pretty decent as well. read more

168 Market is still getting people coming in for grocery. I would had expected 168 Market to ruining Seafood City but I was wrong. Parking is easy to find at this location. I thought it would be difficult to find parking since there is a Walmart nearby and once again I was wrong. Whenever I go inside 168 I been ordering Boba Tea which is hard to resist getting. I love the Boba Tea compare to going to Quickly. 168 Market surely been keeping up with maintenance. I have not seen any damages inside and the carts are still rolling properly. read more

Honestly love this new spot in Vallejo. It's a bummer the city doesn't have an H Mart, but this one is close enough. It gives me 99 ranch market vibes. I found my wok! You know the carbon steel plain wok that gets relegated to the bottom most shelf because it's a high maintenance design that dates back to the Stone Age which can't be sold for more than $20 bucks anyway? Yeah that one. No self respecting Asian old lady would be caught without one. What you can't go for that? I have mentioned nonstick coating a wok is an exercise in futility, yes? I had checked out the cook pots and found nothing but woks with nonstick coatings. I was about to write off the entire younger generations as a bunch of, tastebud-challenged food weenies when I spotted it. There is hope after all! How to season high carbon steel or cast iron and save the landfills from all those dead non-stick woks. Pro tip - purchase and season pots in winter. Warning - any seasoning method takes hours. 1) Remove any protective layer on your pot - see manufacturer's directions. 2) Choose your oil - you want something with a high smoke point - as near to 500 degrees as possible. A) beef fat is often recommended because it's common and easy. B) flaxseed oil is superior - you see the oil has sulfur groups, heated, these sulfur groups react with each other forming disulfide bridges which cross link all of the oil molecules into one giant molecular oil sheet. Very tough seasoning, will survive limited exposure to dishwashers. But it's expensive and it doesn't save you from re-seasoning. It just delays the inevitable. 3)The bonfire method-difficult to execute but if you can it's really the fastest way. Poorly constructed woks will warp using this method. Same technique as the baking method below. 4) the baking method - set your oven temp to the smoke point of your oil. You want to wipe on the thinnest layer of oil both inside and out, set your pot into the oven and let it bake. Faint wisps of smoke should come off. You are not burning your oil, you are drying it out. When the oil turns into a glossy, black, smooth to the touch finish, that's when you can take out the pot and layer on more oil. It generally takes at least 1/2 hour for this to happen. Repeat adding layers for as long as you can stand it or about 5-7 layers. The more layers the better. The oil should end up looking and feeling like black nail polish - shiny and hard. You should be able to scratch it with your nails and leave not a mark. If it's matte black and comes off easily, that's soot. It's worse than useless, food cooked over soot burns faster. If you have soot, you're burning your oil, lower the temp a few degrees. Scrub the soot off and start over. I will sometimes cheat by taking out the pot when the oil is still slightly soft. It will feel soft if you scratch with a nail; like nail polish that is still tacky and dents easily. If you do this - finish off the pot at the end by leaving it in the hot oven for at least an hour. Then turn off the heat and let it all cool overnight. The seasoning should be really hard all the way. 5) Cook, baby, cook! - Oil your pot both inside and out. Add a generous portion of oil or maybe choose many pounds of fatty ground meat (I've seen recommendations for 10 lbs) and cook it all. I have personally used 10 lb bags of onions to season some of my pans. After a monstrous cook like that, all the pores in the metal's surface should be filled with oil. I like to wipe off the pan and then let it heat until wisps of smoke start to come off, then let the pan sit on the hot burner for 20-30 minutes. Then just keep cooking in it until you get a decent layer of seasoning. You'll have to use extra oil until the layer forms. 6) Seasoning over the burner - Oil the pan, adjust the heat to the faint smoke point. Heat slowly until the oil layer blackens, add more oil plus a some paper towels soaked in oil. Wipe oil over the surface and let it dry out over the heat. Like all the other methods, it will take hours to layer on enough seasoning. When the seasoning is new: Maintenance Don'ts 1) don't burn food! Too much and the seasoning burns off too! 2) Stay away from acidic foods like tomatoes, lemons. 3) Don't use acidic products like Barkeepers Friend 4) Don't scrub with steel wool or green Scotch scrubs. Maintenance Do's 1) You can use dish soap - wipe very very lightly with a soft sponge - remove the food but leave the oily layer behind. When the seasoning is old and tough - takes about a year if you use your pot constantly. Dish soap and scrubbing is OK - use a light touch. What do when you've got burned on food. You need to re-season. Scrub it off and generally I go with the cook method of seasoning. Don't forget to oil and re-season the bottom of the pot or it'll rust out prematurely. Scrub away any rust (use steel wool), oil & heat; oil and heat....If you remember to dry your pans and oil after washing it should never rust. Mom's wok is over 65 years old and still going strong. Sadly, I am not my Mom and I've rusted out my share of woks. read more

I was excited to check out this Asian grocery store (we could always use more of them in the Bay Area) and was pleasantly surprised to find that it's pretty much a 99 Ranch Market in disguise. It has a very similar theme with almost identical signage and I swear I even saw the 99 Ranch Market logo on a couple of things. The best part of it all is that they offer lower prices on the same items. I happily helped myself to a bunch of Japanese and Korean snacks without getting hit with high prices - in fact, everything I bought was under $4 each. I will say, I was disappointed by their hot food section as the quality seemed questionable so I didn't purchase any. The same goes for their bakery which offered a decent selection but nothing really seemed appealing visually. Overall, while this store was a bit smaller than your average Asian grocer, it offers the majority of items at rather affordable prices and seemed like a great addition to the city of Vallejo. read more

People are so sick!!! Last Wednesday I went to 168 market in Vallejo for some white perch fish, they offer cleaning and u can also ask them to cut it up. Today I go and get the same thing. When I walked up to the stand they just finished helping some ladies. So I sat back patiently waiting for them to help me, no one else was waiting only me. They were back there chopping and cleaning so I didn't know if they were doing someone else's order? so I remained until they came to service me. Lalalalalalalala 20 minutes have now gone by. Finally he comes up to the counter and say u want something?, I chuckled and said yes. 6 Perch fish, heads and tails off and clean and cut up. He looked at me with a stern voice and said NO! WE DON DO THAT! I said " what do you mean" you just did the same thing last Wednesday? He said " No, no I didnt" I said yes you did, I'm stunned. I immediately turn away and went and got a manager. I calmly explained to her what happen. She said sometimes they dont understand, as we were walking back to the butcher counter, She called him over and re-order my order and he said ok. Just like that. (Baby I keep a receipt.) I said "so why he understood you, you said the exact samething that I requested. So why did he refuse me? I showed her my receipt from last Wednesday, the look on her face said it all, she was very embarrassed. He understood me perfectly last Wednesday? Look at my receipt from last Wednesday. She said OH Iam so so so sorry, I will definitely speak to his manager I promise. The butcher was Latino, I do notice alot of discrimination from this group of ppl. Such a great addition to Vallejo! No longer have to cross the bridge for my Asian groceries and goodies. What used to previously house an In-Shape has become pretty much my go-to grocery store for Asian veggies, hot pot essentials, instant ramen, and some of my favorite snacks! Love coming here in the morning to grab fresh dim sum for breakfast, and they have a decent selection of hot Chinese food if you're looking to pick up something for lunch time (their portions are absolutely ridiculous! be prepared to make two or three meals out of one combo plate!). I've come here on multiple occasions and I have to say that it's been a great experience each time. The employees are friendly and helpful. And the store in general is always nice and clean. The produce section isn't the biggest, but a lot of the essential Asian veggies are available. Good ramen and snack selection. And the fresh/frozen meat and seafood area houses a lot to choose from! Prices are decent and comparable to other grocery stores like H Mart or 99 Ranch. Sometimes they have really good deals, so highly recommend looking at their weekly deals! Or just peruse the aisles and see what you can find. I bought a giant bag of sesame cracker snacks for $0.99! Amazing! Will definitely continue to make my weekly trips to 168 Market. I don't know why it's taken me such a long time to check out 168 which is one of the newest Asian markets in Vallejo. They have all of your hot pot and kbbq needs. Located at the old Gold's Gym and there is plenty of parking, located at the same plaza as the neighborhood Wal mart. My family likes to come here to get combo meals because they are huge portions! From chow fun noodles, fried rice, chicken, eggplant, vegetables, dim sum to go, and sesame balls! All of our favorites, service is quick and all of the workers are nice and friendly! read more

To get a better idea of what 168 Market has, consider thinking of Ranch 99 but a smaller version. Their produce area is smaller, they have a large (and clean) selection of seafood and meats, and they have all the traditional canned and consumable items that any Asian market would have. I really enjoyed their limited bakery items (similar items that Sheng Ki has) and their cakes. Considering that it's only week one of them being open, a lot of their items were flying off the shelves and you can visibly see the stress on the bakers faces while trying to restock everything. I didn't get to try any of the hot food items but I did grab a large selection of veggies. The service needs a little help, especially with the cashiers. The cashier that was ringing me up didn't seem interested in bagging any of the items and when the they realized that I wasn't going to bag my stuff due to dealing with a rambunctious toddler, she just shoved everything in a bag causing the crackers to break and the veggies to bruise. read more

Heard about this place from social media so I decided to stop by. It is a large Asian market in Vallejo that's not more specific to Filipinos like others in town. They have dim sum, yummy baked good, roast duck, and more. They also have all the hot pot fixing you can think of. Service was good. The cashiers were Filipino looking out and making sure I knew eggs were on special for one dollar! The store is clean and didn't smell too bad. Hehe! Omg I'm absolutely delighted that a new Asian market opened up here in Vallejo! No more need to cross the toll bridge to get some quality Asian goodies. Sister company to 99 Ranch Market, 168 Market had its grand opening today. The store has almost every variety of Asian groceries that you can think of: produce, Asian drinks, hot pot ingredients, sashimi, frozen foods, kitchenware, and more. AND there is a section where you can get dim sum and ready made hot foods. AND there is also a bakery section with lots of baked goodies and boba drinks to choose from. It's straight up heaven for a foodie. Let me tell you, it was PACKED. For good reason though! There are a lot of grand opening deals going on right now that it's hard to pass up the opportunity. Hopefully the grand opening crowd settles down in the next few days so it's easier to navigate inside without worrying about clashing with a bunch of carts. I want to say I am so glad that this Asian grocery store is open & I don't have to cross the bridge to go 99 ranch in Concord to get certain ingredients I can't find at other Asian grocery stores in Vallejo. One of my favorite items from the dim sum collection is the sticky rice in lotus leaf, I do wish it was a little bigger but the taste was delectable! It had a nice salty & savory taste to it. 10/18/25- Ordered a cake yesterday $38.99 Strawberry mousse round 8 inch to be picked up today, Saturday at 10am. Spoke with Great Mee in the Bakery. This will be my 4th cake order, simply because I love fresh cake especially for birthdays. It is expected and I have trusted 168 Bakery as this was my 4th time cake order, ahead of time. I even requested half only of the cake with fresh strawberries as some prefer without fresh strawberries. However, today was different. I noticed that the cake was not fresh. Why? Because I know when the cake is freshly made or not. The icing on top was so thick, it was carved out from an older batch of cake and remake it by topping it off with lighter pink colored icing. And the sponge of the cake was not new. It should be more dry and fluffy (has air within). But this one was a bit wet and started to flatten. That's why the icing on top was so thick (to make it up for the shrinking, flattening cake). I don't know why it has to be done like that. 168 always make it fresh for me, that's why I always order- a day before to ensure freshness. I was so disappointed. I did not expect that they would do that to my cake order. As much as I love their cakes, I lost my trust on them. I don't know if I will still order in the future after today's experience. I was lost for words. Whatever reason they have as to why it has to be done like that, I don't understand why use old ready make cake, put a new icing on top of the old one to fulfill an order of a fresh cake. I can tell if it's made today and not, if it's fresh or not. I know exactly by the looks, the quality of the cake itself. I know that Mee knows what I am talking about. Please don't use older cakes for an order. Maybe if you buy it on the same day, you won't get a fresh one; but I ordered mines ahead of time so I expect a new and fresh one, just like my orders in the past. One tip of advice: please don't recycle cake and remake it to look like a new one. Customer knows if it's new or not. I hope this review will be learned as a lesson for the Bakery. Don't go cheap on cakes. After all, it is not cheap what the customer pays. Give them the cake that they want- if they are promised New, it has to be new. You might save a cake today instead of going into waste, (by remaking it to look new and giving it to me) but a customer lost will be a loss for good. Please don't do this practice again. A shared parking lot with a neighborhood Walmart, a laundromat and... I think that's it? Lol! I got lucky and found a spot right in front of the entrance. The market is huge. They have a great variety of fruits and vegetables (on the far left). They have a bakery and a hot foods area (to the right). Towards the back, they have fresh seafood and all the meats. From pork belly to beef brisket to American Wagyu. Shabu night? They have everything you need here!! After my first visit, that's what I had for dinner at home! They have good choices for alcohol. To my fellow kabanayans, they have Red Horse! IYKYK. They also have soju! Best believe I bought a pack! Items are fairly priced. Their hot food bar area looked and smelled good but I didn't really take a look. I did get a fried shrimp dumpling and a steamed shrimp dumpling. 3 for about $5 and really tasty! I didn't need any soy sauce. The aisles at 168 Market seem a bit narrow but that's probably because of all the stuff they have! You have to walk through each aisle and every corner of this market. This is a review for their bakery. The baker was willing to help me get a blue cake for my baby shower party. It was an 8" chocolate mousse cake like what they have on display and I just added my cake topper. The cake was very good! Typical of asian-styled cakes, it wasn't too sweet and the whole cake was finished by all my guests. We also ordered 12 chocolate cupcakes with no alterations and my guests were also pleasantly surprised at how sweet enough they were and that they also had chocolate mousse inside the cupcakes. I have been waiting for this place to open so a while since I first heard about it. I finally get to check this place out today and I am glad I did. It's pretty much like ranch99, and this place is only 15 min away. The place is very busy due to grand opening so the parking might be 1-2 min wait. Inside is very clean and well organized. They had hot food and bakery. I wasn't able to try their hot food because the line was long, so maybe next time. So happy I was able to find Balut, Durian and frozen Coconut Water. I saw they had pre cut durian for $22.99 or $24.99 per pound cant remember the price. It was fairly expensive and I'm glad I walked a little further down. I found a whole frozen durian for $2.99 per pound and also found the cut up, seedless durian for $13.99 per pound and $8.99 per pound. I also love their selection of hot pot meats and hot pot add ins. I love soy milk but prefer their bottled soy milk over the fresh hot one. I was getting dim sum and the worker saw I had the bottles of cold soy milk so she was nice enough to give me a large hot soy milk for free. When you first walk in they have a nice selection of Hawaiian Sun drinks my favorites are POG, Tropical Ice Tea and Lychee Green Tea. They also have a Korean soda I love. My favorite is the selection of Korean Milk. I stock up at least once a month on my drinks. read more

For being tucked away in the middle of Vallejo, this market has a good variety of items if you do not feel like crossing a bridge. It was clean too. Prices aren't that great but it is convenient if you live in the area. The take home food is really not that great. It's not very tasty but you can always "fix" it. Watch for the labels because I saw tripe and pig ears were mislabeled (a $4 difference). However, the frozen foods aren't bad and taste better. I really liked their frozen baos and Lotte kimbap.
