I called them on March 18 for the first time and submitted documentation that day. I was told 5 to 10 day turnaround. For paperwork. It is now March 27 and I had to reach out to them. When I called, they had no idea who I was and only now are they scheduling a walk-through next week with an another 10 day turnaround for documentation after the walk-through. So basically a month. Kris admitted that there was some miscommunication between their engineers and are not willing to move up my appointment nor fast track my paperwork. I called this company to inquire about having an engineer inspect some cracks in my home. When I asked basic questions -- such as what the engineer actually does during the inspection and how they determine whether cracks are structural -- I was told by Chris that "we're not a fit for you." I was shocked. I was simply trying to understand what I'd be paying for and expected a professional explanation. It's disappointing that asking fair, pointed questions led to being dismissed as a potential client. When the inspector was finished, he walked my realtor and I thru the property and he physically pointed out areas of concern. During our new build process we had Ralph Baca come out and do a pre dry wall and post dry wall home inspection as a 3rd party home inspector. We couldn't be more happy with the results even though the builder did an amazing job on our house b - sure was able to find even some of the smallest discrepancies throughout the house that would have cost us in the long run. Picked BBACA Engineering because of advertised structural engineer qualifications. Used this service as a second opinion to another structural inspection that was already complete to in order to help me determine what repairs would be necessary/what contractor quotes were valid/not valid. The engineer was kind and courteous and that is where the quality stopped. The structural inspection for the whole home took less than 30 minutes which mostly consisted of visual inspection and everyday small talk. My verbal questions considering integrity of the home structure and foundation were met with non-committal responses (nothing but gray answers), the follow-on written report also lacked substance. Many emails and phone calls to BBACA for clarification on report were either ignored or answered again in a lawyerly way. This was not good value for money and did not help me make decisions on repair and prevention work that I had quotes on from various contractors. read more

At the end of it we got a 96 page inspection report covering every square inch of this property! Althea answered the phone on a Saturday and spoke to me for about 20 minutes. She really listened to my concerns and was so caring and informative during our phone call. Wish I had called Baca before I went with the other guys for my home inspection. The value of having a professional team of home inspectors teamed with a licensed engineer is extremely valuable, I learned the hard way. My original inspector identified what he thought was a major issue. He recommended I call a structural engineer to assess the issue. He used some scary language in his report. I called Baca, they came out, and not only calmed my fears over what I thought was a major structural defect in my dream-home purchase, but also identified a separate minor structural issue that would need to be addressed.
