I had been a regular customer of this stylist for quite some time. The balayage and coloring services were acceptable, but honestly not exceptional, especially considering the very high prices. A single visit could easily cost $500-$700. What really bothered me was the membership program. I was encouraged to prepay $2,000 with the promise of a 20% discount on future services. Like many customers, I found the discount attractive and signed up. Recently, I had an appointment but was unable to make it due to an urgent work issue. Instead of showing understanding, I was told that I would be charged $10 per minute for missing the appointment, and the money would be deducted directly from my prepaid membership balance. The biggest problem is that this policy was never clearly explained when I signed up for the membership. At no point was I informed about a $10-per-minute no-show charge or that money could be deducted from my prepaid balance in this way. When I requested a refund of my remaining membership balance, I was initially told that the salon would recalculate all my previous visits at full price and deduct the discounts I had received, meaning I would not receive a full refund. They did a fully refund because of me want to file a complaint from the Los Angeles County Department of Consumer and Business Affairs. I made an appointment with Billy for some highlights. Billy had previously cut my hair a month earlier so I felt very comfortable and confident about him doing the highlights plus I had seen his instagram and YouTube videos and liked the way he did hair. When I arrived for my appointment I was greeted by the assistant. I explained what I wanted and showed the assistant and Billy a photo of the highlights that I wanted. I was so excited and couldn't wait to see the results . Then Billy and the assistant started working on my hair. Section by section putting the bleach and foil all over my hair. Then the assistant began dying my roots. I told her that the color was too dark. But she kept on going. She was wearing a face mask so it was difficult to understand clearly what she was saying but I understood her to say that it would get lighter with shampooing. Well needless to say after almost after 5 hours the time came to remove the foil and rinse my hair out. When she was towel drying my hair I could see that my hair was very dark.., not at all like the photo I showed them. Then Billy began to blow dry my hair and I was so confused because my hair was so dark when I had specifically asked for blonde highlights with medium brown roots... just like the photo. I thought to myself how can this be when they clearly saw the photo I showed them. My hair came out almost black and the highlights are gray... NOT what I wanted. I left totally upset about the whole situation especially since I spent almost $600 ... never ever again!!! I sent a text message the next day to express my frustration and disappointment. I received a response from Billy asking me to return to the salon to correct my hair issue.. I went on vacation so I could not return until now....well I reached out to him to schedule an appointment and guess what.. no response. it's a shame that this type of behavior exists when running a business. I have fine hair that already has a perm and darkest brown coloring that was turning a bit orange. Seem when the gray comes in I have to color more frequently from couple of times a year to every 2-3 mos. And I was getting tired of my hair not matching my eye brows. I was searching for hair coloring salons and Bazaaron caught my eye. I started to read the reviews and the pictures looked interesting. My main purpose is to color my hair to cover the gray and reduce having to color so often. When I called I spoke with James who recommended Balayage coloring. I researched it a bit and was concerned bc given I'm trying to cover my incoming gray, I didn't quite grasp how making more of my hair gray would work. Also concerned about chemical damage. But after a brief dialog via text messages I decided to give it a try. I was told it takes 6-8 hours and would only need to touch it up every 6 mos. Bring some snacks with you just in case you get hungry. My session took a little over 6 hours. It is detailed hair coloring unlike any hair coloring I've experienced before. And I've been coloring my hair for many year even before I had gray coming in. It is a long process and took me a bit to get use to the new color. Takes a little practice to learn how to wash and use the hair products. I've gone thru 2 weeks now and finally got the hang of how I want to continue taking care of my hair. I selected gray blue coloring. After the first wash, most of the blue coloring seems to be faded. I tried using the blue shampoo to add some coloring back but it is a little messy to use and I actually like the color without the blue. So all good. I used to roll my hair and now I use a flat iron instead. Went from 60 mins (roll/dry) to 20 mins (flat iron). I don't do as good a job as the salon as I can't see the back of my head, but good enough. Sometime even without the flat iron, it looks pretty cool. I like how the grayish coloring highlights my face. Add a little makeup (or even just lipstick) and I look younger and more vibrant than with the previous hair color which was typical and boring. Key I think is to be patient with the coloring process and even though you may be worn out towards the end of the day, pay attention to how the staff at the salon washes out your hair and applies the leave in conditioner. Watch how they comb out your hair. These are all things you need to repeat when you get home. Billy/James also sends you a brief video on using the color shampoo and leave in conditioner as a reminder what to do. Side note: My hair does feel more coarse and less fine than before. But since I had fine thin hair, it actually works to my benefit as I feel like I have more hair. Fingers crossed that it is healthy hair. We'll see what happens in the coming months. If you're looking for a nice hair coloring that will make you stand out, give Billy and Balayage hair coloring a try. This was hands down the most degrading salon experience I have ever had. My appointment was scheduled for 10:00 a.m. At 8:30 a.m., I politely asked if I could shift to 10:30 a.m., but received no reply. I still arrived at 10:15 and respectfully asked if I could reschedule for later in the day so I could have breakfast. Rather than responding with basic professionalism, the stylist immediately took an arrogant and condescending tone, telling me I "should respect his time." I apologized on the spot and chose to proceed with my appointment without delay. But instead of moving on, he continued to belittle me. He asked if I was "the kind of person who is always late," then proceeded to lecture me like a schoolteacher giving a punishment, insisting on delivering a moral lesson about respect and time. When I pointed out that he did not know me and that his judgment was inappropriate, he escalated further--going so far as to label me as someone with a "bad personality" and "bad morals." Eventually, he refused to provide the service altogether. Let me be clear: I fully respect a professional's right to decline a reschedule or enforce scheduling rules. What I do not respect--and what no paying client should ever have to endure--is being humiliated, insulted, and talked down to in such a demeaning way. His arrogance, hostility, and complete lack of respect for clients were appalling. If you value being treated with even a shred of courtesy or professionalism, avoid this salon. No service, no skill, and no haircut is worth being spoken to like a misbehaving child. read more

It has been such a refreshing experience to finally find an excellent hairstylist like Billy in the U.S. I used to fly back to China to get my hair done, as I had several disappointing experiences with both Korean and Chinese stylists in Chicago.
