It was difficult to find a person to redo natural wood as most who looked at the job recommended just painting the doors. We in November 2018 agreed to have Villanova do our long-needed deck washing and staining. Carlos made a very professional presentation, with good suggestions about what would work for our aged deck, and suggesting some cost-effective repairs of some of the boards. He even was able to use some old deck boards we had saved from dismantling another deck long ago. Because it was winter, we had to await a long enough time window to fit the project into between rains and cold temperatures. December 10 was the day, and Carols and his crew did a very efficient job over a couple days' time, including moving and replacing deck furniture and potted plants from the deck. Unfortunately, some rains came unpredictably sooner than we had hoped, though Carlos thought the deck would still dry ok. After a few weeks of dry weather it became clear that parts of the deck were drying in a splotchy way and the end job was unsatisfactory. Carlos agreed, and he and crew came back early in spring during a long dry spell and essentially re-did the whole deck, at no extra charge, including moving furniture and potted plants off the deck again. After this re-do, the deck looked -- and still does, some 4 months later -- beautiful! Evenly stained, gorgeous color, and uniform. Overall, despite the unavoidable setbacks, we are very pleased with the work by Carlos and his team of Villanova Deck Staining and Painting and would definitely hire them again for our next re-finishing (and we won't wait so long next time!). read more

They did our deck the second time (pictures from the first time are features on their website). They showed up on the date as confirmed months earlier (challenging in view of changing weather patterns), did the job in the scheduled time of 3 days only. In the first day they cleaned & pressure-washed, then they did some deck "brightening" that made the deck look like new. In the second day the sanded the deck - I wondered why, the deck looked like new already, but they said it was to open up the wood surface to absorp the stain later (pressure washing apparently damages the surface so it needs to be opened up by sanding). The third day they stained the deck. The deck sucked in the stain and it looks SUPER and they did not stain anything else (this is big - most painting/staining jobs I have gotten done left some stains on the concrete and stones surrounding the site)! When I called them to schedule this job, they were so booked up I only could get them much later than I wanted so I am a little conflicted to put such a positive review but then the whole thing of social media is to share experiences for the good of all and these guys deserve the praise for the fabulous job they do. read more

I had an older deck that needed some repairs and staining. I chose Villanova Deck Staining and Painting after reading all the positive comments on Yelp. I actually called him last October to have him give me an estimate. He and his assistant were prompt for the appointment and addressed all my concerns. I received the estimate within a day or two. I knew at the time that he couldn't start the project until the spring because of all the rain this winter. He kept in contact with me regarding our start date in April. I met once more with him to go over the plan. He started and completed the project on time (while I was away on vacation!) and even sent me pictures showing the beautiful results. WOW, Carlos and his crew did a phenomenal job on my very large Clear Heart Redwood Deck. This deck was built in 1991. It now looks like it did 27 years ago in 1991. Amazing, Detergent / Brightener, Power washing at the correct pressure, orbital sanding of the Whole Surface, Then 2 coats of TWP stain, it looks new !!!! Although we have had the deck refinished every 3 years, it has never come out like this since it was new. If we could have higher review than 5 Stars, Villanova Deck Staining would get it.
