Dance studios take a huge commitment in time and effort from parents and kids. We'd been to a few…read moreschools in the area and some outside the area, but we like Intensity because they have a good balance between taking themselves seriously and letting my daughter have fun. She likes going, she makes friends there and there are plenty of different levels of commitment for everyone. If you want to do competition, they have that, if you want to just go and take classes, they have that as well. My mother came down for the recital last year and really enjoyed it as well, you get to see all ages of girls and really watch them get better as they get older, some of the oldest girls were really amazing. Definitely recommend this place if you want to teach your kid commitment and discipline while they make friends and have fun.

I even said I wanted to just sign her up for Hip Hop and the very nice blonde lady insisted I try Ballet since it was complimentary and my daughter may end up liking it. Came by today with a very excited 4 year old ready to try beginners ballet. At the door, I was told I had to wait until after Labor Day because classes were changing. I asked if they had an update schedule which they didn't but they took my information to send once available. I left with a very upset and sad 4 year old. WHY would they offer a complimentary trial class and tell you to literally "just show up" to then be sent way? Very unprofessional. I was looking forward in enrolling my daughter 2 times a week. Now I'm back to square one looking for a new school. I am still in disbelief that they would turn away a four-year-old that they would turn away a four-year-old just because they only had 2 weeks left this month. You just lost a new customer.

I learned so much in every single class I took. In university at USF I took a semester of ballet and the teacher complimented my technique as being the best one in the class, all thanks to the wonderful education I received at academy of arts. Now in 2025 my 3 year old daughter is taking classes and is enjoying every class. My mother, daughter and I recently went to the Christmas show and we were so proud to experience the show. It was such a great show, still professional and beautiful. 13 years later and Academy of Arts is still producing wonderful dancers. I highly recommend this studio to all dancers and artists who are eager to learn and perfect their craft.

Located in a warehouse area near U.S. 27 and Johnson Street in West Pines, Academy of Arts is under…read morethe ownership and direction of Rebeca Russo-Columbo, a Cuban-American former dancer. This is a full dance school that offers: Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Pas De Deux, Lyrical, Tap, Hip-Hop, Flamenco, Modern Dance, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Drama, Piano, Guitar, Violin, and Voice. The faculty is certified and have led professional careers in their respective areas of creative expertise. They begin laying a foundation from the preschool years all the way to young adulthood. And they have both female and male students. They also offer an AfterSchool program and work your child's classes at a mutually suitable schedule. The cost of the classes is comparable to other dance academies. I have enjoyed closely watching the development in my niece, as well as in many of her close friends. I also look forward to their professionally-mounted recitals every year.

It is poorly run, lacks organization, and operates far below the standard families should expect. There are several other reviews describing similar behavior, which unfortunately confirms this is not an isolated incident. What was most concerning was my direct interaction with ownership. A simple, respectful question was met with a surprisingly aggressive and condescending response. The conversation began calmly, yet quickly escalated into a verbal reprimand directed at me in the lobby, in front of other parents. It was inappropriate, unprofessional, and frankly embarrassing behavior for anyone representing a children's business. Equally troubling is the lack of basic safety structure. There is no clear system in place to ensure children are properly supervised or accounted for, which should be non-negotiable. There are far more reputable options in Miami. I would strongly encourage parents to think carefully before enrolling here.

Studio provides an area for students to complete homework during their break, has a cafe for students to get a bite to eat and not have to leave studio. My daughter loves it here it's our 2nd home. It's a great family atmosphere! Best of all the schedule is great, my daughter dances Mon - Thurs with enough time to enjoy her weekend and be a kid. This studio has great teachers that serve as role models. They are involved in the community and giving back. During hurricane Irma studio did collection for displaced residents. Every year the studio can be found volunteering for the Breanna Vergara Foundation 5k. I highly recommend this studio to anyone who has a child who is interested in dancing.

It never felt like everyone was given an equal chance to succeed. The constant teacher turnover speaks for itself. By the end of the season, none of the previous teachers had returned. In my opinion, that reflects the unprofessional atmosphere and poor leadership. A dance studio should be a place where every child, parent, and staff member feels respected and valued. Sadly, that was not my experience, and I cannot recommend this studio.

It's no surprise that teachers don't stay.. most teachers don't last more than two years, which says a lot! At his time, all of the teachers are new. Not a single teacher from last season , ending in July have remained. One was fired after standing up for herself and another left because she couldn't tolerate the treatment. It's especially hard to see how the assistant is spoken to despite of being completely dedicated. The director also speaks to many of the dancers in a way that comes across as immature and disrespectful, almost as if she's trying to be an obnoxious "cool teenager" peer rather than the professional adult in charge. A dance teacher should inspire and lead by example. There is also clear favoritism. The same dancers receive the attention and opportunities while others are overlooked. A small group of longtime moms seems to have a significant influence over decisions, making the environment feel unfair, even over the teachers.. A dance studio should be a place where every child, parent, and staff member feels respected and valued. Unfortunately, that is NOT here and I cannot recommend this studio.
