They lost them and then disregarded my request for the cost of replacement. I left two simple 1-1/2" x 1-1/4" x 9" radius, hand-turned arched molding that I wanted duplicated in douglas fir via CNC for a project where I needed multiple moldings. The day after dropping them off, I received a call from Haas staff (possibly the owner). I was quoted a set up fee of "one thousand six hundred dollars + the cost of making them"?!? For the obvious reason that their cost was too high and there are other molding shops that provide CNC, I said that I would : "hold off for the moment...I would come back to retrieve my samples tomorrow". When I arrived the following day I was told; "We can't find the samples. They must have been thrown out by the cleaning company." As if losing my samples wasn't bad enough, they blamed it on some surely innocent cleaning people; Shame! Who would believe this story for a moment. I followed up a day later to see if they turned up and was told "no". I submitted a $700 invoice to Haas for a replacement cost for time it took me to make the samples they "lost". No response. If you want CNC work, there are other places in The Bay Area who's costs are reasonable and customary. What a shame, they are along my commute.

Home Depot and Lowes don't carry all…read morethe old time moldings, but Haas can make anything -- custom moldings, casings, baseboards, etc. (basically any woodwork) to MATCH the existing pieces in your home. Their prices are reasonable (read: not exactly cheap), but the finish details count for everything in my projects. And I wouldn't want to insult the true old school craftsmen that built my old house in 1927 by settling for something that doesn't match the existing wood moldings.

Honestly, it would've been fine either way, but I love that it was a woman. Every step of the way every one was pleasant to deal with and competent at their job. They have a very dialed-in process and communications. Last, but certainly not least, the workmanship was excellent. We love our new windows and they have made our new home and workshop 100% better!
