The owners, Allen and Rita, are super friendly, fast, professional, and good at what they do. They made both my friend and I comfortable, and somehow got us both finished in a little more than 2 hours. I got a very much needed haircut and highlights, while she got a trim and perm. They're well versed in Taiwanese/Asian styles and we very much appreciated how they recommend us styles that suit our personalities and personal style. Since I have thicker hair, my total was $225 and $265 post tip. The salon itself is very clean, bright, and comfortable. It's minimally decorated and has everything needed for your hair styling needs. The parking is a bit fierce as it shares a space in a popular plaza, but as long as you make an appointment at a less popular time you should be good to go! read more

Since then I could not find a compatible stylist (after trying four new ones) until today: Alan, the chief stylist and owner of this salon, possesses rarely-encountered listening, precise efficient, and modern skills in hair management. His skills of using scissors is particularly unmatchable. He delivered exactly what I need from simply seeing some pictures of my preferred styles, not-to-mention the post-haircut smoothness (not spiky-feel) when my fingers ran thru my hair. Aunty Alan and Rita have been taking care of my hair since I was a tiny child. They are a really good family friend of ours and they take care of my hair to the upmost perfection. From cutting to dying hair, they are super talented in what they do. The vibe is really nice. Comfortable couches and refreshments while you wait. They mainly speak only Chinese so please be mindful! I used to go to Kelly at a different salon in Diamond Bar for years, and she recently relocate to this new location! I was craving for a hair cut right this moment after being on "lock down" from working from home for almost three months, and I just couldn't wait for another day ... Today is the day (LOL)!! Kelly met up with me on a such a short notice for a cut, and I even got my hair colored on the same day :) (Scored! Thank you, Kelly!) 10/10 a wonderful salon owned by kind and experienced stylists. Allen is the single most skilled hair stylist to cut my hair, among the most affordable, and welcomes walk ins! Please visit this hidden gem. I accidentally found this place after pulled over into a parking lot to send a work email, then realized I could wait out traffic with a little self care. I have a hard time trusting anyone with my hair but as I've become too busy to extensively research reviews, prices, and pictures - I took a chance by walking in within five minutes of finding this place on Yelp. My last three haircuts (I didn't leave reviews for them) have left the face framing pieces choppy and uneven. I had figured that I made a mistake by choosing stylists that didn't have experience cutting thick, Asian hair and I was fairly certain that my hair could be fixed here. I told Allen the gist of what I wanted (softer layers to blend out this mess) and showed general photos. He asked me how much hair was okay to cut off and started working his magic. Most of the stylists I've seen in the past do that thing where they meticulously part/re-part your hair, grab and measure cut pieces on both sides, reassess their work and slowly snipping to achieve textbook perfection. You know the vibe. I have never seen anyone cut hair the way Allen does -- an impossible mix of careful precision with quick decisiveness but I guess that's just pure skill. I've had good haircuts in the past (and more bad ones) but nobody has ever worked with scissors the way Allen did. You can tell he can just... feel for the hair and knows what to do. He had this bottoms up approach where he does an initial cut on each small section first and then looks at the big picture after. Most places try to aim for that symmetry in the beginning. I think Allen's approach is to do what is flattering for the customer (with respect to what they want) and moves deftly and decisively after he gets a feel of the hair. He completely won my trust during the final adjustments phase because I could see him grabbing and re grabbing the pieces of hair that were ruined from the last haircut. Most of my friends would say it's not noticeable unless you really look and feel - I hadn't said much about the issues I found, but oh my god he literally addressed every slight issue everyone told me only i would notice. He made my hair feel healthy, look beautiful, and showed me the options I had to part my hair. He has an eye for what looks good from all angles and the skill to fix the mistakes bothering me. I asked for no layers, curtain bangs, and a shoulder length cut. I also asked for a dye that would match my virgin hair, and they were able to match it perfectly. I have been going to this salon for a while now. After the pandemics I had to go in to get my hair cut and colored (it has been 6 months since I had my last hair cut, and I have very very heavy and thick hair!!!). Everyone in the salon, include the workers all have mask on, and they also blocked out some of the chairs to make sure there are social distances between the customers. Before we enter, the owners ask us to have temperature check and wash our hands, then direct us to the seat. While going in, I saw lots of post regards to keeping mask on at all time, and also their certificate to re-open. Throughout the whole service, they wear gloves and mask. They also have us keep our mask on the whole time too. I would recommend my family and friends to go to them not only cuz they are very clean, but because they are very professional and very detail on how the hair should cut and color (even with the mask on, there was no color dye on my mask!). My review is primarily about Wendy, one of the hair stylist at Golden Beauty salon. My Mom and I have been clients of Wendy for over 20 years. We go to her for our hair cuts, color, perms and hair styling needs. I have shoulder length, naturally wavy hair and my Mom has short straight hair, so our hair styling needs differ but Wendy is experienced styling both lengths. Whenever I have an appointment with Wendy, she is focused on me. She manages her time well and doesn't book multiple clients at the same time, so we can get in and out quickly and efficiently. I started coloring my hair a few years ago to cover some gray strands scattered in my long hair. Wendy did a great job matching my natural hair color because my friends were surprised when I told them I color my hair. Plus, I should mention that the dyes she uses does NOT make my hair smell like ammonia. My Mom and I like going to Wendy because she is a good listener and communicates well about our hair care services and needs. When I want to change my hair style, she listens to my ideas and then we discuss and come to agreement on what styles suit me beforehand. I value her opinion because she is straight-forward and upfront about things. Wendy is friendly, caring and always willing to help. If you need help styling your hair daily, Wendy will take time and teach you how. She also shares her knowledge on how to maintain healthy hair. For the Yelp user who rated 2 stars saying the person on the phone's English is poor, I have a comment: by giving a business a very poor review when you have never visited them nor experienced their talent is really quite ridiculous. By rating them that poorly when you have not even met them, I read that, and seriously rolled eyes and facepalm'd. I'm 23 years old with straight black Asian hair and I recommend Wendy for all haircut and styling needs. I have gone to her for short pixie cuts, stylish bobs, trims, and styling for special occasions (like prom and weddings). In other words, she can do it all! I've walked in to salons that want to charge me double, simply because they can. This is especially true for bougie places that care more about their image than their clients. Other places charge a minimum of $60 and are often crowded and noisy, where you can hear everyone's conversations. But not here! You can definitely tell that the haircut is good because the style still stays intact after your hair grows long a couple weeks later. Most importantly, she never makes you feel that she is rushing so she can work on the next customer. She knows that I am not very good at fixing hair on my own. So Alan has cut my mom's hair for years, which, to me, meant he was never going to go near my hair with a ten foot pole, much less a pair of scissors. It wasn't anything personal - my mom's bob is fashionable enough, I suppose - but seriously, go to the guy who cuts my *mom's* hair?? Besides, I already had an excellent stylist: sure, she was far away and expensive, but she made my hair look great. Unfortunately, there came a time when it was painfully obvious a long Midwest winter had not done me any favors, and I was only in town for an all too short 24 hours. Not wanting to spend 2/3 of my 24 hour vacation being pestered about how desperately my hair needed to be attended to (don't you love how Asian moms show their love?), I grudgingly agreed to see Alan, though inwardly I figured he wouldn't be able to squeeze me in anyway. Well, he squeezed me in. And 30 quick minutes later, he sent me off to enjoy the rest of my vacation with a layered, voluminous (and low maintenance!) cut that most definitely had no resemblance to my mom's hair. Since then, he has also cut the hair of my ophthalmologist cousin right before her meeting with the Gates' (elegantly layered, and yes, *those* Gates'), as well as the hair of my free-spirited rock-climbing cousin (a whimsical updo complete with feathers for her wedding; a feather-less but still feathery low-maintenance trim on a more regular basis). And that's where Alan's skill really shines: not only is he technically talented, he's able to match his looks to both your own sense of style and practical needs.
